      Hello , Let me answer this question. In order to make the HT112B multimeter more lightweight and portable, we designed this smaller jack. This will not affect its accuracy/security or any other aspects. We will continue to improve it to produce a portable multimeter that is suitable for everyone.

    One can reverse LCDs themselves if so desired, just flip the polarizers around
    Also, these test leads are just skirted/shrouded variants of the lead jacks from the 1960s and 1970s, which were just a small pin similar in size to what you have there that had no shroud at all!

    For those that like to roll their own test leads it appears that 2mm
    banana jacks work just fine. If you don't wish to make your own,
    Probemaster offers its 8000 series probes in 2mm banana plug or .080
    pin format. I've not tried those as I planned on making my own anyway.

      @@BangBang-hk4rg They work fine. Nice fit into the meter, the cup holding the wire is smaller than that for a 4mm jack, so it's easier to solder the wire into it. You might need to use a smaller gauge wire than what you'd normally use but the jacks work well. It's nice having options as I prefer little grabbers to pointed test leads for most of my work. That being said, I don't use the meter too often, I have too many to choose from! lol

    Nice test and DMM, shows the incremental improvements for DMMs in this form factor. If these were made by one of the more mainstream manufacturers they'd probably do away with the touch sensitive switches, probably be like updated versions of the Fluke 11/12/13, and have gorilla glass too.

    • @KeepOnTesting

It only shows the voltage - F630amH 250V on the one that apparently blew, but it doesn't tell me what current should be on the fuse. Have a look at yours please if it is the same

  • @yambo59
    @yambo59 Před 3 lety

    Ive been waiting to see how long before someone finally came up with modular jacks on one of these, but proprietary design could be an issue as you stated - even if ya didnt lose the leads what if a plug breaks or worse yet one of those frail looking split jacks. Also, even if it did have a tilt stand the lead plugs might be in the way of it working. I will have to give them credit as being the first to implement detachable leads on a smart meter, only one I know of so far. This one works pretty well, with good accuracy though I still kinda see these smart meters as a bit of a tech novelty and an ongoing work in progress, but progress is indeed being made -- though in most cases I still fail to see much reason for choosing one of these over some decent full function $25+ meters available for the same money., they seem like a novelty gadget looking for a specific purpose - but they are improving and to each his own right-?

    Hi Darren have you noticed that this meter and the Ht118a both have difficulty reading capacitors in circuit, they don't even try to produce a reading they both go blank? I find this very strange. Now I know for best reading it is best to test capacitors out of circuit as sometimes it is just plain impossible to take a reading.
    But using my old wavetek 27xt I can often take a reading in circuit , testing the same cap with the 2 cheapo meter I can't see anything on the screen?
    It looks like the Wavetek is using a different technique to test capacitors. It's not as good as my esr tester but get the job done most of the time and the cheapos can't? Weird
    I must say this small meter is very fast thats why I got it, for the most part faster than my other 4 meters!!! Cheers

      Great points Luc...absolutely not good at reading caps in circuit, most CHEAP-O Multimeters are guilty of this as well but as you know removing them or at least part of them from the circuit is preferred.
