I absolutely love learning the history of fish, and animals. Glad you didnt actually edit this put like he said.. this man has so much knowledge! I love it!!!!
I remember visiting friends of my parents who moved to FL in 1970. They had a son my age (9 or 10 then) and in addition to “hunting” for reptiles in their backyard we would go to the local canals and catch all the fish he mentioned (green mollies, mosquito fish, killifish, etc.) for his aquarium. Most of those old canals are gone or too polluted to support life now, it’s sad really.
I worked at a couple of tropical fish farms back in the late 70s in central Florida, it was fascinating work. I dealt mostly with live bearers but spent some time with all of the pretties. You really need to go back for the pond draining! It'll be like Christmas.
Very impressive artist designed award winning fish. The aviary pond has really come together into a piece of paradise. Always looking or updates on that!
Hopefully the turtles have been relocated out of the aviary pond after that incident involving the Wood Duck ducklings. Blake hopefully knows not to put any large or aggressive fish species (Oscars, Pacu, etc) in that pond. Large fish eat ducklings in the wild just as frequently as turtles. Koi, goldfish and other ornamental fish will not pose any problems. Losing those ducklings was completely avoidable with just a little advance research, it goes a long way in avoiding such animal husbandry catastrophes. I’m honestly very surprised Blake didn’t realize aquatic turtles would be a threat, live & learn I suppose...
Blake loved hearing the story on the history of the fish and artwork was really fabulous. Yes, go for the drain would be awesome. Love the fish both of you picked out for the aviary beautiful colors.
There is so much wisdom to be gleaned from this conversation. Thank you for sharing, and congratulations on your amazing fish haul! How big do those male guppies get?
Mr Blake thank you for the fun & educational video! I learned alot today & got too see beautiful fish! I cant lie every time yall showed different fish I was like oh hey fishy lol! I love fish & aquatic life! Its calming & beautiful! I love what you & your family do to save & conserve & teach about Gods creatures! Yall have beautiful hearts! Mrs Kenya (sorry if I misspelled that!) Your so fun & a bubbly person I just love you! Love & blessing BEAR fam!
Great video, I remember buying fish from the pet department at Woolworths in my small town I grew up in and they would put the fish in those boxes. They had some kind of wax lining and usually worked pretty well. When plastic came along we thought it was a big deal....lol.
Used to come to this place all the time to fish shop with my grandfather for his koi pond (eventually became an exotic pond) when I was little, bringing back some really great memories. Glad to see a video like this.
