The STATEMENT Win That Arsenal NEEDED?!

- Arsenal’s 3-1 North London derby win against Tottenham has sent them back to the top of the Premier League and was the perfect result for them after losing to Manchester United earlier this season.
- Sport
Beating Spurs is not the reason this win was a statement. Beating Conte is what made it a statement because many people didn't think Arteta had what it took to beat a Conte Spurs.
In a derby that is not a stright red , arsenal always win this game and finished behind spurs for the past six seasons
@@claudemurphy5035 and spurs finished behind arsenal for 19 years before that. Difference is Arsenal won 3 premier league trophies and multiple FA cups. Educate yourself before you speak without any context.
@@claudemurphy5035 arsenal have still won more trophies in the last 3 years 😂 than spurs have won in 20+ during our banter era we still win trophy’s meanwhile spurs are the best they have ever been and can’t win shit
@@claudemurphy5035 Get your salty ass outta here. Spurs are shit hang it up. They have been flirting with defeat all season but teams weren't taking their chances. You also don't seem to understand how refereeing works. That wasn't a 50/50 challenge where he could have gotten the ball he was nowhere near Martinelli ran after him and sinked his studs into the boys ankle. Red all day. Derby or no debry there was no need for Emerson to make that challenge. It was deliberate and purely intended to injure the player.
your joking right ? arsenal win at the emirates , spurs win at their stadium its how its been for years i doubt it will change for a while , as a neutral i expected nothing different and i expect spurs to beat arsenal at their stadium , which will probably be the more crucial points being near end of season
Arteta is extremely underrated only due to the lazy argument that he lacks experience. What people still refuse to see is that he's a highly detailed, intelligent and driven manager. When we lose they say he's naive. When we win they say we spent the most the past 2 seasons. I'm glad Arteta is now getting the respect he deserves. Opposition fans are starting to learn quick that Arsenal are now a force they need to respect. Those that don't are simply in bitter denial
Many pundits are xman- u,Liverpool hence the hate and banter.
I’m proud to be an Arsenal fan again. Not because we’re top or even because we won the derby but, to quote Arteta, the passion, desire, the sheer willingness to fight for the game, is something we’ve been missing for a long time! A brilliant day at the Emirates, the fans have responded 10 fold and long May it continue ❤️
Also. Your analysis is top tier! Thank you for always being neutral and thoughtful! Mucho appreciado mi hermano ✌🏽
Now let’s go out there and win the fogging game against Liverpool
For the first time in years we have a bright and exciting future.. And that’s all thanks to arteta
Oh yeah cause its nothing atall with getting backed by the owners
That Spurs fan is unfortunately right. I think Josh Kroenke being the one that seems to be the top guy. I think if his dad was the one making all the financial decisions it would be a different.?
@@bgorski6937 remember when we started Djourou and Eboue against Barca
@@bgorski6937 tbf, Stan didn’t invest much because he didn’t own a majority of the club afaik. Now he does and left it for Josh to handle it, and he really does seem to want the club to be at the top again. Obviously this doesn’t mean we can’t criticize Stan for the lack of investment during Wenger’s time but I think a lot of it was also down to Gazidis
@@Arban19 bro calm down u ain't even playing barca yet
That was probably the best spurs have played this season too. Spurs are very good in big games. Don’t underestimate that game. Completely different to our last home victory
I only watch Arsenal but was that actually Spurs best game this season? Or are u being sarcastic cus they were shit
doubt that. If that's the best spurs have played all year then they're shit lmao
@@jackdaniels4346 bruh spurs play like shit even against minnows but hit back hard with devastating effect on the counter, this is what I could gather from watching snippets of their last few games. Today in the last 15 minutes in the first half, they did take the initiative.
@@jackdaniels4346 they’ve been pretty shit all season. This was their first challenge. They’ve scraped every game so far and not looked in control in one of them.
It definitely wasn’t the best we’ve played this season, arguably up there with our worst performances based on mistakes. Can’t deny that Arteta really is building smth at the Assna, they’ll be competing for the title for a few years if they keep their players.
