How I would "fix" the Lancer's desing. 1: Make it a bullpup. 2: Put the fuel tank in front of the trigger handle. 3: In front of the fuel tank goes the motor. 4: Ad a cover over the saw teeth that are below the front grip (to avoid accidental cuts).
Really good ass video man! You need more views, everything you said was what I was thinking as someone who understands how firearms work. The lore for the fuel of the chainsaw is that the more the gun is fired, it collects the thermal energy produced in that little funny looking module on the side.
Since the lancer probably weighs as much as a bag of potatoes yet these soldiers can carry that weight one handed lol something tells me if you take the biggest light machine gun this is what the lancer is probably based around since the lancer looks like a light machine gun with 50 rounds in a magazine yet your typical assault ruffles are 31 rounds or less
My thinking here is that a chainsaw, even stripped down to its bare essentials, and an assault rifle would be incompatible with each other. Even if could be made to work somehow, how do you stop the heat from the chainsaw engine from setting off the ammunition in the clips?
in the realm of Gears the locust are viewed as monsters. its easier for people to fight them since there is no human connection. i dont think war crimes apply to locust lol. reading through the GoW books they always talk about it. Now what would be cool to have a forward handguard with the chainsaw being part of the component. have it connect to the front of an AR-15 with a block where the chain could run in front of the mag well. unfortunately like you mentioned, it would probably be an electric saw. it would be more of a novelty weapon ofc like the recently made Halo BR with its "working" ammo count. The Stock Problem Is technically able to be dealt with as the Mk3 Lancer has A stock So it would be Alot easier to control, The only problem would be Anthony's problem, The chainsaw Bayonet Attachment jamming the gun.
I think the lancers weight would offset the recoil issue. Also the lancer kind of does have a butt stock. It’s just that the cog soldiers have such bulky armor with shoulder pads that a regular stock might be too long. The chainsaw bayonet looks cool but it’s totally impractical in melee combat. Using a chainsaw in general is hard. It’s heavy, loud and slow. A beyonet has a tiny point moving way faster. And think, nobodies gonna stand there and get sawn in half. You have to pin your opponent to really dig into them. I think in the gears lore the chainsaw beyonett was for dealing with debris but everyone just used it to saw locust.
Yep, you are correct. Gears are told to NOT use the chainsaw because it could flung bone shrapnel in their face and eyes. They are also told if they absolutely want use it, they should to wear a helmet or gogles.
The magazine would probably be the same concept as drum magazine or how belt feed works or a concept of both. Another way to mix it that issue is to move the placement of the magazine. And I do believe I’m not 100% sure but later on in the series a stock is added to the lancer. Other than problem of the chainsaws power source which could be simple fix any and being able to function properly without any major issues besides the normal maintenance and upkeep. It’s possible, practically no not really but it is possible.

Ironically, I think legally speaking this gun would be easier to justify up here in Canada. Make a semi auto version, pin the mag, done. Since it's technically loading more than one mag at once you might be able to justify it having a higher than usually legal magazine capacity.
What happen if it's an electric chain saw, not a fuel one. This is 4 years old, but in the new one Kait says it's way easier to do this instead of stealing Cog batteries. Ya not sure what we can used. In that universe they have a bundle of Osmium ore while in the real world it's extremely rear i mean extremely. back then they dont know what it could do because there's so little of it but they suspect it's a wonder material
