- On this food adventure, I went to tour the San Miguel Market in Madrid, Spain. This is a great place to visit, sampling some of the best Madrid's market food has to offer. After the market, I went to El Sur to eat gambas, which is shrimp with garlic sauce, and I had some Cuban pulled pork. That pork was my favorite dish there. For dessert, I ate churros with hot chocolate, and this place was incredibly packed, so get ready to wait in line! To end my food day, I went to one of the oldest restaurants in Spain, Botin and it's famous for its roast suckling pig!

"I had a bite of history tonight, and history had crispy skin and melted in my mouth." might be the best thing I've ever heard Mike say.
Manuel : "I know nothing , nothing......I am from Barcelona!"
His comments are really entertaining
Glad to see Mike's doing well after 100 dumplings 😂😂
101 to be exact 😂😂
Jaime Lee try guys
wow that toilet must've helped a lot 😂😂😂😂
it was 101 dumplings lol
Yea 101
Hello from Singapore MIKE CHEN !!! I am Jimmy Yap - I was the one coming out of the Basement WINE CELLAR of BOTIN Restaurant ( towards end of this video at 23.50 in Dec 2018 !! ).
Today is 8 October 2021 ! I went to the restaurant next door to jam with Pro Musicians with acoustic Spanish Guitars ! Jimmy Yap - Besame Mucho in CZcams
hi MIKE CHEN - A viewer of Ghib Ojisan ( also a full time CZcamsr ) wrote in COMMENTS to ask if I was the one he spotted at end of this video - What a small world!
I didn't have clue I was being videoed by you !!! I was in a video of GHIB on Soba at Coffeeshop
I live vicariously through this guy
I love his food travel videos!
San Miguel is more known as a touristy market. The food is not as good as what you might find in tapa restaurants around the city. The place however does look amazing.
R u 4rom there?
Actually that the best restaurant for tapas in Madrid.
@@samisarowarmarzan8081 I am and he is right but I wouldn't say it has less quality but it has different recipes for foreigners that I have never tried of food that we usually eat here
@julesshort what do you recommend?
I enjoyed the oysters there and the look of the place. For delicious food, I discovered else where. I just came back from Madrid.
One thing I loved about Spain is how they don't use too much salt in their food.. By far one of the best countries to visit if you want to eat along with Greece.
WRONG☺️. SPANISH LOVE SALT THE REASON WHY THEIR IBERICO OR OTHER HAM AS WELL AS BACON AS REALLY SALTY
I’m really happy that you enjoyed Spanish food this much 😊 makes me feel proud of my country 😌💪🏻
This Channel just keeps getting better. The first Video I saw was the Hot Oil Recipe Years Ago and I still make that recipe over and over again. Thank you so much for providing incredible value by sharing these videos.
I'm a lifelong vegetarian and I love you and your videos.
I would be more excited if I ran into Mikey then any A list celebrity.
Same! I would not recommend Spain for vegetarian food, though. heheh
that restaurant has been around for 293 years, that's freaking amazing! makes me want to go.
The oldest restaurant in the world is truly shows why it's still around. Very great pork and potatoes.
We had home made, authentic Paella once in California. It was amazing !
I nearly fainted when the chef confided the recipe and warned me that the delicious spices would challenge my food budget !
Your narration and enthusiasm make us smile !
good stuff Mike! I just spent a month in Spain and hit up San Miguel, great spot! Saw the "sea monster" and everything. The absolute best thing I ate there, and honestly top 5 things in Spain was the Manzanilla olives from one of the olive bars, I can hardly explain how good it was, tasted like a pizza.
That being said nothing beats a Bocadillo with Jamon!
how are you not verified
YES! I love those olives. Next time I go back to Spain, I'm bringing an empty suitcase to pack with manzanilla olives, jamon chips, Fanta limón (NOT the same as our lemon Fantas), jamón serrano and ibérico (although I heard it's difficult to travel with), and like a five gallon jug of olive oil. XD
Paris.. London.. Madrid..can't wait for what's next...thank you for taking us along Mikey 👍
Did you just call Jamon Serrano... BACON???!!! A dagger through my heart....
Andrea Sanchez as in Canadian bacon hopefully
hopefully... lol
Same
He doesn't know better, pet him be
same.
Great thing to watch just before bed 😁

Same brah
Oh no I could never watch this before bed, I have to be eating when I watch Mikey or Ill go on a rampage😂
beautybekky I never watch these before bed. They always make me dream about food that I can't have lmao
SahelPlayzzz hey it’s a developmental disorder, don’t discriminate
Spain for sure on my bucket list👍
here for jimmy!!
Lol that tuna tasted like it lived on land it’s whole life 🤣🤣🤣! Haha I love your humour and your channel is amazing Mikey, I love it so much. I’d love to go to Spain one day that toasted bun with the ice cream and chocolate 🤤
ZiggyOfTheVI no lamb is British and we have pork in the uk
ZiggyOfTheVI you can get lamb form new Zealand and Wales
hey fitAngie it's me, out of shape Angie!
