- I cloned myself and did a little shootout of the Mooer Preamp Live and the Kemper in regards to its tone capture.
This is what happened.

say Hi,
instagram► / nicola.indjov - Hudba
finally some comparisons of the Mooer! I really want to hear this thing up against the HX Stomp, which is more the same target audience. Mooer & Joyo are simply crushing the gear market.
great idea Jason
Great video - you sincerely deserve more subscribers..... and you just got one here. Good stuff.
Thanks mate. It's greatly appreciated
im just here for the sick playing bro, mad skills you got there!
Thanks bro, it's greatly appreciated
Parabéns pelo video Niki - Realmente o Mooer surpreendeu!
Thankyou! Well thought out and very clear. 👍🏻👍🏻😎
The Mooer is pretty amazing. Thanks!
Beautiful work on this video!
As a gear head, I try and keep looking in at what's happening even tho' I am overstocked
as is on gear for my needs. I certainly take the Mooer "more" seriously after your comparison.
thank you
Amazing video and audio quality.
thank you
Currently using the mooer for live shows and rehearsals and no joke 100% of the time when other musicians / engineers listen to my band they ask the same question
Hey man that sounds absolutely great! Which Amp are you using?
Then I show them the Preamp Live and they go totally crazy (specifically after knowing the price)
Great video!!!
Thank you Marko
Great work brother!
thanks Raony
I hope watching more news videos from your channel. Keep doing this great work brother.
Could you share the tone capture of the Victory Kraken for the Mooer Preamp Live PLLEAAASSEEE? I've been looking but I can not find one! Thanks and Happy New Years
Hi Chris, yes definitely will do it. probably capture the victory sheriff and the duchess as well. cheers mate
Did you end up doing these? Cheers!
Good video - thanx for sharing.
thanks Dizzy
Can you capture a tone from kemper by using mooer? Is it possible?
Why not ???
I guess so. I´m sure the Mooer GE300 can: czcams.com/video/3qlu88doz1Q/video.html
A question... Since you use the 4 cable system, it's not possible make a capture of older amps like a Fender Princeton, right?
Have you done anything to the volume or eq to the tracks? They both sounded good but the Kemper didn't quite pierce through the mix as the mooer did.
I did just the usual low cut but besides that it's pretty much flat on the eq.
Great comparison
Thank you Fabricio
The tone capture is very impressive and will get you 95% there, tweak away for the other 5%. The only issue I have with the tone capture is that you need to save the capture on the same preset you are working with. So if you liked the stock JCM900 preamp and used it for source in capture, you will lose that JCM900 stock preamp when you save the new tone capture. I wish this unit gave me some empty banks to save to so I didnt have to save over the original loaded preset.
Both sound awesome to me!
Thank you
for me too!
True but I think it depends on your preference
Jamming with all your friends.
thanks
Just realised...thought one on right whole time was a female
@@joshmuz9018 This comment reminds me of high school. It took forever to get out of that damn locker. 🤔
Would you be able to share the tone capture file for the Preamp live?
definitely will do and capture more awesome tones in the future
@@NikiIndjov You are a gentleman and a scholar
Man excellent tones and playing! Really really top notch stuff!
Thanks bro
muito bom irmao !!!
Oi Moises, obrigado
I listened with (studio) headphones and can't tell which you'd prefer for tones. Which *felt* better in dynamic feel?
As far as responding to natural dynamics they are both fairly good and transparent. For live gigs I would prefer the Mooer and for studio the Kemper.
Damn, I'm torn between the Mooer Preamp Live and the Strymon Iridium. Leaning towards the Preamp Live since it seems to handle high gain well.
Iridium sucks for high gain
@@finnancahill2644 I actually bought a Preamp Live since this comment. Definitely not regretting it, it sounds great already and I haven't even tried a tone capture of my Orange yet.
the difference is in the Low mids , the Kemper sounds a lot fuller . Good video
Those low mids are garbage in a mix... Nobody need them, makes it sound dull
Awesome mooer
Nice dynamic and clarity
Like tube amp
Great job,,
That "Prayer Position" drums tho hahahaha
spot on bro
Yeah!
muito bem feito o video mano muito bom👍👍👍👍👍👍
The 'problem' is you're a damn good guitarist, and knows your way in adjusting all those knobs. You can just play with that guitar, DS1, SD1, into Peavey Bandit and still sounds good. Good review btw. Rock on
Peavey Bandit is m... fu....r with good pedals it is a beast...
Hi Paramarta, thank you. It's greatly appreciated bro.
Peavey Bandits and a DS1 are bad ass for real!
@@joedean3263 Hi Joe, thanks for the feedback
Peavey bandids are badass
Kemper has more clarity, dynamics and less compression

thank you Justin
The Kemper has onboard effects I believe, which is a big plus IMO. The Mooer would be far more interesting if they had incorporated onboard effects.
The Mooer GE200 basically is then your tool of choice. :-) has exactly what you describe.
But the GE200 doesn't do the tone capture does it?
@@arrakkis666 The GE-300 does the whole shebang...
Dude that Mooer is killer!!! Sounds awesome, has AAA features and I can fit it in my board?... Sadly no 9V operation tho....
