She plays the meanest character all the time and she does it well!!!
She plays it so well you end up falling in love with the mean character! I just adore this woman
You really do! She is an icon for that. I don’t think anyone can play the « evil» character like her. She is the best in my opinion.
which character is that?
I forgot the movie - when the lady told her go to hell, she said " pls I vacation there". I gasped! 🐐
Except for The Cheetah Girls
She is elegant, classy and beautiful! She has that mystery in her eyes! Bref, elle est magnifique
She is my elegant mother in my head.. such an icon
@Utajiri Y yes her eyes are my favorite feature 😍
@@KarineAlourde I’m justtt clicking this and already the first clip of Lynn reminds me of you as if she actually COULD be your Mother and then I see your comment after thinking this! Y’all do kind of resemble plus very classy indeed! 💯👑🥰
@@KarineAlourde Can you one day do a story on Debbie Morgan . She is another Icon that has been on Tv an Movies since the 70s remember her on my children ..She played Angie an was married to Jessie for years on that Soap opera ..
And she played in love an Basketball ...an been on lots of tv shows .
She’s gorgeous,talented,elegant woman ❤️🌺
I can't believe she was 42 when she did A Thin Line... She looked 25!!! 😍😍
Ikyl
IKR!!! Goodness! She definitely was playing alot of roles where she was much older than what most ppl thought she actually was!
@Norman Swann Whatever age she looked, she was beautiful.
Yeh she's older than Martin....
She looked mid 30's to me but still great.
Lynn Whitfield has a good mix of elegance, fun, but still sultry. Definitely a feminine and acting icon.
Lynn was everything in Eve's Bayou and blew me out the water with her Emmy Award winning performance as the architect of entertainment, Josephine Baker. If you haven't read, I highly recommend the "The Hungry Heart' by Jean-Claude Baker & Chris Chase!
Oooo thank you for the book suggestion
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
It is a really good biography.❤️
She gets ostracized and James Earl Jones and Gregory Hines are still praised for interracial dating.
Sums up the double standards and this "community".
I always figured that black men feel just because they don’t want us that nobody else will that’s why they so mad yet they have a whole non black women 😂 shouldn’t they be happy?
Black women need to stop falling for the con. And so what is best for them.
Eartha Kitt said something similar about relationship prospects. So many women getting dragged for having standards
Men get dragged too.
@@TheOlmonroe1 Not as much as women
@@divineshine4482 I wouldn't say one gets dragged more or less than the other.
@@Angel-vv9xo That's our own opinion.
I always used to confuse Angela Bassett and Lynn Whitfield lol, I loved her in 'Thin line between love and hate' I wanted her silver dress, that she wore to the club(chocolate city), and eves bayou.
It's weird people not liking her marrying a white man, if it were the other way around people would support it.
They could be sisters right? Lol both so beautiful and graceful. I love that era in film for black women 😍
@@KarineAlourde I agree
The silver dress was SERIOUS 🔥 🔥
@@deenadream seriously, I need it lol
You know it is always double standard when it come to BW dating and marrying out.
Especially a good looking BW.
I love her so much. She embodies every role of course. Lady Mae is vicious lol. 🥰
Lady Mae is my favorite character she played lol so stylish and vicious
Lord that lady mae Jesus Christ
Have You Reviewed KERRY WASHINGTON ?..... Would You!....
My first memory of her was when she played Raven Symoné’s character, Galleria’s mom from the cheetah girls. 🥰
That was literally my first thought. I’m a cheetah girls Stan. You read my mind
Same
yesss. That is so trueee. Thanks for reminding mee
Same
I wanna see Lynn Whitfield, Angela Bassett, Kerry Washington, and Taraji P. Henson together in a film like I think the feels would be earth shattering. They are all so soulful, commanding, gorgeous, compelling and expressive. Like they are POWERHOUSES. I want to be blown away by their magnificent magnitude. These women make me feel to the depths of my soul in their performances.
Not taraji but the other 3 yes
@@missvida6251 what's wrong with taraji
@@blesbeauty1018 she’s a pick me, she looks desperate always talking about “black men we need you” so cringe
Don't forget Viola Davis
Substitute Kerry and Taraji for Viola
Is it just me or she always had that vibe, then finding out that she dated out of her race Im not surprised;she set herself high and I love that confidence
Marrying white is not synonymous with confidence and high value.
@@lmiller6675 why do you think there are men and women out there that think that in your opinion? Genuine question btw
@@lazercat6467 we can take it back to slavery days honestly..like generally speaking.
@@noproblems3192 true, i have no issue with people dating out it's just weird when they are praised or praising who they're dating based on race alone.
@@lmiller6675 Facts..these folks lost mentally
Love how beautiful and effortlessly elegant she is. ❤️
Honestly I don’t understand why black women are the only ones given the responsibility of maintaining ‘black love’. No one gives black men the same energy.
This is from slavery. The women had to be tough. The women had to keep it going.
Yeah I don’t understand that either I feel black women should date whoever they want
Facts! Black women have to be responsible for EVERYTHING 🤦🏾♀️🙄
I don't blame her one bit.
As a dark skin woman, I had no choice. Y'all know the statistics. LOL!
She is truly elegant and feminine. I have a new respect for her especially after her UnCensored episode
And I loved A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. In her episode, she talked about her whole career and life.
Also, can you do a video on Esmerelda and her culture from the HunchBack of Notre Dame?
Absolutely actually it’s already recorded so be on the look out 👀
I always thought Lynn Whitfield was so classy and iconic. She just screams elegance 💕
Please do a breakdown of A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. Lynn slayed that role 🔥
