It affects everybody differently. My brother got his wisdom teeth out and was cursing and being crazy. I came out of it and I was extremely calm and I remember it all too lol. I wish I had a crazy experience but I didn’t
Well speaking from being anesthetized three times in my life, if you're like me, you're probably just going to feel real tired and ready for sleep. And when you wake up you feel weird sensations that you know can't possibly be what it feels like, yet you're too tired to care enough to ask. Going back to sleep is all you care about.
@@girl1213 you are talking about general anesthesias, for other matters as wisdom teeth you just got local anesthesia, wich doesn't force you to "sleep".
@@antoinepierre7589 My wisdom teeth removal wasn't a normal one. I needed teeth pulled as well and it was easier and faster on everyone if they did it all at once. So I was put to sleep for my own comfort.

It did absolutely nothing to me, both times I’ve been under with it. My mom was furious because she was hoping for some good video.
It can remove all inhibitions. A USAF buddy had to get the gas for dental work. When he was checking out, he realised his cheek was sore. Seems he said something naughty to the dental aid, and she slapped him! Haha...! 😆

So true story, I had my wisdom teeth pulled and they drugged me so I wasn't conscious when it happened. When I woke up, I was singing "I feel pretty"... which had to have been hysterical because I'm a big scary-looking bald guy. Sadly, there was no video of this. :(
I remember waking up from wisdom teeth and my mouth was SO dry I couldn't swallow. My tongue was sticking to the back of my throat and I thought I was going to choke. When I got home I couldn't drink water cuz my mouth was so numb, bloody water just fell out of my mouth all over the kitchen floor. That's when I started crying and my dad was trying so hard not to laugh at me.
This was 25 years ago so I got a TON of Percocet after... I was high for a month! You're lucky if they give you six nowadays.

The kid with the broken arm... His parents keep telling to stop using bad words. I had to go get stitches at the ER after getting myself good at work. In the partition on one side of me was an elderly couple and in the other a very young couple with a little baby. When they injected the numbing and started closing me up it still hurt like crazy, but I didn't want to offend, so I was just yelling things like, "GOD... BLESS... AMERICA!" and, "jiminy CHRISTMAS!"
The Dr was laughing his ass off at me, because I was trying to be polite!

Why here in Europe we don't use laughing gas but local anesthesia by syringe? gas looks funnier
None of these are gas. You can tell because they're not wearing gas masks, and nitrous oxide wears off in a matter of seconds.

I didn't receive laughing gas when I had my wisdom teeth removed (in the US), from what I remember the orthodontist said that it is just an extra step used to relax someone before administering the actual anesthesia. Since I wasn't nervous the gas would have just been adding unnecessary complexity to the procedure. I bet the actual reason has more to do with universal healthcare in europe vs. capitalist business interests here than with anything else though

Seriously. Americans. What kind of drugs yall givin to your patients?! Ive never seen any kind of reactions like this. People are pretty down after anesthesia but they are perfectly clear in the head.
These aren't regular post-op patients. Most have had oral surgery which uses different drugs and I think the black man & the boy are loopy after having pre-op medications. After my daughter had oral surgery she kept asking me the same question over & over. I think she had IV sedation & some Demerol.
@@barbrn still unnecessary for some oral work. they removed all my teeth and later put in implants all i had was local anesthesia. no need to et drugged up for some wisdom teeth.
I've only ever cried like after having my wisdom teeth out other than that no one's ever told me I did anything funny after any of my 8 surgeries

I remember being pretty lucid after coming to when I was anesthetized, but I was very fascinated by the ceiling because my eyes weren't focusing straight and everything was doubled and overlapped. It's amazing how your ability to just be a human just disappears.

When I had wisdom teeth removed and they told me they were gonna put me under my stepmom got all preparee to record me and everything. But other than being groggy I came out just fine, not being weird or anything. She was very disappointed. 😅

It's funny, but I'm also irritated (and a little envious): is nitrous oxide still used for anesthesia in the US (i am from Germany/EU)? Isn't that completely outdated? Why don't they use local anesthesia?
I think it's only used to help relax people, not as anesthesia, but in conjunction. I've had it when I was really nervous about dental work, and it worked but it made me nauseous after a bit.
When I had a tooth extracted they offered laughing gas, which I declined, but they were going to use local anesthesia either way.
I'm just guessing that in USA they have a tradition with gas that we never had.. yes local anesthesia don't have any effect on your status and can be stressful even if u don't feel nothing..but cmon...they are on heavy drugs..lol
I believe they use gas for dental, like wisdom teeth removal- it's why you see videos of ppl loopy when they are long gone and in a car home.
For regular IV for surgery I don't remember being loopy at all. After wisdom was loopy for over an hour
@@carsonhunt4642 I was assured when I had a wisdom tooth removed that with local anesthetic I wouldn't be in any pain even without the gas, so that's what I did. All I had to use was acetaminophen and ibuprofen for a few days. I was still nervous, but it went about as well as it could have.
The worst thing I've ever said while on anesthesia was after a dental procedure, my eyes were closed, and I was wondering why it felt like my eyes were moving all around my face. It was a weird sensation. I don't think I said anything, nobody said anything, but I remember that.

I had two of my wisdom teeth pulled within like 5 minutes using only local anesthetic. Ten minutes after that I was having a cup of coffee and a smoke lmao. Why are US dentists using general anesthesia? Like wtf 😂
I had all 4 of mine done with novocaine, but that was back in the late 80s, and with an army dentist. Given how they got extracted, I kinda wish I'd been knocked out. They had to break a couple of teeth to pry them out of my jaw, and one of the uppers had a super-long root. Lemme tell ya, that is not a fun experience under local.
Yeah a lot of times they have to crack the teeth and then extract, not pleasant.
I don't think it's general anesthesia because you have to have specially trained nurses & a crash cart there. I think they still use gas or IV sedation.
Some people have impacted wisdom teeth, and that's a more complicated procedure. I'll take easy-peasy dental work any day!
I had anesthesia when I had my wisdom teeth done, I remember the nurse saying to please not cuss as much. That’s about it.

Drugs are a hell of a drug!
Once I had to pick up a friend at the hospital, as he was still loopy from the anesthesia. He could walk fine, but the nurse cautioned he could not drive for a couple hours. We talked on the drive to his place, and he was definitely acting "off".
My late Mom had bad experiences with anesthetic, and we had to be very careful when she was in the hospital. It could be life-threatening.
Same thing happened to my mom when I was born. They put her under general anesthesia for a c-section and when she woke up she couldn't breathe. Fortunately a nurse was right there and my mom was able to get her attention before she passed out again.
