Mysteriously,this song is the very beginning and the very end of Freddie’s chronology of his music and his life. I regard him the greatest genius in modern human music history who composed “ We are the Champions “ , yet sang “ I CAN’T play the game of life to win “ ( in Carol King original version “I CAN” ). It was the year 1973 when he was 26 or 27 years old . The time even before Queen issued the 1st album. We all have the hindsight advantage of Freddie’s life . This song just multiply the mystery and beauty of Freddie Mercury as a person and musician. His life and his music both poetic and prophetic…. a paradox of complexity and simplicity…The end of the song seems to be an invitation from Freddie to us … “ So catch me if you can .. I am going back “ … Really what can we say ? Freddie, catch you wish we can, we are too going back ….This makes the song never really end.. a cycle begins … reminds me “ Then I’d still be where I started “ in another Queen song - Keep yourself alive …

Freddie Mercury utilizó en Goin' back el seudónimo de Larry Lurex para no mezclar y confundir su nombre artístico real con las dos canciones que grabó para una productora (Goin' back, en solitario, y I can heart music, con Queen), ya que era inminente el lanzamiento en el mismo año 1973 del primer Lp de Queen, y Freddie quiso separar una producción propia de otra hecha "por encargo". La grabación de Going back se realizó a finales de 1972 y se comercializó un año después junto con I can heart music. En Goin' back, Freddie (o Larry), con solo 25 años, ya utiliza una voz armoniosa y entona con un ritmo que me deja perplejo del potencial que ya atesoraba. Going back es sencillamente una canción deliciosa gracias a la impagable aportación del mejor cantante de la historia de la música.

My mum and aunts who made me a Queen fan since I was little did not tell me about Larry Lurex. When I heard Going Back in Mother Love I fell in love with it. I went looking for the song. When I told my mum and aunts they said they thought I knew about Larry. I was so mad because I recently found out. I love him just as much as I love Freddie. 😂💖💖💖

This song was released in 1973 after he was already part of Queen. So it could be the matter of conflict of interest.