The hell out of it.
Yes she did.
People marry for love and race should not be a big deal. I started telling my boys when they were young that you can’t help who you fall in love with. It wouldn’t matter to me for a second if they brought someone home who was a different race. They saw this first had bc my Jewish father married a woman from China. He was teaching English to school children in China when he met my step-mom. She treats my father so well. I q
Palepeople don't know what love really is. It just a made up word. You hate a person because of the color of his and her skin. And turn around and talk about loving that same people that you hate because they're different than you. You make us turn our love away from "The Most High Anu" onto you, by breaking his laws. And that not for us to mix our DNA with each other. We as two different beings can't come together, because someone will have to get up something that they will need to live. PBUY!
Beautiful!❤️🙏🏻 As a Brazilian, when I was studying in the USA, it was weird to hear the word "zebra" out of the mouths of people who thought I came from Europe! Where is written that everybody bellow Texas speaks Spanish, has dark eyes and is short?🤦🏻🙄😱 My dad is brown and mom looks like a German. My family photos resemble a UN conference! 🤗 "Who did your nose?" My answer: my parents. "How did you get this perm without harming your hair?" My answer: It is natural. They had this need to label my race! These hairdressing and make up things are huge problems everywhere. I found out (after terrible experiences with black and white hairdressers) that Jewish people are more flexible when it comes to hair and makeup. Nobody asked me if I had contact lenses because there were other hazel-eyed people there. The world would be so boring if everybody could not exchange experiences.
@@scottieking1632 Everything you said was gibberish and don't put the Lord in your nonsense.
@@a.mp.m7340 stop trying to push your lord of England on people. That the only lord you people in America worship. Its impossible to be a Christian without a jewish teacher.
Thats who given American jesus Christ. They given you the privilege to become Christian. To follow their christ, Remember he "The King Of The Jews" and not you "Gentiles."
And look at the picture of your lord, he is a jew. That who you are worshipping each day A.m P.m. PBUY!
@@scottieking1632 Again gibberish and I think some racism. Gibberish all the same.
She's one of my favorites along with Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, Cicely Tyson, & Diahann Carrol.
Same. I’ve recently added Kerry Washington to my list
A breakdown of Eve’s bayou would be much appreciated. The style of black women and their complex stories influenced my own style heavily! Thank you💖
I am a fanatic of her. She's so mysterious, graceful, classy. She deserves more recognition then Hollywood has given her.
I loveeeeee her!! Growing up I always thought I wanted to be like her. Her voice, the way she carries herself, her elegance! Pure beauty!
I love Lynn Whitfield. She is really good at playing antagonist roles. I support her for marrying interracial because I prefer to date outside my race also due to being treated better by non-black men. My mom also encourages it because a lot of black guys now a days just treat black women bad. Its sad how its okay for black men to date outside their race meanwhile when black women do it we are considered "bed wenches ". 🙄
I have the same views.
Same!
I'm not trying to minimize what you said but girl they treat all women bad UNFORTUNATELY
Balance is key but I agree black woman don't owe anyone anything and deserve to be happy and not struggle and stress to death. Wherever that is black or non black do it. 🌷🦋🌷
I definitely agree to explore other options, I married a black American man n he's great. But it's truly rare that u would find good bm. N if they are good bm they are with someone lighter, biracial or white and Latina. I definitely did explore my options, I did get asked to b married to a white man while I was in the Marine corp. But I took a chance on my now husband. N been happy since.
She deserves an Oscar for Josephine baker role she played! I love this woman! She is straight class, so beautiful.
Could you do Marpessa Dawn Ménor she was a half black half Filipino American French actress and she is most memorable from black Orpheus too many people do not know anything about her but unfortunately she’s passed away a long time ago due to old age and a heart attack 💔she also has videos on CZcams from interviews and her singing Portuguese to me she was quite beautiful and mysterious
I agree. Great suggestion
Yessss I love her so much
Same but her life is kind of mysterious not much info can be found
Yes I definitely agree that’s the level of mysterious I want to be😭❣️
Yes, she is iconic in many ways. She can be compared to Lena Horn and Diahann Carrol. Those two preceded her. I saw her play in the movie portrayal of Josephine Baker. She nailed that role. She played in movies with Martin Lawrence and Samuel L. Jackson too.
She is so very beautiful! I never KNEW she was the age she is! She was older than my parents by a year! WOW!
She’s older than my dad by like 10 years and she looks younger than him 😭😭
She’s looks AMAZING! She’s aging beautifully
@@KarineAlourde yes ma'am! She looks as if she's in her 20's! I can't get over it! Lol!
She’s so pretty 😍
I’ve met and worked on a low budget movie with Lynn Whitfield back in 2012 and she is all the things you mentioned in this video. The movie is called “The North Star” and it’s actually right here on youtube if you search for it.
Can you PLEASE do a breakdown of Phylicia Rashad and/or Debbie Allen?
Do a breakdown on Alfre Woodard, the forgotten actress.
I just love her she is epitome of beauty, class and talent.
I always wanted to recreate her outfits from A Thin Line Between Love And Hate! Especially the sparkly dress with the shawl at the club LOL!
"Eve's Bayou" is my favorite film featuring the beautiful, elegant & classy Mrs. Lynn Whitfield!! "The Josephine Baker" is my favorite movie she starred in. Love the way she carries herself.

