Just to note, my 0-awakening Sophia was hitting 18k+ dmg on the Chapter 8 boss 'Master of All' wearing all 51-gear. She's been a very strong carry in all content thus far. All you need is to put Merrit behind her for the 500-HP/turn self-healing to keep her SP costs down.
With how much emphasis is put on Viola, I think we should give a shoutout to Wingate who is only 3.5*/4* but definitely has a a double-strike if the enemy is weak to dagger or he has a guaranteed single hit break no matter what the enemy is weak against to every turn on every enemy as long as you have SP, you can break 1-2 shields on a single target with him. If you don't need him in front to break, his passive causes the whole front row to do 20% more damage to broken foes. Glancing at his full set of skills, he also has an AoE guaranteed single hit shield break. If you're looking for a breaker he seems pretty on par with Viola just without 5* stats, but easier to get and max/awaken

I’ve always held you in high regard as a content creator. Your energy is infectious, you seem to genuinely enjoy what you’re doing, and you don’t curb that enthusiasm. I quit FFBE a few years ago, but I’ve still tried to pop in when I get a notification. I’m considering CoTC as my next time-sink, and I hope that we see a ton of content from you. Yeah I remember jumping in on his streams watching him do huge batches of pulls with the music playing in the background. Must of been in the first year or two of FFBE. Unfortunately FFBE just had too much stuff to do and I grew tired of it but been enjoying this game so I'll be checking here for some content.

This is just a reminder. some of the 3 and 4 stars and still really good and usable, especially some of the healers. if anyone is rerolling, I strongly recommend going for that breaker over anyone else.
btw, does anyone know if the game will have all the content up to where jp is? I'm playing it but im not sure if I wanna switch over to global and start all over

and dont forget some archer or other class got some decent heal, i got a dancer with all frontal heal, so u can use them b4 u got a decent healer

Hey, just got awakening stone for Theo. Should I use it or keep it? I heard some units need awakening stones to unlock something in the future content.
I got Viola, Lynette and Fiore, and now I'm just saving for Therion and Primrose cause I love them both too much
Dang it Claic, you said the ice girl in your opinion isn't the absolute bestest, I do agree with your Viola assessment since I had her in the CBT, she's really great. If you're still on the east coast I think for us it should start around 11pm EST give or take an hour for early launch. Thanks for the vid.

Whoa claic, honestly 2B was far better utility than A2 and I love A2. From my experience on the Neir banner it’s pretty gives you 9s. I unfortunately wasn’t lucky enough to pull A2 but later on looking at gameplay of the 3 yeah there are several other characters than fill the A2 would on your team. Also, Neir was a free multi cross over

How are people getting both 5 star Lynette and 5 star Viola? I got a 5 star Viola and 5 star Primrose and deleted it because I wanted Lynette lol. Is it even possible to get both of these or did I miss a banner? If I had to get only 1, would it be Lynette or Viola?

after around hundred+ rerolls i got a EXTREMELEY good start and it so much falls off later on. >.<
got viola 5* as a starter and within the first 15 free goodie pulls Millard 5* and Sophia 5* . after that i intend to hoard the rubys but after a random pull i got gilderoy 4.5* and thought: fuck it i'm so close to a 5* and 4,5* full team im gonna spend the rubys....and that was the downfall i guess. thoud be around 80 freepulls and from them i only got two other 4,.5* gilderoy dupes and 4.5* tressa. thankfully i got blessed at least with a 4.5* Lynette short before the final boss battle. but now the account is dried out completely when it comes to free rubys and the chances that i got a 5* dupe by that payed ruby pull is too high to my understandig. well so be it. i need to wait from now on anyway. i stucked like most of us around lvl 30 without a real possibility to level even further.
I re rolled like 20 times & finally got Viola 5 star Theo 5 star & Fiora 4.5 I think it was a good time to settle. Pretty good squad I think

it's funny I started the game without knowing anything and now I have 5 star Sofia Theo Lynette and 4.5 star Flora. Quite happy about that

It’s not fixed. You roll a random 5* depending on the banner (wealth,power, fame) depends who you get viola is wealth Lynette is power.

Money. This game seems to be going the "Another Eden" route of design. Whether or not they pull it off is another question
Most gacha players want good quality starting units.
From what i heard it just makes the game easier. Some sections of the game will require more grinding for your characters progression.
The 5 stars have much better stats then their competitive 4 stars. For example Viola the 5* thief has 373 max Atk, 338 Crit, and 435 Speed vs her competitor 4* Cless who's maxed stats are 273 Atk, 238 Crit, and 298 Speed.
As you can see the difference is massive so try to roll for the 5* characters, they are all like this it's not just Viola.

I dont know if i got lucky or not, but i got Theo, Scarecrow and Fiore in my first 30 pulls. One five star in each of 10 pull. Also all of them are 5 star. No Rerolls done. I just stayed with what i got.