Thanks Gabriel. yes it's 12V DC but power supply is included.
part of the problem with regards to the price of the Kemper, Ax Effects and Helix etc... is CZcamsrs with large followings (names withheld) doing daily videos on these devices with no real critical comments. They are essentially promoting these devices to the perfect target market. These companies could not ask for any better advertising. Personally I call shenanigans.
Lou, thanks for the feedback
Great video production, great playing and just great idea for showing off these two products. You are one of a few people reviewing the Preamp Live on CZcams who succinctly describes the tone capture feature, but as far as I know it doesn't sample anything from the gain stage. I think it only captures the EQ of an amp. Check Mooer's official video at 8:10 here:
czcams.com/video/nylwk2IXw1Y/video.html
Either way great job and keep up the good work.
Hi Drew, thank you for your kind words. It's greatly appreciated mate. How I understand it is it analyses and blends the specific voicing /EQ of the gain stage with the internal preamp by advanced algorithms.
@@NikiIndjov Interesting. What's confusing about the tone capture feature to me is when you are using the 4 cable method I thought that you are bypassing the preamp's gain stage. When I got my Preamp Live I went to town trying to understand it's tone capture feature and I'm still a bit fuzzy. Honestly, I think that the fact that it rocks so much is the main point and you have easily shown that here. I'm looking forward to your next video!
@@drewderieux Drew, with the 4 cable method you are bypassing the digital preamp section of the Preamp Live and you replace it with the analog preamp section of your amp. For example, you can use a digital preamp on channels 1, 2 and 4 and use the preamp from your amp's head on channel 3 by activating the FX loop.
That mooer is great. Its about time too kempers are yearssss old now. Still demanding big money. Then a company like mooer come along and destroy it and only ask for what, a fifth of the price...
thanks for the feedback Paul
The age of the Kemper doesn't matter at all. Producers love it because you can't tell it's a profiler, especially in a mix.
@@EulogyfortheAngels hmm true, but i still find it hard to justify its lofty price/age ratio lol. I believe that with the rapid advancement this tech has seen since the kemper it should be reflected in its value.
Big Difference between KPA and this tho .. no Spdif for reamping etc .. and effects .. but it’s a cool tool for a cheaper school
@@shysingh its an interesting discussion tbf. There is a big difference but the main issue is after 6 years. Does the kemper still justify the same price tag
You can put 12 preamps on it but you can choose from like 50..Not to mention the shared captures from other users..
it's an awesome device indeed
Actually think the Mooer sounds better here haha Much more defined. It's just a phenomenal product.
Good video, brother. :D
thanks bro
I'm sorry. What did you compare?
You did a tone capture on the Mooer Live and then talked about the Kemper.
....and that's it.
What the hell did I miss?
I compared the tone capture of the Victory Kraken to the profiled Victory Kraken of the Kemper.
You profiled yourself.
Hi Sämi, yes I profiled myself but without a cabinet.
The way I understand is the Mooer has 8-9 predefined amps and does an EQ match to get it close as possible. While the kemper also secretly has base profiles and does a higher fidelity match using an impulse response & EQ match. You have to like Mooer's set amps if you are to like its tone capture since its a derivative of those tones. Both fail in emulating the dynamics and controls of a real amp post profile... Do a blind test next time with something with less gain :)
False. Kemper doesn't fall into emulating the dynamics. I play live pretty much every Sunday with a Kemper and it's outstanding. Period.
@@depechex I said dynamics and controls... The master volume of some amps also add gain etc. So you will need more fiddling with the Kemper. I have one too and it's the best modeller/profiler out there but it is not perfect.
Head vs pedal ?! LOL
mooer nails t, in price and quality !
Kemper offered better transparency. Period. Both offered great sounds.
thank you for the feedback
Cort mbc Matthew Bellamy!
Too random jam to be a good comparison.
I don’t like both of the tones actually, my personal tastes. But the video is good, great work
thanks Alex
I hate digital amp modellers, BUT the Mooer shits on the Kemper. The Kemper sounds like a wet blanket
See I think the Kemper sounds more clear with more definition for each note.... But for 1400 less USD the Mooer kills it for the price.
Mooer needs a power amp,or cab simulator.
Thanks for the feedback
They do! The radar is an ir loading cab sim, which is built into the preamp live, and they have 20w tube power amps that pair with this 😁😁
mooer is the best
Lol
Kemper is still better imho.
Hi Alex, thanks for the feedback mate
Kemper for me
Much more realistic pre amp
I prefer kemper. Preamplive is expensive. i would rather go for ZOOM MS50G.
thanks Sahara
The Preamp Live is a terrible product. It does sound good, but it is absolutely unreliable. After a week of buying it, it stopped working, luckily under warranty so I got it replaced. The new unit, after a year stopped working again. Unfortunately not under warranty anymore. I lost my money. I was able to record a couple of demos with it and that's all. Also, they stop developing the software. Don't buy it!
Thanks Roberto for the feedback
Kemper !! Mooer sounds terrible
thanks for the feedback YİĞİT
@@NikiIndjov you are welcome. I am really surprised everyone picks Mooer. We have to clarify 10x price does not mean 10x better sound folks
@@yigitcitak but in the same sense, 10 x cheaper doesn't mean 10 times worse ;-) and that is a very interesting development.
I have no comparison since I am watching this on my phone, so I cannot either agree or disagree with you.
@@PippPriss exactly. When I said terrible I didn't mean 10x bad🤣 still useable but not pleasing sound. But this is my hearing.