Great result I want arsenal to win the league coming from an everton fan
Best part of the game was seeing the empty Spurs stand at the end
The atmosphere before kick was amazing. The singing and we even had some flares inside 😂👍
I appreciate your point on Conte’s somewhat lack of tactics today with the possibility of not having enough time on the training ground, but I don’t agree. I think he saw how MU counter attacked and daggered the Arse with Rashford and Conte saw it fit to utilize those tactics with Kane Son and Richarlison. They were able to interchange and hit a few long balls, but to no end result. I think Arteta saw this coming after MU game and spent countless hours on the training pitch to work on that deficit. COYG
Exactly, those are Conte's tactic. Look at him against Chelsea and Leicester. He even chose Emerson over Sessegnon to defend even deeper.
It’s what spurs do all the time. They just rely on Kane and son to win them games and hold out til then. Imagine how shit they are gonna be when Kane is gone?
I saw this adjustment to the counterattacks in the Brentford game - they definitely learned from the United game, but Partey is the difference. Getting Another 6 in January is a must.
No,arteta is nut and stubborn. He doesn't mind conceding as long as we could score more and that bring back our offensive football tradition. Attacking is arteta style.
@@muhammadhanif4113 not even close to what he tries to do, tries to control the ball in their half. It’s not all out attack at all.
Better than most Arsenal pages at breaking down Arsenal
Love coming to comrade Loz’s channel after an Arsenal win
Arteta has evolved as a coach immensely over the years
Just got home from the game, great analysis as always Loz! ...Other than the constant comparisons to Man City - I don't see that, they may be old City players, but they are playing the arsenal way.
And a side note, loving the longer hair.
Is it just me or is Arsenal a bit unpredictable in terms of where the goals are gonna come from? We’ve had scorers from every outfield position apart from the fullbacks I believe. This might make it hard to figure out how to nullify us
Interesting take. Tierney almost tucked one in
100%. The addition of zinchenko, xhakas change of position and jesus has changed our attack from being stop/start to interchangeable and unpredictable
It’s the Man City model.
Because we are more agressive at attacking. New players also adapting quickly and elevate the games.
you are the only person at the kick off that i dont despise ,unbiased towards arsenal unlike the rest
tbf brian(true geordie) has been fighting arteta's corner a couple of times now, nice to see some opposition fans arent bitter about us turning our bad spell around.
People can clown on Arteta for his drawings and all that but do they realise the players actually buy into that?
Exactly! Whatever Arteta chooses to do in training, the only thing that matters is that the players and the club buy into what he’s doing. As long as do, Arsenal can only move upwards
In all honesty, we smoke Tottenham every year at home.
That was our bread and butter today.
I reckon the real statement win will be if we can knock off Liverpool next weekend.
Exactly, even at our shittiest last season we thumped them. But against a top club like Liverpool? That would be a massive, massive statement, and the club needs it. It’ll propel the board to reinforce in January, given the fact we’ll be playing some big games away towards the end of the season with a worn out squad, busy schedule and possible injuries.
This was more about Conte than Spurs. He got impressive away results against both City and Liverpool last season, beat su to top 4, and Spurs fans now have in their head that they've got a proven pragmatic winner who will change their story. Nice to remind them somethings never change.
You're saying Liverpool now, before this Tottenham match, it was Tottenham Hotspur that was the "Test"...
I won't mind you.
Liverpool played a draw against Brighton today again, you'll say they're not at their best next week again. And that they've not hit form...
Let's wait for the next Sunday match then.
@@opeyemi2077 yes, if we win against Liverpool, our test will be Chelsea and then City. We became a top 4 during the last decade bud, we were title challengers for a long time. If we get complacent after getting results, it behoves poorly for our own ambitions. Next week presents us with the best opportunity in years to get a result against Liverpool while also serving as massive test since they’ll be desperate to bounce back. They walked over us last season, it was embarrassing to the point of humiliation. We go out there next week and show the rest of the league how far we’ve come. Else banter will be back.

Righto bucko.
Cheers for enlightening me on how I'll think and what I'll say in the future....
I've said all along us beating Spurs at home doesn't really prove anything. We gassed them last year after we'd been rock bottom of the table. We always beat Spurs at home.
We haven't beaten Liverpool in God knows how long? Breaking a hoodoo against them will be a statement win.
If you can't wrap your head around that, then there's not much more I can tell ya mate.