He has the greatest one liners 😂
LOL Hi Angie how are you? @@angiebaby8870
The food looks so wonderful! Spain seems majestic and dreamy ..... Thanks for sharing.
Sambhu Singh someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed obviously with the rude attitude.
@@rajsamb I'd say it's in the top 5 of cuisines along Italian, Peruvian, French and Japanese (those would be my personal choices ofc) but well you can go eat doritos or whatever makes you happy :)
@@julimpd sambhu is probably subscribed to t series
Sambu is rude but not wrong, tbh spanish food might look good but is probably the less healthy and tasty food in west europe, they generally fry or cover everything with oliv oil
@@Arthur-ht4tz dude trust me you know nothing about health
You and Simon& Martina at the same time in Spain! ❤This overload of amazing food will be the end of me..
Exactly what I said lol.
In Madrid you have to try the cocido madrileño, bocata de calamares and callos
Calamari sandwich roll; my most vivid memories of Madrid lol
i hope you eat more things in Madrid, it has more things to offer than el mercado de san miguel
Here's my thoughts on this video. When I saw it, I knew I had to tapas the like button.
Ba dum tiss 😂😂😂
Dwayne Wladyka i give this one 5/7
Your name is so interesting. Dwayne? I’m sorry but where are you from?
dang lol
Why Ethpaña but not mexico or other latin american cuntries
Chocolateria San Gines is my favorite place ever! I loved going there when I went to Madrid!
dude everything you eat looks so good!
even food I would otherwise not eat.
thank you Mike for sharing this video! I'm an American who went to university in Madrid. Its been 3 years since I've moved back to the state but your video just makes me want to go back. Cheer from NJ!
"You don't get dinner after this" Laughed at that and my very thought was, Uhhhh....you are talking to Mike 'Hollow Legs' Chen!
"Apple and pig, that's genius" -said about one of the most classic combinations ever.
He said pork loin not pig lol
He meant it's genius to put them in an empanada
Babe the pig :/
classic? where? i'm from spain and I never had one of those 😨
Btw, I HIGHLY recommend San Fernando Market wchis is less known and less fancy but better and more local market than San Miguel. Check out especially its carniceria with a lot of good meats roasted for you and for good prices.
Sometimes I think Mikey's just a food vacuum...
Edit: Wow. 100+ likes, thank you!
Ahahaha..nice
you are a celebrity now.😂😂 had the same feeling in a previous comment
Wow you got 100 internet points, don't piss yourself. God this website is full of sad attention seekers xD
I loved this video, everything was so different and historic, thanks for a great trip to Spain and taking us with you...keep them coming :)
I used this video as reference for my dietary needs when I visited Madrid....Campano (calamari sandwich) and El Sur (prawns and pork cheeks) were AMAZING!! Especially El Sur....my friend who had been living in Madrid for 2 years had not heard of the place and thanked me for introducing it to him.
Thanks Mike!
10:03 I'm not a big pork fan, but I couldn't eat enough Jamon when I went to Spain. I always ate it by itself, so no wasted space with bread.
So good huh...best ham in the world. Especially iberico
everything you eat looks good
This isnt American food where it's all oily and bad for your health. Go back to JoeysWorldTour
Amazing to see that you enjoy the food from my culture :) Kisses from Galicia, Spain!
Madrid looks incredible! 😁😋Thanks for the awesome video!! 😁👍
Your channel inspires me I can't wait to travel the world and try different foods.. love watching you
I love Tapas! Everything looked so good!
ALWAYS wanted to go to Spain to go for tapas... small bites of yummy food that I can stuff so much amounts of in my tummy? Yes, please :) Thanks for sharing, Mike!
I love watching your videos, Mikey. They are very encouraging for me to get well and build my business so I can reference your videos when I finally can travel with my daughter. Thanks for taking us along and sharing your incredible journeys ❤❤❤
YEESSS I'm so excited that you ate at the ibérico ham place from Salamanca (the bread to jam ratio is typical of Spanish sandwiches)! I love Spanish food so much and lived in Salamanca. Madrid food can be very expensive, but glad you got to try a lot of interesting things. That FAIL tuna empanada made me sad, because one of my favorite things is Spanish tuna and tomato empanadas.
id love to try that calamari sandwich
I don't like calamari, but even I want to try that sandwich.😄
Great to see you in Spain! My husband and I spent a couple of weeks in Barcelona and the environs in the early 1990s and the food was spectacular. If you haven't been to Brazil yet, the food there is also amazing.
This was definitely a highlight of your European trip so far.
This video made me want to put Spain on my food bucket list, right up there with Portugal and Germany.
This make me miss Madrid so so so much!!! There's so much more to Spanish food than San Miguel. And yes the suckling pig at Botin? OUT OF THIS WORLD
If you want to have some delicious pork you really need to visit Austria and go for some Schweinebraten and Schnitzel of course!
There is also a lot of other things that will blow your mind.
Austria is basically the Country every foreigner thinks Germany looks like
god that Calamari sandwich looks amazing
Spanish calamari is so good. I'm pretty sure the squid they use there is different, because it's always GIANT and so soft. I was told they get them off the coasts of Africa, but can't tell you if that is accurate.
