When I was a kid I did a rope swing into a river. The rope wrapped up under my armpit as I let go. You wouldn't believe how badly - and for how many days - that rope burn hurt.
And Americans....after bubble wrapping and driving their kids everywhere, they've got no life skills or sense of danger. My grandson age 9 rides his bike to school with all the other local kids scooting and walking. Few adults around for the younger kids keeping an eye, that's it. In small town UK?

Had a friend who was at work one night at a restaurant/bar, looked up at the TV, and saw HIS OWN HOUSE ON FIRE. And he couldn't leave until the end of his shift.... He also narrowly escaped being one of the victims of the truck losing it's brakes on Avon mountain in Connecticut, it was a huge news story here years back...

I was really feeling the guy mowing his yard in the rain. I once started mowing and a freak storm came up and I was in a mood and I just kept mowing. 😂😢😅
Pretty sure it was a rather be outside in the rain mowing the lawn then listen to the wife go on about something for an hour.
Honestly? Knowing how wet grass can jam up a mower, I was impressed he could keep going.
I'd either just be getting started or almost done and it starts pouring. Nah, I wanted to mow the grass, this rain ain't stopping me. Nothing bugs me more than leaving a task I wanted to do unfinished. Cause then I gotta look at it. Also some weeks I don't even have the chance to cut the grass, so it either gets cut right then or it doesn't get touched for several weeks.

As a medical professional I can tell you it was broke
@@jocelynmartin1572 ONLY fatal if it nicks the femural artery... which is a fairly low level risk. It IS still important that she not move (or get moved around) any more than absolutely necessary before assessment and (if needed) the leg immobilized and taken to E.R. for appropriate treatment.
As to "shorter", there are treatments for that, too. They're painful (involving breaking the bone and "stretching" by a traction device, the last I looked) and expensive, but it's certainly not necessarily a permanent issue. It'll depend on how much shorter (mm versus cm, essentially) and the over-all risk versus reward as assessed when they get this fracture or series of fractures treated.
The femur is THE strongest and most durable single bone in human anatomy, AND the human body's ability to heal and recover are pretty amazing, so treat first... then worry about reconstructions or whatever in the case the leg's shorter enough to throw her back out or put her under needless strain. ;o)

One moment of inattention , several years of inactivity. This was on a big plate in a Danish workshop with big machines. "Et øjebliks uopmærksomhed , flere års uvirksomhed" Strangely enough the worst accidents in workshops happen to the most experienced workers , saying "I could control this machine blindfolded" . Once the machine got your finger , it doesn't let go. It will pull out the tendon up to the elbow.

Part of the reason I only tried playing golf once was that the people I went with demanded I wear the "appropriate attire". If I could have gone in flip-flops and cargo shorts I might have had a better time and played again. I'm sticking with mini-golf and disc golf.