Beating brendford the way they did away from home last season was a bigger bigger statement
I'd be fuming with Arteta the way conte gave up who cares it's a NLD 10 men outplayed you don't do what conte did he looked shellshocked when Artera shook his hand 🤣 we move

First video of yours I am seeing. I love how balanced and positive you are. Finally someone sees what Arteta is trying to do and giving him the credit for it!
I love the way that non-Arsenal fans (e.g. Goldbridge and Laurence) are all now taking the position of "We've been trusting the process since day 1, always knew Arteta was a good manager. Arsenal fans should never have doubted him" 😅😅😅
Hahah true true. They were the ones calling him a PE teacher when he first started with us.
Mark corbridge isn't really my cup of tea but he has always backed arteta for years to be fair
Goldbridge has never berated Arteta.
Tbf your point is 100 percent right. Now all people who berated arteta would berate arsenal fans for not seeing the process at first which makes them more relevant now. But yeah as a lot are saying goldbridge didn’t go too cruel on arteta whether or not he saw the process from day 1

It's good to see Arsenal seeming coming back around. It seems that everyone from the top-down do want this to work and are pulling for each other within the organization. I still do think they are a world class player on offense and an upgrade of the defensive backs away from really competing with LP and City and trying to dethrone them. OR maybe the young players they have are 2-3 years away from truly being world class players. But they are definitely fun to watch even if you're not an Arsenal fan.
Chelsea played Tottenham off the pitch when they played them and arsenal have now done the same. Conte old school tactic will work at times but it’s old
Premier league ultra Everton captain , Arsenal captain , managed under Wenger coached under pep = the perfect manager intelligent, young , inspirational and overall a very high class manager !!!COYG so excited the Arsenal are BACK
The thing for me that stands out is simply the performances. Ive always been one to look more at the performance than the result, and honestly I am so impressed by the sole fact that Arsenal consistently now have dominated every single opposition since pre-season. This is a serious team and Im so proud of what Arteta & the staff have assembled.
It is easily the best Arsenal team since 2007 as far as Im concerned.
People should put some respect on Arteta's name He is the best in the country now
Brilliant analysis and talking points. 😊
I WISH WE HAD FOLLOW UP ALL OR NOTHING MAN. SUCH A YOUNG TEAM IT WOULD HAVE MADE SENSE TO HAVE TWO SEASONS
Was so nervous today and so happy the lads got a win today! Did we benefit from a weak red card? Yes, but I think from watching that game I think we were on for a win anyway
That red card wasn't weak, he clearly went for a kill, not for the ball. It was cynical and brutal.
Weak? Let me side tackle right between your shin and ankle wearing studs and then tell me it was a weak red.
What about the CLEAR penalty on Jesus? The game would've been over even before the Royal leg breaker!
Weak ? The ball was on his right side and he stamped down on his left . Clear as day
@@radejovanoski1158 they always look pass arsenal penalties but quick to give against us i agree thats a red card dangerous tackle
I love you you analyze games ! Continue doing what you do
As an Arsenal fan, I'm inundated with Arsenal media, both explicitly and confirmation bias (like noticing an arsenal connected story that isn't directly about Arsenal, e.g. noticing that for the Man City All or Nothing, Pep gave the tactical reigns to Arteta). So my picture, I feel is clearer than most outsiders. The mistake everyone seems to have made, is that Arteta was Pep's "pupil". Fact is Pep isn't in the business of "training" managers, he head hunted Arteta after he and Arteta had several tactical discussions while Pep was at Bayern. (And they are both La Masia) Truth is both Pep and Wenger rated him, the difference was, Pep offered him a senior level job, while Wenger wanted him at U23's. So that's 2 top managers that rated Arteta's football brain. And then we have to credit to Arteta himself. I feel because he recently retired as a player, he understands the modern footballer and how to connect to them in the world of social media more than even Klopp or Pep. You talked about Xhaka staying, but for me, it was keeping Nketiah, I do not think any other manager would have been able to keep Nketiah. Small things, often unnoticed give me confidence we are on the right path. In the AoN, Arteta wanting Saka to be more of a Killer, this season seeing Saka just behave a bit more ruthlessly, shed away the "Hale End" nice guy on the field, become more street wise.
sorry for the thesis.
Studs into the ankle is a potential career ending injury. I've seen Xhaka sent off for far less

I’m high rn lol but I find it beautiful
We only lost our first big test in United, now time for us to face our next big test in Liverpool.
