  • This is the Valor Freestanding Gas Fireplace using Direct Vent. I'm showing you the full Installation from Start to Fire! This is my home and out of all the Brand name Fireplaces and Stoves I could install in my home I chose the Valor Madrona Freestanding Gas Stove.

    Heh - I think I'm going to have drywall, plaster & lathe, clapboard and/or some other original exterior covering on this 1880 house, the stucco that was there for many years, and the vinyl siding installed just before we bought. ;)
    I'm not going to be doing it myself, but I just bought a gently used Valor President on line on Kijiji in Ontario from the previous owner (for the equivalent of about $300 US! - reduce, reuse & recycle is how I'm doing all our home reno work) and now I know what the installer will be doing. (If I were in Utah, I'd call you.) Thanks!

    Looks good......be careful with the location of the curtains.

    It's call a 'balanced flue' as the fresh air and the exhaust are concentric with the exhaust being on the inside obviously and then diverted in the snorkel on the outside.

    Just wondering how you managed a woodburner that close to curtains.

    I would have liked to see how you you turn it on and whether you could run a thermostat to the wall or not.

      This stove comes standard with a remote thermostat and wall mounted bracket. We have videos on the "Maxitrol" remote control operation. Thanks for the question.

    Just curious.... Why didnt you vent it through the roof?

    • @louf7178
      @louf7178 Před 5 lety

      khatun 777 Probably because it looks like it is a direct-vent burner with concentric combustion air / flue pipe - less to do this way.

    I have same stove. NO white flames, only blue. I have readjusted the wood according to manufacturer' s instructions about 20 times with no change. Mine looks nothing like yours. I could cry. Please help.

    • @TheKopachi
      @TheKopachi Před 7 lety +1

      It is an air adjustment. More air = blue flame, less = orange. You are better off with a flame that is more blue really. The orange flame looks nice but all its going to do is soot your fireplace right up.

    Can you tell me what the diameter of venting pipe is ? 6inches? Can it be reduced to a smaller diameter?

    • @mrEnergy511
      @mrEnergy511  Před 3 lety

      The size of the Direct Vent Pipe depends on the make a model of your Stove... Do you have a Wood Burning Stove or is it a Gas Burning Stove? What is the measurement of the collar on the Stove? Regardless of what you have you must use the proper size Pipe for that appliance.

    Can it still be lit if you lose power?

    • @mrEnergy511
      @mrEnergy511  Před 3 lety +3

      YES! If your batteries are toast you can switch to manual mode and light the pilot similar to lighting a water heater and turn on the flame 🔥 to your desired temperature.

      Do you heat your whole house with this stove? Does it use much gas to keep you toasty?

    No need to frame out and put firestop in the wall?

      The wall thimble takes place of a firestop.

    I always think why pay for gas id go wood live off free earth it takes work but hey its worth it

    • @therealsparkman
      @therealsparkman Před 4 lety +3

      Very true, but then there are the cons such as either having to purchase corded wood, or having to fell it, buck it, split it, stack it, dry it, bring it in, clean the mess, getting the fire going, maintaining the fire, plausible chimney fires, chimney cleaning, home insurance issues just to name a few. Propane is pretty much the most efficient of the gases with less toxic exhaust, start with a remote or flick of a switch and is thermostatically controlled. No major piping to install through the roof. Need I say more? However, everybody has their own preferences.

      @@therealsparkman live next to little house on the prairie neighbor 25+ years. They live with wood burning and electric. he's in his 60's now and every winter looks miserable ( Well always looks miserable now) with all the aforementioned work. Also has to climb on the roof to wire brush the metal flue, I imagine as well as they set it up it, creates a sooty mess inside! That's a things to consider as you get older. Hes had kids throughout and very rarely did they help him split or pile. Can bet you they live in houses with thermostat.

    What about this, "A minimum of 24" rise is required"
