Recipe: www.kvalifood.com/page/poached... The recipes I have seen on how to poach an egg makes it all to complicated. It really is a very easy process. And one of the best ways to cook an egg.
Perfect, the first method in the frying pan! I've struggled for years trying to get these eggs right, I have a drawer full of gadgets in my quest, which are now destined for the rubbish bin. My wife loves them - she has never liked them, mostly due the mess it left behind in the saucepan. So many thanks for this breakfast game changer. Best wishes from Edinburgh, Scotland.
I have poached eggs using all 3 methods. But I like the skillet method best. I think I will poach me some eggs this morning for my breakfast and have toast. Thanks for the great video.
Just stumbled across this video, a few years too late it would seem ..... better late than never. I've screwed up poached eggs so many times that I'd almost given up trying. The skillet method shown is incredible !! I'd never have thought of it ...... it works perfectly every time Thank you :)
Yes! I do them in my non-stick stick pan with a little water and cover them just like you showed. I find it the easiest and best way! Great job, thank you! I use gothic steel so I can use my stainless less steel utensils :-)
I poach mine with a small amount of water in a pan, in mini bowls with lid on, and I waste nothing. Too much egg whites get wasted when poached directly into boiling water. That’s my tip. Thanks for yours👍👍👍
Thank you for reminding me how to poach eggs. I'd forgotten how perfect and good they taste without having frustration ruin my breakfast. I also like the idea of a slotted spoon to give a clean edge. over avocado sounds yummy I never thought of that.
Nice video. I love eggs most ways. Probably steamed eggs the most. We keep chooks, and give eggs to our neighbours if there is a slight build up. I was delighted to see you put out 3 for a serving. Hubby eats 3, 2 for me. Dreadful to think of the years the so called nutritional people butchered the innocent egg reputation. Not that I took any notice, nor of much other 'advice'.
I used to use an egg poacher with the five cups, but that became tedious, especially when trying to get the eggs out, even with olive oil and butter (or Pam sprayed on the cups), the eggs would stubbornly hang around in the cups! Grrr!🌋 Now I just fill the pan (non-stick) halfway with water and a touch of vinegar. Then I break the eggs in a pie plate and slide them into the water so that they all cook the same. Put them on buttered toast with a little tarter sauce. I'm drooling just writing this.
A purist would take issue with that first method. Although I'm sure they are fine but with that little water in the pan the eggs are largely being cooked by contact with the steel bottom. That's not poaching in purists terms. Although water checks at 212 max heat steel does not. So the eggs in method one are subject to temps well above those poached in deeper water. Some chefs using the shallow method advocate flipping a saucer over in the pan bottom so the eggs don't contact the hot metal.
I loved the dish you showed at the end with the eggs on top of the salmon & avocado. Must try this. Thank you for an easy way to poach eggs (no vinegar needed :-)
I have a small frying pan with a lid, but I only need less than half/ teaspoon of olive oil heated through to cover the whole of the pan's surface. I put the eggs in and cover with the lid, cook on a low heat for 2 - 3 minutes and they turn out perfect. It's not exactly poaching, but it's just as healthy, and you don't get bits of albumen breaking away.
I always a little White Vinegar to the water. Many years ago I was in the Army and one of the duties of the Early Chef was to cook the breakfasts? He would start with the Bacon and Sausages under the grill. Then he would cook some Poached Eggs for 2.5 minutes remove them from the water and put then into a big tray. He would do the rest of his cooking then just before he opened the door he tipped them into another metal tray with just boiling water to Re-heat and finish cooking them
I have not had poached eggs in years because was not successful making them. Today I tried the 3rd method and had amazing results. Or will be my favorite from now on!
The very simple and easy way, But it is the BEST TECHNIQUES I've ever seen; And l liked it very much! ... Thank you very much, and more power to you Chef!
To poach one: fill custard cup 1/2 full of water. Break egg into cup. Microwave for 1 minute. I will place a large glass bowl over it in the rare case it explodes, but this is what I do every day for just one egg. Thanks for your great videos.
Add a cap of vinegar to the water and the whites don't go all over, also to the swirling water method! A little salt or other seasoning to the water will make some very interesting and wonderful eggs!
Hi Good morning have to try this way because... ... I BEEN doing it with the oil all of this time and I'm really starting to not like the way is coming out with the corn oil is really terrible using corn oil I really got to try to master this with water I think this is the best way I really need to start doing it with water cuz the corn oil is nasty I rather use the water than corn oil I really need to start doing it with water for now on I'm going to try this and see how it comes out if I did it right thank you for the video
The way that I do it is with a coffee cup. I let some of the hot water into the cup before letting the egg into the water. I find that it help hold the egg together better.
Thank you very much ! (... the advantage of swirling the water was obvious: the egg white won't spread out - it holds together better. You don't lose as much of as in the 2nd version). Greetings from Switzerland =) Alexandra
Romeo James use the round egg holders in the fan pan method. They hold the egg together more so they don't spread out so much in the water. Place them on buttered toast. Yes.
I use the swirly method with a small amount of vinegar in the water. My sainted mother told me it helps keep the whites together. Have no clue if that is true. Thanks!
I do poached eggs in a saucepan. The eggs always stick to the bottom of the pan. So I tried soft boiled, but timing is everything, and I ended up with too much raw or overcooked. I guess I need to practice!
The meal you prepared looks beautiful, delicious, satisfying and nutritious!!! ⭐️ I love the relaxed but meticulously detailed approach you use! 😍 My one concern is that it might be too much protein, for me, right now. (Am in the process of rebuilding muscle tone after a long period of illness. So my body can only handle so much exercise every day. Not good to eat that much protein if you can’t use the energy it contains, right?!) Am thinking 2 eggs, on top of half the amount of avocado and salmon you have here, with a serving of either cooked or raw greens, might be more digestible and still ‘lots’ of protein!!!
The protein amount has to be seen over the course of on or more days. A single meal does not make any real difference. I normally only eat two eggs, half an avocado and a single piece of salmon. Since I made this for the video I ate it all. But the meal in the video is actually fine for me: 1 egg 6.3 g protein * 3 = 18.9 g, 2 oz salmon protein 10.2 g, 1 avocado 4.0 g = TOTAL 33,1 g protein. And that is actually in the lower end for a meal with the protein recommendations for someone with my age, weight and exercise routine. (about 200 g per day.)
Perfect, the first method in the frying pan! I've struggled for years trying to get these eggs right, I have a drawer full of gadgets in my quest, which are now destined for the rubbish bin. ...Kvalifood...like the relaxed presentation...cooking without drama...or trauma...thanks!...
Thank you for the instruction. My canine companion appreciates the egg white left overs in the pot. Clean health protein for him.
I have poached eggs using all 3 methods. But I like the skillet method best. I think I will poach me some eggs this morning for my breakfast and have toast. Thanks for the great video.
I just made 3 of these. I've never made poached eggs in my life, and they look AMAZING!
Man...Bless you...i just got up and made 3 eggs your way...simplicity and PERFECTION by all means
Thanks a MILLION