That isn't a test anymore. Liverpool are shite. Easy win for Arsenal.
we were unlucky vs MU ,we dominate the whole game,we didnt take our chance was our downfall rather than MU been any good
This is probably the best time to play City and Liverpool for Arsenal they both look more vulnerable than previous seasons now. Brighton just dropped. 3 against Pool and City showed at Newcastle and Fulham they can be gone at if you’re confident
As an Arsenal fan who doubted Artesyas ability to get us to where we were (winning titles) & also his ability to challenge and win European (Arteta) tittles. But at least i didn’t get I th eArteat out hype train and asked for hi. To get more time, when struggled.
Even if he (Arteta) fails to get us trophies I am happy that he was given the chance to build as what he has done is build a good team/squad with a lot of potential..
The Emirates has FINALLY got the atmosphere of Highbury. That was something that did not translate when Arsenal moved. It's a lot of small things, as I understand it.
YESSSSS COYG!!!!!
Beautiful video Lawrence, why aren't The Kick Off covering enough matches especially Arsenal & Liverpool ones
In terms of the red, I think it was because of intent. The contact was high but if he went for the ball and made a slightly late challenge there, yellow all day. But he was intentionally late, after he saw the ball pass in fact. And tried to hurt the player out of frustration. That intent, to me, is why he was sent off and I agree. Not the contact but the intent to hurt the player was fair
Articulate. 100%. The plan is coming to fruition for now. I stress for now because this season with the World Cup is a one off! Along with other contenders not having the best of starts! This is football! Let’s not kid ourselves! The transformation in this side is truly fantastic! Artetas plan with the players that are well and truly his has been an eye opener to supporters and mainstream! Long may it continue! Happy gooner.
You’re the only person that acc said you could see the vision ball Knowledge is spot on !
Conte really fumbled the bag tactically for us today, no Kulu meant a 3 man midfield was a must. We got overrun badly and totally starched when Jesus dropped deep. Romero tracking him left Emerson covering which is the worst thing you can have on the football pitch. Lloris was dreadful, Emerson as always garbage, Son’s build up has seriously declined. We’ve gotta future-proof a lot more like Arsenal have. Udogie, Sarr, Spence is a start but long long road is ahead.
Udogie is so good. Miles ahead of Sessegnon
Lloris was your best player tbh, it could’ve easily been 5 or 6 today if it weren’t for him
Since when is Lloris so bad at kicking it long? He literally couldn't even get it to the halfway line
@@MikeBird95 If he could distribute you wouldn't have created anywhere near as many chances. He made a few saves that you would expect someone with his credentials to save. The errors and the volume of them was appalling.

I don't think "artetaball" is an improvement over what man city do. I think they are still clinical than we are.
We are great but we still don't find ourselves in those little pocket of spaces that man city players do.
We still ain’t played a big team yet though…. Roll on Liverpool and let’s see
The only statement for Arsenal would be playing against Liverpool and City and winning or at least drawing, at home. Arsenal have always done well against the rest!
We need to sign a top defensive midfielder and a top center forward as the top subs in January transfer window to not lose the chance we've already got 🔥⚽👏🏽😍🏆 #coyg
Arsenal play really good football. I want them to play to city now
We would loose realistically but I think we would be the only club to challenge them
Amazing how how arsenal and man city players free themselves to receive the ball. The movements just a headache for opponent.
Love it. Spot on in that they've thrived using a culture that they've created as opposed to just a temporary thought process.
How do you think this affects arsenal fan culture? One could argue that something like AFTV thrived and has set the tone for the club's dour performance in the past few years- creating and perpetuating a culture that is largely full of toxicity and blame. Where does that go now? How does this community function in the throes of success? Cheers.
I like your attention to detail
Apparently all of Arsenal wins are because the opponent wasn't on it. Long may it continue
Just some advice Lawrence, switch up your thumbnails and make the colors more vibrant, gets more clicks.
Cheers Loz
That’s great and all but let’s see them do at our stadium next time
I'm waiting for a Liverpool focused video. What happens if top 4 is missed? It makes it harder to sign midfielders next year who want CL.
