Blake, I appreciate you giving me another way to look at captive bred situations on wild animals. I have always said just as you pointed out that all animals need to be in their natural habitat and not locked up in a collection. You my friend have gave this old dog a new way to consider what is actually better for the animals as a whole. I am a new subscriber and love your set up. Thanks again :)

It sounds like you trying to buy a Hickatee. If not that, then another rare turtle but the Hickatee is rated the rarest in the world. Good luck to you. You are a man on a mission. If I had the $ I would just give it to you. I respect the way that you care for the animals. ❤
Thank you for the tour Blake. I have heard on different channels that you have become an awesome ambassador for the turtles and tortoises that are your passion. It's totally understandable that you have to downsize for a chance to acquire a favorite breed. I'm guessing you're going to be getting the Ryuku Black Breasted Leaf turtle, only because you mention wood turtles being your favorite turtles coupled with the difficulty of finding the Ryuku turtles myself.
Those radiateds are so gorgeous, it just kills me. I'm so tempted, but I don't have the confidence to manage diapause during incubation.

Your comments would make me think that you were getting Geometric Turtles, with similarities to the radiated turtles. Most endangered however, there are only about three trurtles and are the Yanghtzee Giant Softshell Turtle. So, unlikely you are getting those, as you indicated 5-8 people in North America have these turtles.
Now the Ploughshare Tortoise, that is a real beuty and if you were able to get those, it would be worth it.
Others similar to radfiated would be the Burmese Staer Tortoise or the Southesaast Asian Narrow Headed Softshell Turtle
The other fantastic turtle that I can think of is the Painted Terrapin, an unbelieveably beautiful species that indeed, look like they have had personalized paint jobs. Those and the Geometric, I could understand what you are doing. Personally only these two others could be considered to cause you to decimate your turtle population.
