      Although I agree that it's impossible to have complete zero waste in skincare , however there are innovative ways to lessen it. And the idea of brands being environmentally conscious and finding ways to reduce the possibility of waste to the environment is a good thing, even if it's a marketing.

      @samantarizzi248 Před 4 lety +19

      @Griselda Gamboa We should not make any more products, but that isn't possible because people have the right to do whatever they want and most are looking for profit, obiously we can't survive without money. So the whole system should change. There should be a law regulating these brands, how many products can they produce and how often should they come out with new ones, and stuff like that. I'm not an expert, I'm just telling you my logic.

    • @andrew-song
      @andrew-song Před 4 lety +28

      Griselda Gamboa The problem with these “sustainability conscious” brands is greenwashing. These brands try to market to the appeal of ethical consumerism, when there is no such thing. Unless legislative change is enacted, there’s only so much we can do as consumers to fight back against corporations utilizing wrongdoings such as human slave labour.

    I understand why everybody else is kissing ass for Rihanna. At best, they are trying to support PoC brands. Some, like Hyram, basically say these products are shit but in the most apologetic way possible. If you were earning a huge chunk of your income on youtube, you wouldn't risk being cancelled by your audience (who mostly love Rihanna and support black-owned brands) by being brutally honest.
    The advantage Dr. Dray has is her audience tends to be intensely scientific and critical. They care about ingredients period. Most of all, she's a doctor. It won't really hurt her financially to lose a few subs.

I do think he overhyped the ingredients but honestly he does that all the time... he doesn’t understand how ingredients work together in formulations and the difference between an ingredients benefits per the manufacturer vs the actual evidence. People think he’s way more educated than he is. But overall I think he offered a fair review. Pretty much every mineral sunscreen has a cast so how can he hate on a chemical sunscreen from an inclusive line? And there’s zero evidence chemical filters are bad, it’s just his preference since he lives in Hawaii.

    At this point, who even *needs* a new product/product line? I'd be fascinated to see their sales numbers in 2 months. If this came out 2 years ago it most likely would've flown off the shelves, but now so many people already have more products than they can even use and the market is so saturated it's drowning. People are also a lot wiser to ingredients and I think fragrance is looked at much more critically than it once was - I know I've evolved with it. Fragrance never irritated my skin and I've used products with it for years, however I began to question exactly why a brand has to include it because at best it's useless and at worst it's irritating, so I don't purchase products with fragrance or essential oils anymore. I also see a huge trend in a beauty facebook group I run of women downsizing their skincare routine and focusing more on the basics - cleanser, retinol product, moisturizer, sunscreen. I've seen this happening for the last year, but it's really been picking up steam, including myself (which I never thought would happen). My understanding is all 3 cost $75. I've heard "oh it's a good starter line". For who? $75 is a little steep for 3 products, not least because there's so much else out there for less money. $75 is a bit much for most teens and early twenty-somethings, and as a 36 year old, I don't find this appealing. This release just mostly annoys me and you're correct, people will forget about it in a few weeks.

AND in usual videos speaking about fungal acne for example he’ll link other skin care influencers such as esthetician’s and dermatologists such as dr dray , if he was intending to steal I’m sure he’d not link anybody in his description who IS actually a professional like a dermatologist or esthetician. he knows it’s important to his subscribers that they get the most accurate and reliable info. if not by him then people like dr dray ! than again I respect ur opinion and know everybody has their own opinion !

    I hate how people are stating that Dr Dray is fear-mongering fragrance in skincare and being excessive with sunscreen. She worked in clinics and would see patients who suffer contact dermatitis and skin cancer. There are lots of evidence in studies stating that fragrance can be sensitizing. Of course there will be a lot of people who are able to tolerate fragrance in skincare and they smell good, but she's a doctor and would recommend the safest options to people. For Dr Dray, sunscreen works as her daily moisturizer as well, and you have people who go around reapplying hand creams throughout the day which is a moisturizer for the hands, so why not "moisturize" your face throughout the day as well and it includes sun protection.
    Of course I myself do not reapply sunscreen as often as Dr Dray but her actions are justified and she isn't just scaring people for the sake of it.