Lawrence is my GOAT podcaster
I think Arsenal can only get better from here. Next season with the additions of Douglas Luiz, Tielemans and Mudryk all being penned down as likely additions (Possibly another backup defender there... Ake?) I can see this Arsenal team being a BIG threat next season
I think if we want to progress to a title winning team we need more than just Douglas Luiz, tielemans and mudryk. I think we need a top quality LCB to backup and potentially overtake Gabriel, maybe badiashile? And a top quality DM, as good as partey is
Not Tielemans plsss.
Yes Douglas Luiz.
And Mudryk looks like a moonshot now after his performances this season, bigger clubs will be coming for him. If we have to get him not only will there be a big outlay but also will test our pull.
hope we dont go after Tielsman, he is shit

Who is here after the match
I was here before the match actually…
I don’t see this as a statement win. Arsenal often beat Spurs at the emirates, and although the manner of it was emphatic, this is not one of those ‘gulp’ games for an Arsenal fan. Beat Liverpool at the emirates…that would be a statement. Because for years Liverpool have been Arsenal’s gulp team, and it’s uncanny how often a team struggling for rhythm suddenly find it in these sort of fixtures. An Arsenal win v Liverpool, regardless of the manner of it, that would be the statement we’re still waiting for. So let’s see how it looks at 19.00 Sunday.
I think Spurs have had these issues since the beginning of the season. Most of their wins or draws haven't been convincing. They've been safe.
Let's be honest! Conte's boys had been getting lucky this season. Are not a viable contending team. And were still in the game, until the suspect sending off! Arteta has turned things around. But let's keep things in perspective Laurence!
8 games in relax, 30 to go smh
Why question marks
It happens to be a coincidence that Arsenal beat Spurs last year 3-1 at home. So it's not the result that's important. I get that. I don't think that, up to the red card, Spurs were that bad. They seemed to be dealing better than most with Arsenal's lethal 5-6 prong attack. And they always had the potential to catch us out. I get the importance of getting one over on Conte and that's a really sound point that he's always got one eye on the door, being a 'name'. It wasn't even as good a performance as last week against Brentford. Maybe it was made all the sweeter by the absence of our weaknesses in the away game. Son ... Holding ... I won't expand on that side ... but, to me, it's Saliba as much as Jesus who's raised Arsenal's game. I'm starting to tire of people going on about him being the best young CB in the league, because age no longer comes into it. I've never seen a more complete player for his role. Check his stats come the end of the season or even in December. We all know how they would read.
Did he say Arteta Ball improves on the way Man City play??? 🤣🤣
🤝
Cellbit ?
Laurence, what football club do you support?
He's a Liverpool fan
Spurs fan here so by all means call me biased but this was in no way a statement win, we’ve not won at emirates in like 15 years, and we’ve still managed to finish above arsenal in most, recent seasons
Tired argument that lol
But I thought Conte was changing the story. This was not some narrow nailbiting victory or like last seasoin when Spurs was in bad shape whne they came to ERmirates This was suppsoed to Spurs side that were showing title credentials, getting results without even getting out of first gear.
@@blackcaesar8387 I still think we will finish above arsenal but we definitely won’t challenge for the league, people saying that are crazy, but even when we did challenge for the league in poch days, we still lost to arsenal at emirates every year
As an Arsenal fan, I don't mind losing to both City and Liverpool after this if we can at least keep winning the other games to reach top 3.
We will not get a better opportunity than this to get back at the scousers for walking over us last season. We should try our best. It will also send a message to the rest of the league, commentators, pundits, etc.
Patience…. let’s play them first before we even think about losing. Fans criticise when we’re down… they’re doing well now. The least they deserve trust & believe from fans which will propel the winning mentality.
Why can't we play Liverpool and Manchester City to beat them were good enough now to at least challenge them
Studs up and high, with no attempt made to play the ball. Clear red card
Arsenal always win this fixture. In the last 29 games at the Emirates, Spurs have won just once. Arsenal are very promising this year, but this result isn't surprising. A statement win would be winning the NLD away, or beating Man City, Liverpool etc.
keep moving the goal posts. We don't mind. We'll just keep enjoying ourselves.
What is unique to Arsenal is the team organization, players versatility, young age of the squad, spirit. And if you observe forwards, midfielders and defenders are all scoring goals which is a great advantage for a team.
