      Thanks, they did raise my spirits which was really needed as my feet were soaked for most of the hike, the scenery was worth it though 😊

    An outstanding evocation of one of England's special places. Stunning photos too.

      It is a very special place, I always enjoyed visiting the Cheviot, although some people might find it slightly boring once you leave the well known tracks there is no shortage of impressive views to he seen 😊

      It is a lovely area, the weather just comes with the territory but the views more than make up for it 😊

      I agree, it may be gorgeous scenery but to see it on a good day with really good weather is rare, still worth the hike though for the occasional impressive view.

    Very enjoyable video Patrick, I especially enjoyed your scramble up Hen Hole and the waterfalls. On the face of it, why would anyone trudge up to the summit of The Cheviot in the rain and mist,? but there is something strangely appealing, I think it's the sense of complete isolation that you don't get on many popular Lake district summits in the summer.

      Thanks, it can seem bizarre to some but that's exactly the reason for me visiting more remote areas, the absolute isolation is exactly what I look for in a hike, absolute heaven 😊

      Hi, I do download some routes, for others I create my own. The route round the Cheviot was downloaded and can be found here :-

    What do you use for navigation

    • @DuncanBaxter
      @DuncanBaxter  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, most of the time when I am out I use the OS map app on my Samsung S5, which allows me to plot the route on a downloaded OS Explorer map and follow via GPS. As a backup I always carry a paper version and compass in my rucksack as well, just in case

      @@jamesbell5788 exactly, the solitude up the mountains of this area is amazing, gorgeous scenery, with your own thoughts and often off the grid (no mobile signal), it's heaven!