Kind of like Another Eden. Very story based. Progression is slow at start until you get better equipment. Lots of element disadvantage tactics so it will take you awhile before you get there. It does get easier as time goes on, but it’s going to be rough at start for almost everyone. Get debuffers if you want to have an easier time. You can get by with 4 star he

@@happyduke99 She mostly has her Merchant Skills. So you still have things like Sidestep and Tradewind.
Of course Runelord would be insaney but she still works pretty well. I mean the gameplay is different now.

Bruh rerolled for 3 hours yesterday, and 6 hours today and haven't hit a 5 star on the multi a single time... Finna just grab Viola or Lynette on the guaranteed 5 star at the start and call it a day 😒😒

after playing 15 days, here my tier list version:
SS = Lynette (Active 100%)
S = Viola, Fiore, Heathcote (Super strong but lack of SP)
A = Theo, Tressa, Scarecrow (Bad early but strong mid game)
B = Gilderoy, Sofia (Conditional)
C = Millard (Theo can handle aoe regen and this one single regen?)
? = Primrose (Still dun have, but my prediction S)
millard is the only cleric i use so i cant really rate him. but i will say that for a cleric he does has surprisingly high physical attack, which ends up being useful cause lots of ppl have staves and books as weaknesses.
@@digitalchemist3867 Yeah my Milard also lv 74 awakened I, with end game weapon for this patch. He is best cleric 5* right now, cz high potency heal and aoe light dmg 1x. Heal w/o boost alrdy deal arround 1.9k~2.2k, thats to OP when average HP each champion only 2k. We no need heal more then 1k, cz enemy dmg also not to high if we got high def. We can't depends with Milard heal every turn that waste our slot only for heal, we need dealt dmg or buff also. On my oppinion Cedric is suite for this. As 4* champion, he got HEAL + REGEN for 2 turn, with aditional debuff atk skill. That pasive skill also good pairing with Scarecrow type bleeding.
You sold me on Viola or was it her art :)

Do you need to play octopath first?
I highly doubt it, I played Octopath Traveler and couldn’t tell you anything about the story. The only story I can remember is of each individual story of the 8 characters and even then I remember little. I don’t remember there being a very good overall story. Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it.
CoTC is a prequel so no. you don't have to play the OG Octopath

Bro stop saying “you need 5star to shine” or anything like that cuz of course you want 5 star to hit full potential in any character lol
Your rankings are extremely short term, those are very inaccurate estimations if you plan to actually play longer than a week or 2.
Here are major corrections if you want to keep playing for some time:
1) Sophia - 3rd best(A+) after Viola/Lynett. Reason for that is that she is synergetic to Cyrus, who will be one of the best characters forever(figuratively speaking, but certainly for 3-4 years at least is my estimation). This makes her long term potential extreme.
Her literally only weakness is that as standalone unit she is not outstanding
This game is all about setups and not 'indvidual character' power for the most of the 'challenging content'... it's just that there are a few characters who can be fitted nearly anywhere, but that's more of an exclusion.
I don't see an anti ice weakness setup that will ever stop using her in that chain unless there is an even better weakness type available on boss... but ice setup is pretty hard to compete with.
2) Scarecrow - due to the nature of how hunters work - he gets outclassed to the point of becoming useless very soon... he is decently strong unit BUT basically has 0 'redeeming factor' compared to other better hunters, whereas most other 'so so' characters have some redeeming factor that makes them at least niche in some setups/situations... I would say maybe C+ since he is not weak, but still C.
3) Fior - down to B(would say B-) rank.. fares slightly better than scarecrow but ultimately suffers from same issue. A somewhat better character than him overall since she is outclassed less. Has extremely good synergy with one of best 4 star units in the game - Sigrid, making her one of best if not best short term characters.. but short term is short term, so yeah....
4) Gilderoy - D rank. Tank in this game is mostly useless for any serious challenge where you would need 5 star characters to begin with. You will be doing burst damages, breaking and AoE healing instead. Does not help he is a pretty meh character.
5) Theo - down to B rank. His only advantage is being the only okay'ish 5* healer available atm,...which DOES help early, but he is VASTLY overshadowed by a lot of other healers.
6) Millard - D rank.. one of worst long term characters, using almost any 4 star healer instead is not much worse and by time they add content where you need a 5* healer - you will have more than enough to even pity roll an amazing one.
And just a minor extra detail: Lynett is IMO still unmatched by any other buffer in JP. Everyone else(including Viola) can be somewhat replaced with time. So if you are planning to reroll for a short time(just one 5 star) - it's best to go for her.
It's slightly debatable if she is 'best', but she is certainly sharing top 1 dancer place at worst.
That being said she is a very long term character - without actually good units who are worthy of being buffed - she won't provide much to the team.
NB: when rankning the damagers you have to assume similar 'awakening' usually.. which is something like '+' to a unit, material for which you get by getting 'dupe' of said unit(for 5 stars that is)... each unit can go up to +3 in terms of some boosts to him/her and +4 gives unique accessory that anyone can use... the same character currency is also used to upgrade the ultimate skill too.. so there is a total of '+5' you can do in terms of using dupe.
Non damagers have smaller impact from that usually.
