SECRET Skills in The Sims 2

- Secret or hidden skills are skills that a Sim can get better at, but will not appear on the user interface. The Sims 2 comes with 10 secret skills (3 of them were added to the game with various expansion packs) and I'll showcase them in this video. Towards the end I'll also briefly discuss a special Romance skill that was meant to be included in the base game, but was removed during the development and later reassigned in the Seasons EP, although it doesn't seem functional.

Fun fact about dancing skill: sims will react to sims dancing. Low-level sims will get laughed at while high-level sims will get cheered on. At least that's how it feels to me...
@@Kabotynka That might be true indeed. I guess it mostly depends on grouchy/nice personality (after all, unless the sim is shy (they escape the room), grouchy sims will taunt while nice sims will watch in shock when witnessing a fight). Well then, only thing left to do is test it out...

One more thing about meditation: needs will stay the same as when you start meditating.
Yep, very useful if used right (i.e. before work if your Sim's close to a promotion)
Did you know that sim's paintings are also a bit more expensive after the artist has died? I'm not sure if you've featured it or if it's a known fact :)

Granting a scholarship in the Sims 2 is just so incommensurately easy, you have level 5 of sleeping skill? Scholarship, you have level 5 breathing? Scholarship, you can use the toilet ? Scholarship.
Fun fact: in my country Study skill memory was translated as 'Sim learn to read'. It looks so fun especially on teen sim xD

A note about Tai-Chi... once your sims learn how to do it.. they'll want to do it like ALL THE TIME they are idle... that's a little annoying for me, but idk if you also have that issue

I remember i had a mod to fix that issue years back. Maybe it can still be found (it was maybe from mod the sims). That tai chi-mania was out of control in my neighbourhood and for example weddings ended up with back yard tai-chi sessions and guests wandering in gym clothes...😅
There's a mod fix in Mod The Sims for that! Since I installed it there's no autonomous Tai Chi in my neighborhood
I literally have a mod that disables auto Tai-Chi haha
I just noticed they re-used a lot (if not all) of the yoga animations for the Acrobat Career in The Sims 3 Showtime.
As for teleportation, the sim also doesn't lose their need while they are doing that, and they can actually stay in meditation till the end of the days :)) I used to do this with elder sims :)))

Maxing writing skill is madness. It goes up by ONE for every book you write. And after Free Time you have to name your book and then receive a copy of it. Pre-Free Time you could just write and write without extra steps.
Good luck maxing it. You'll need snapdragons and the career rewards from Adventure and Journalism (multiple copies help) along with perma-platinum.

Thank you! Unfortunately i don't know of any mods that would make the Romance skill functional or anything similar😔 Would definitely love to see something like that tho, it'd add an interesting new dimension to the game

Sims 3 has a TON of hidden skills, i knew it had some but i was surprised to find out just how many there actually are. Might make a video on them (would probably need to split it into multiple parts lol) in the future

I always thought that these talent badges your sims can get are kind of hidden skills... apparently not 😅
Is the ability to teleport pernament after reaching it once? Or you have to meditate 12h every time to teleport?
After they learn how to teleport, they'll only need to meditate for about one in-game hour before getting the option to teleport again
I love that when a SIM meditates their needs don't decrease and they can teleport anywhere on the lot.
Is there a way to cheat to make a Sim know Tai Chi? Cause I’m wanting to build a custom Far East location and I need the Townies to know how to do that.
The townies that come with the custom locations can’t do tai chi? I thought they’d include tai chi and ninja in order to get the memories and what not :o
@@melodia2772 they have both tai chi and the ninja, just happens randomly
I don't know if it was just me, but for some reason my Sims' hygiene will decrease when they smustle dance. Also your Sims' needs don't decay when you're meditating. I used to make my Sims meditate a lot so I don't have to take care of them if I don't feel like playing them.

As someone who works for an isp, I feel you on torrenting. I'm not scared OF it, but I am scared of being fired. But legally speaking, obtaining an external disc drive and even a second-hand copy of the sims double deluxe for the cheapest price you can find (Amazon is great) and finding the download code on the internet, if your copy doesn't come with a manual, works pretty well.
It's completely safe to pirate.
The only "official" way afaik would be to buy it at a second hand store or on Amazon, eBay etc.
I have my Sims 2 for my mac legally from apple store. But for some reason the apple version includes all other expansions but not freetime and apartment life so its not complete collection.

I miss sims 2, the 4th game is childish all the npc are Indian, most of the npc are gay or asexual. Sims 2 just had better game play, I cannot believe the dont have cars available om the 4th game, I also found it weird you could no longer have a miltary or police officer Sim anymore, but you could have a criminal career base game? Sims 2 is just pure nostalgia about a better time, the years of 2006-2013 are kind of underrated!