I like how you’re honest when you review the food. Glad to see you keeping it real!
Watching you eat makes me happy glad you enjoy it
more Spain !yes!
At 22:50 Grateful Dead in Spain. Like your shirt bro.
I definitely miss Spain I lived there around 1980 yeah well being a teenager lots to explore all over Spain. Thanks Mikey just might have to a trip back.
✌🐼🤳🏼
I adore you Mikey your love for food is just the best ..the tapas was yum and the suckling pig looked totally divine..Another great video my friend ..💗❤️🤗..xx
So glad ive made these videos a everyday lunchtime thing, makes it so much more enjoyable!
If you ever visit Spain again you should go to the south, Granada with the Alhambra and Málaga, Córdoba with the Mezquita. And the food is amazing down there! I could give you a tour hahaha
Gty👍
U have such a huge appetite! Its awesome. Love watching these vids.
Mikey needs to smile more when he isnt stressing about what he's going to eat next or where he's going to eat. You have a really great smile.
The roast suckling pig and lamb looks so delicious and that wine cellar looks so amazing!!!!! I would surely check this out during my upcoming visit to Madrid....Thanks for sharing!!!!!
Going to Barcelona and can’t wait after this video. Have been to San Sebastián and that was amazing as well.
Great stuff mike, I like how genuine you review the food you ate unlike other food reviewer who just go into ecstasy on every food they eat
If you have liked the paella in madrid you need to go to Valencia because that where the tranditional and best paella is
That’s why a classic dish is pork chops and apple sauce. Classic.
I can see where the pork and apple would be good, have you ever tried baked pork chops with apple sauce!? Soooo delicious!!! 😋
I’m jealous, that market is definitely on my bucket list
The market isn't so great, but definitely go to some small restaurants, the churro place, and the jam sandwich de Salamanca place and get that same sandwich he bought with the pork, chorizo, etc !
Wow that dinner looked delicious and what a great place to have a restaurant. Awesome !!!!!
There is amazing food in every country on earth- and finding it is the best adventure!
hey im quite early!oh i miss spain and its tapas 🤤❤ another great video of course!😍
I’m going to Madrid next week!! Perfectly timed video :)
I just got back from a trip to Madrid! Such a lovely city with TONS of awesome food. Cannot wait to return!
That oldest restaurant is just absolutely magnificent & the pork dishes look so great
I watched Ainsley Harriot when he was there the food blogger he talked to suggested tourist's go to places that have menu del dia which are extremely reasonably priced food she also suggested that tourist's stay away from places that look like tourist traps or have menus written in English.
Yeah, the first place is more for tourists, we don't usually eat that kind of tapas, it's a bit luxury
@@byDiegoLLC11 oh I didn't know that just learned it from what I saw on netflix
wat u wrote there is right but the english part well every one uses english now
You need to tour La Boqueria in Barcelona, Spain!!! You’d love it!
That's s touristic place, not really good food or products ... There is better markets that sell fresh food from the sea and more traditional stuff hand made, and better quality.
Woow such a beautiful experience. Nice video.
A trip to this wonderful country was the perfect 21st birthday present i could ever imagine.
regular self supporting citizen: I work 24/7 to live my life
Mike: yeah I eat delicious food around the world to get paid and do it as a cycle
I dont think it was that easy haha. He worked hard to get where he is. He took risks and worked at it.
Aithran Knight yeah I know I just said it as a joke
YES! I’ve waited all day for this!!!
That open faced sand which you made, the first bite, looked like it hit the spot. Buttery, potato, prawn, pork jaw dude. Perfect bire
Yay finally in España 💃 cant wait for the Rest of this series 🎉🎉🎉
i'm so happy you made it to Casa Botin! been there several times. we were in touch with the owner for many years, and have a few collectibles from there. the roast suckling pig. did you try the pickled eels? omg the best!!!
Yummy 😋 empanadas
What a beautiful country and gorgeous food.
This video is amazing, especially the oldest restaurant in the world. Alone, it would be worth visiting Madrid for!
Official world traveler!!!!
Love Spain! Thanks for covering Spain and its fantastic food and amazing culture! I was wondering when you gonna be there :-) Good job! But hey when I was in Spain, we did not go to this place, we went to the much local little restaurants with amazing Delicious tapas!!
Bocadillo de calamares con alioli is an absolute must get in Madrid
I’ve been waiting for this vlog ❤️
Good timing Mikey I'm going to Madrid next week!
23:53 Jimmy
Its amazing food and restaurants,,,,...Madrid Spain
it all looked so good!!!
I love España! I have been many times
Amazing food in Madrid Spain, I like to eat bread with meat.
You've eaten at a lot of places that have made me want to visit them - this is the first time you've eaten at a specific restaurant that I have always dreamed of going to! Man did it look good!! Great video - thanks!
Loved this place, always something different to eat and also went to Botin, the suckling pig was yummo
Where is la tortilla de patata?
OMG!! YUMMY!
Beautiful architecture & building in Spain.
Utterly fantastic video!
