  • The HBX 1/12 scale looks more like a 1/14 scale. Underpowered for adults or experienced drivers. Those brand new to rc’s who want something impressively large, may take interest but don’t expect this to go on grass or any deep terrain.
    As usual, no affiliate link. Get it if you want. Skip it if you don’t. Available from Amazon. Haiboxing Facebook Group members get exclusive discounts. This one can get to you shipped in the USA for under $50 after tax.
    I forgot to include the other car names in the video edit so posting it here:
    1/18 18859A
    1/16 16889A Pro
    1/16 16890A recently released. Video coming up. Also brushless like the two others listed above.

    Hey this car has a lot of good stuff like metal driveshafts metal spur gear so easy to spend 20 on hbx brushless 2in1 esc & $20 on a2838 moter & then U have a small beast & they are durable great vid

      Thanks but then you may as well get the brushless version out of the box or the MJX 16000 series. This is definitely my least favorite of all the HBX models.

      Approved. Richard? Don’t get this one unless it’s for a kid. It is underwhelmingly slow.

    Looking for my first RC with li-on any suggestions?

    • @Funcentric

      Hbx 16889A Pro. Metal drivetrain of the non pro version (which is also good). Durable, reliable, doesn’t break the bank and the brand has customer service via the Facebook Group.
      Aliexpress, dont pay more than $110 USD for it.

      Thanks! Is it Li-on? Nervous about Li-po..

    • @Funcentric

      @@adamantiumcards8931 that I don’t remember. Lipo will have noticeable better performance. Are you concerned about availability of battery chemistries in your country?
      I don’t think the hbx products are available without batteries but you can surely put Lipo batteries in li-ion cars and visa versa without harm to the vehicle. Lithium ion is slightly more stable of a chemistry and one may say is therefore safer. Both are still lithium so keep that in mind. The safest lithium will be lifepo4 but that’s not really available for rc products not even cars as far as I know. We may get there eventually if the economics of it start to make sense.
      No thermal runaway, more flexibility in rate of charge when stored but also more expensive. I’m sure the latter is a big reason why they are not widely used for this application. Also the size is less dense meaning it is larger and heavier than their counterparts.
      I do have lifepo4 in an ebike I built for the safety reasons but that’s not something that’s available oem these days.

      FYI the HBX 903 here is very underwhelming. Too large for its components so it’s very weak and slow.

    • @adamantiumcards8931
      @adamantiumcards8931 Před 2 měsíci

      @@Funcentric I really appreciate the thorough explanation! The main reason of not wanting Lipo is because the risk of fire but yea I get Ion isn’t out of the question.

    This truck will take 3s battery no problem I even use 4s for speed runs u b very surprised how it handled 4s all stock electric’s lol does like 42

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 2 měsíci

      It won’t last long. Even the full metal upgrade to the original 16889 gets crushed on 3S. Everything gets stripped. It doesn’t handle well enough for 4S. Would need major upgrades to be anything close to reliable. HBX’s are really made to be run stock. This size also doesn’t cater well to 4S. That’s more for 1/10 scale cars. Otherwise just get an MJX.
