  • How HARD to Open Tail Lights?
    I'm pretty decent when it comes to a dremel, ultra sonic cutter, or these Milwaukee Multi-Tools, but I never know how hard a new tail light will be.

    Its all trial and error on tail lights. I usually paint the lip on the inside black the reseal give a good line on the outside. I use a dremmel and cut wheel. Just take ya time.
    Awesome video as always chris. Learned so much from you. And yes stayed to the end.

    Loving all these videos you're putting out. Definitely watch the whole thing all the way through just like I do with all of them. I did know about the three different types and I've had experiences with two. I'm still waiting on the video to show how to reseal the lights. I've got my way but I would love to see a professional like yourself do it and adapt it in my projects. Thanks so much for all the information and experience you're putting out in these videos

    Made it to the end. After cutting mine open in a very similar way (minus the broken lens) I have a new appreciation for the work put into custom lights.

    Great video as always! Using this as a reference on making my all clear taillights for the scion. Was just gonna swap the lense over from a spec D housing but now I may have to rethink my strategy 😂

    I did stay till the end. I just got a second set of taillamps to work on. 3 out of 4 sides look easy but the last side has a trim in it a lot bigger than the one that is on that lamp. Am I supose to cut off the trim or is there another way? I have a dremel with a flex cable btw

    I stayed to the end and I really want to take a set of charger tail lights apart and see how they work and are built so I can see if I can do anything cooler with them but just not with my tail lights. lol! I'm trying to find a used set off of a wrecked charger to experiment with first.

  • @cortx8685
    @cortx8685 Před 4 lety

    I do vw tail lights from late 90s. They are glued together or moulded together I'm not sure. But the bond does not soften up with heat. Instead I go around between the lens and bucket with a flat screwdriver and give a little twist / pry. I've cracked a few so I know how it feels. But I think I've mostly mastered it now. Can usualy get away with only a few little cracks like the first one you got. Little hairline ones. Love the channel

    Stayed to the end. I have a set of is300 light I have been racking my brain to cut how you have or cut the ultrasonic weld. I think you have a very strong argument about cutting on the inside of the ultrasonic weld.

  • @garforce2
    @garforce2 Před 4 lety +1

    usually sand and lick with a torch to “gloss” it back, takes a lot of time to get it, “eh” and yes almost impossible to get it to stick back together, what i’m going through with ford lights except it’s not sonic weld but rather a weird glue that you heat and cut with a knife, it sucks

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  Před 4 lety

      Yeah man, it's such a different ballgame than headlights. Its like Headlights were put together in a way that you feel like you're supposed to get in there and change stuff, while tail lights have all these warning signs, like "DO NO TOUCH"! lol

    Great video I love that I am pretty good with that tool already but I made a video for you to check out with the blade replaced with a razor to make cleaner cuts hope you check it and it helps had to use this method for my g35 tail lights and u should definitely look ay diffent Blades there are some cool new shaped that might also help cut better

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  Před 4 lety

      Checked it out dude, good job slicing that side marker open! The more I think about that giant clunky multi tool I have with something even more sharp and dangerous on the end, the more that $1600 pro grade ultra sonic sounds like a bargain, lol. I can't afford to mess up my hands these days, and I swear I'd get a nice hardcore cut if I had one slip up! Great idea, and great job though bro!