Yes, we sure do 💕
She’s so elegant and beautiful! I love seeing women like her.
I love her in everything she does, but I agree she was perfect for A thin line between love and hate. And I love her statement to the people who had issues with her marrying a white man "where were the black men offering a better option. Well said!! I feel like too many people criticize with no solutions. What did they want her to do? Sit and wait on non marrying black men to finally come around? Puhlease!
YEEEEESSSSS in Tarot, she'd definitely be "The Empress".
Yes Lynn Whitfield! "Eve's Bayou" was the first I saw her on screen, I thought she was beautiful. I love that she is making her own clothes, by hand. She's so classy

Ruth Negga could DEFINITELY play Josephine Baker!! I wish she would. I'd love to see it!!

Probably a long shot but could you do a break down on Brittany Murphy, her passing still doesn't sit well with me and paparazzi bullied her
And I loved her in Eve’s bayou , she really give smile thru the pain sooooo well on scene.
I always was amazed by this woman’s class and beauty and at the same time her sharpness
She’s a beautiful and an Amazing Actress! 😍 But honestly I feel like they Type-casted her as the ‘Mean Women’ & I don’t like it! She’s very talented & I wish Hollywood would give her a wider range of roles to showcase her talents ☺️
Yes she is a wonderful classy actress! Been watching her for over 30 years! My aunt took a picture with her! Great lady great talent!
She is so beautiful just elegant and simply stunning 😍
I actually had the pleasure to met her father. He was so proud of her, and he was a very elegant, graceful, intelligent, stylish, talented and friendly person.
Thank you for speaking on this icon. She is truly worthy of all the accolades. I love the fact that she is mysterious. It's important to keep your life to yourself.
Her and Jenifer Lewis remind me of each other. Do you mind adding her in the mix?
Oooo yes they could be sisters and absolutely
I love her so much! Such a talent!
I love her 😍. She does everything so gracefully. I used to be told I favor her.
Yes, she definitely reminds me of Ms. Diahann. She did a great job in the movie, "Stomping at the Savoy". So many leading ladies in that movie.
Lynn Whitfield is an Icon I loved her in Eve's Bayou .The Tyler Perry movies an remember the mini series back in the day .
The women of Brewster place with Oprah Winfrey ...❤️

When Oprah was trying to feed Lynn's character and she wouldn't eat, I felt her pain. Lynn is a great actress. She is one of my faves for sure! Anything she is in, I tune in.
My favorite movie with Lynn Whitfield is probably A Thin Line Between Love and Hate too. I’ve honestly never seen her give a bad performance, even if a movie isn’t that good. I also liked her in the first 2 Cheetah Girls movies and Nappily Every After. Great video Karine. 😊
I don't care who she married.....I love this ICON MEGA Talented STAR ⭐⭐✨✨
This my grl. Thin line between love and hate helped me through a bad break up. Real bad.

What an amazing actress and beauty in film. She did a great job in Josephine Baker, but I loved her in Eve's Bayou. Now, we all know that black men throw their white wives in our faces. Im happy to see more black women date/ marry outside of their race. You did a lovely job on this video. Bravo!
I will never forget her role in Women of Brewster’s Place!! I also loved her and the entire cast of Stomping at the Savoy.

She's a very beautiful woman with unique and distinctive looks. She's an outstanding actress in my book. She's one of my faves also, and in my opinion very versatile, and selective of acting roles in which the characters have depth. She appears to be very unique and complex which makes for a very interesting person.
She was 40 plus in Thin Line Between. A classic beauty
