    Great help, I saw these little diodes on a popular auction site but thought they were applicable to automotive use, but every day is a skool day. :)

    I used what I learned in this tutorial to fix a camera feedback issue I was having with my BOSS dual camera car stereo in my Jeep Wrangler. I wanted to be able to use the backup camera to watch what was going on behind me in traffic, parking lot, job site, etc. The issue was every time I turned on the camera using the car stereo control my brake lights illuminated. I installed the diodes, one in the stereo camera power feed and the other at the backup light camera power feed. No more backup light illumination when I activate the camera from the stereo. It also stopped the image pulse when the turn signal is active. You can teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks Chris.

    Can also add a resistor to one end to run a constant light limited power for a tail lamp. then hit say the brake on the none resistor line to give full power. With that one could one strip for tail and brakes.

      DazednconfusedRc I’ve done with this a few times, but now I realize all those times I used way too small wattage of resistors. To keep things from getting hot, you’d want a big fat 2 watt or more resistor that can handle the power drop without turning into a red hot little disaster.

    Hi! Great video. Quick question. If I’m adding a relay. Do I add the diode before the relay from the switch or after the relay to the lights?

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  Před 4 lety +1

      Lance Opperude maybe it’s possible to make a dual input circuit with a relay, that cuts power to bright mode when it sees the nighttime lights come on, and then sends power through a 2 watt resistor with the right amount of ohms to drop voltage a bit for night use.
      Basically a custom night time mode, without limiting them during the day when you need the full output to see em.

    Just stumbled across your channel. I'm fairly new to working with electronics, tho I am an electrician. I've recently built a prototype 2 channel strobe flasher for my work truck and was wondering how to go about using the lights I've also built as auxiliary lights as well as strobe warning lights. I had the suspicion that all I needed to do was use a couple of IN4007 diodes to achieve my desired goals and this video of yours confirmed my suspicions. Thank you so much for this!!! Vincent yeah buddy! Now here’s the crazy thing I’m trying to do... diodes for each ground wire going into the reverse panel on the WRX lights, to make them function with animations, AND be able to go into full bypass all grounded at once via relay that’s turning the normal 12v reverse signal into ground 🤔😂😳

    Hey Chris! I have been watching your videos and rewatching to pick up things I might have missed non stop. But I was wondering what tools and parts you use for your testing station, how it's all wired together, and how you're able to control all the little functions with your ghozt modules. I have a testing station that I rigged myself, but I want to make one that looks more clean, less bulky and more out of the way to save space. Keep up the good work! Your videos are always very fun and very interesting to learn from!

    I know this video is old but I hope you see this comment man. I’m building headlights for my wrx and I’m adding profile halos, and xkglow strips. I want to have all of the leds just named running as my DRL but also while low beams are on. Do I have to build this diode setup for that to work? I was going to run the 12v power to the power after the DRL box but also to the low beams power. There’s already a relay that turns the DRLs off when the low beams are activated. So I thought I could just split the 12v power into 2 wires. But I may need to split it using this diode setup?? Please help🥲

    • @flyryde

      jimster1111 custom means you’re generally on your own, so do some light searching, but I wouldn’t hold your breath about finding the perfect new empty case to build in.
      Any cheap LED low beams on the market are gonna perform great. These days even the stuff that sucks doesn’t really suck if you don’t have super particular needs and expectations.

  • @towtruckaj
    @towtruckaj Před 4 lety

    Would be better if you made strobes override the running lights, I don't have the remote module you got but I did use a similar strobe module to make my truck lights strobe, normally they are running lights when I hit my strobe switch it overrides the running lights and strobes instead then back to running lights when strobe switch is off, I don't have a way of remotely changing pattern tho ;/ I gotta manually touch the wire for that lol. czcams.com/video/8Ti9KFxhdqA/video.html
