  • In this video I finish off Number 3 Market Hill by adding a rear extension, creating interior room details and fitting LED lights. The extension has finely details windows and brick eaves which I made using Scalescenes brick papers and Inkscape.
    Thanks for watching!

The buildings are getting better and better.
    Well done.

Only recently found this channel, thanks to the links from Chandwell, and have loved seeing such wonderful modelling as Deansbury Town evolves - great work, and thank you!

I always paint my building insides matt black (usually with aerosol) before I glue interior decoration and cover layers etc on. I've found that it helps enormously in preventing light bleed and "glowing walls". My construction material is usually foamboard though, but I expect it would work with card.
Nice build it's all coming along nicely 👍

Thanks for the comment. I’ve not had a problem with the walls as they are 1 or 2mm card, it’s the joins, depending on the construction technique. I had to do something similar with the tops of the windows though the best I could do was a slither of black card, which did the trick!

Superb build! Am inspired to use your and Michael's(Chandwell) methodes to make Danish buildings myself. 👍

I'm really pleased to hear it! If you check out the Scalescenes Facebook page there are various non-UK modellers - they are very versatile as a lot of the 'local' feel is in the details. good luck 👍

I've just binge watched all of your videos, very skilful and inspiring. I see there haven't been any more for quite a few months, I hope you're well and that Deansbury is still coming along

Thanks for asking. Unfortunately progress has slowed - general life pressures have got in the way in recent months. I hope to get back into things soon!

Nice job. I just had the same problem with copper tape failing - just after I'd glued the roof in, so I had to hack it off to fix the problem!

Superb, Liam!! I love this building. Using the holes from the eaves as templates for cutting the bricks - absolute genius! One for my toolkit, that! :)

Cheers Michael - I'm still amazed they end up looking close to what imagine before I start building! My scenes are never going to be as grand as yours, so trying to focus on some of the smaller details!

Nice work. The interior details really give the structure a sense of depth and realism.

  • @valentinsn-ostalgiemodellbahn

The building looks impressive, although it is a small one. The great impression is given by the angles of the walls and roof parts. The interior is very classy, the light makes it perfect.
    All the best!

Many Thanks for the kind comments Valentin, its really nice to hear your feedback. The town my model is loosely based on features many smaller buildings, and I don't have a lot of space to let one big building take over the whole scene. May Thanks!

Building looks great. Love the window detail you’re getting with the Cricut. I’ve embarked on trying to make a Metcalfe-style building using the machine and was wondering what size card you are using with the Cricut? I have the Explore Air 2 and though it says it can handle material under 2mm I’m struggling with 1.3mm and 1mm card. Any suggestions on number of passes and pressure settings? I’ve got a lot of comments on your build as I’m attempting many of the same ideas, but I don’t want to hijack your comments too much. :) Cheers, once again, great build!

Hi I'm mostly using 1mm greyboard (or chipboard I think in Cricut or US language!) I have been using the Balsa - 3/32" (2.4 mm) but I have the maker machine and use the knife blade for these cuts. Using 2mm even with the knife blade takes around 8 passes - its not quick but is saves your fingers and you can do other things while it is cutting! If you want to chat more I have a Facebook page - Deansbury Town - happy to share what I've learnt on the Cricut so far....