Yes, good with a slice of the seed bread. So healthy.

That is not poached Is steamed!
theyre not poached then! to poach they have to come into direct contact with the water..
Lol fail
barbara timmermans. I cook mine in minis but submerge them completely in the water.
This is not a tip.
Thank you for reminding me how to poach eggs. I'd forgotten how perfect and good they taste without having frustration ruin my breakfast. I also like the idea of a slotted spoon to give a clean edge. over avocado sounds yummy I never thought of that.
When you swirl the water then drop the egg the force of the water keeps the whites closer to the yolk instead of scattering in the pot.
Simple and effective method. Thanks for sharing.
Sally Moodley eggs. Eggs. Eggs. Eggs enough with the eggs bye

Frying pan and lid.... brilliant.
I can finally poach an egg properly.
Thanks
Absolutely perfect. I used a Russell Hobbs non stick pan which I also sprayed with Spray and Cook.
Great video. The first technique is by far the best and easiest. The others require much more water and hence heating time to bring it to the boil.

It's a fucking poached egg, you fucking idiot.
I put them in a bowl with salt pepper and butter mash them up and then dunk toast in it.
I put my Poached eggs on some butterd Toast good also
Thank you for the video. I loved the idea with the frying pan.
I love the shallow water method too. I add a bit of butter for flavor.
I loved the dish you showed at the end with the eggs on top of the salmon & avocado. Must try this. Thank you for an easy way to poach eggs (no vinegar needed :-)
why no vinegar?
Oh my God, they look superb! You make it look so easy!

LOVE IT! LOVE TO SEE MORE!
Looks good. I cool the leftover water and whites, then add it to my dogs' food. They love it, and drink all the liquid, too. Feeds the whole family!
Linda Sue a great idea... I do the same... Or cold the broth left over... And save it for Soups or noodles... Nothing needs to go to waste
I urinate in my leftovers and leave it out for the neighbor's cat.
You're a nice neighbour.
The cat wouldn't eat it, if it didn't like it. If the neighbor doesn't like it, he can keep the cat off my yard.
Kube Dog LOL!
A quality video with much information !
A most satisfying n useful video...thanks.
I have not had poached eggs in years because was not successful making them. Today I tried the 3rd method and had amazing results. Or will be my favorite from now on!

Love you video. My question is, do some people add a tbs of white vinegar to the water? Thank you 😊
Makes me want a poached egg on toast. Thank you for video.
Add a cap of vinegar to the water and the whites don't go all over, also to the swirling water method! A little salt or other seasoning to the water will make some very interesting and wonderful eggs!

Avocado ,Salmon and Eggs, what a meal!!
Amazing
Lava salt? I totally have to try that! I imagine it's just jam-packed with nutrients! I wonder if our local food co-op has it. Or maybe Elliott's.
I use the swirly method with a small amount of vinegar in the water. My sainted mother told me it helps keep the whites together. Have no clue if that is true. Thanks!
