One-on-one meetings with your team members are absolutely critical. If done right, one on one meetings could become the single most important driver of their career success-and yours! Research shows that regular 1:1 meetings improve employee performance, increase productivity, and foster stronger relationships between employees and their managers. Yet, most managers struggle to conduct effective one-on-one meetings.
Your FIRST one-on-one with a direct report is a little different for 3 main reasons:
FIRSTLY, it’s an opportunity to establish expectations and goals, and clarify roles and priorities
SECONDLY, it’s an opportunity for you to agree on your ways of working
THIRDLY, just like when you meet anyone for the first time, the first meeting with your direct report will form the basis of their impression of you, which includes establishing authority and trust
Overall, this first meeting sets the tone for the rest of your working relationship, so by getting this right, you’ll be setting things up really nicely for both YOURSELF and YOUR PEOPLE.
You'll learn all the basics of how to have a successful first one-on-one with your staff, to build the initial momentum towards building trust, setting expectations and goals, and enhancing their overall job satisfaction. This includes how to prepare for them, what to cover in them, and how to make them work for your employees and YOU.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to accelerate your career through the power of an effective first one-on-one meeting with your people.

Do you have a guide for managers to download? besides the employee one you provided?

Thanks for the question. Not at this point in time I’m afraid.

The content is great, but I had to put you on 0.75 speed so I could realy sink in the messages you share. That way it is easier to listen.
