2021 Jeep Gladiator Review - A Great Truck (That Happens to be a Jeep)

- The Gladiator drives like a Wrangler and looks like one too, however, it adds the hauling capabilities of a truck. One might think that this is the obvious truck choice for Jeep fans, but is it good enough to satisfy the usual midsize truck crowd? I've driven the Toyota Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline and now it's time to see if the Gladiator can hold its own in the hot (once again) midsize truck market.

Nothing compares to the feeling of driving a gladiator
I just traded my JK Rubicon for a Mojave and I love it. I miss my JK but I love the flat bed where I carry my camping gear. It is very comfortable vehicle. Jeep is a lifestyle.
I tested the Gladiator and I loved it on and off road, it's a bit bumpy but worth it for what it can do. My whole family loved it as well.
The deciding factor for me was the seating position and customization on the Gladiator. The Tacoma is extremely uncomfortable for me and they’re far more difficult to put large tires on. You can slap 35s on a Mojave with no mods and it works perfectly 👌🏻

I can’t unsee the cut on the rear door corner intended for the position of the rear wheel well on the Wranglers that was just carried over instead of a new, fuller door design replacing it. But that’s expecting too much I think - this is great for what it is!

the steering is more responsive than my 4Runner Limited. It rides smoother than my old JK do to longer wheel base. the 8 speed auto is not as good as my 6 speed manual in the old JK. maybe we will be able to get a rear locker, 4.10, 6 speed sport model in the next generation. But, im enjoying my new Gladiator. lift kit and taller/ wider tires helped my jk ride more like the z71 i had before it, on the highway in all weather conditions. ill probably do the same to the gladiator. ordering a 4xe for my wife this weekend and dumping the 2020 4Runner.

Im a ford guy and would love a bronco. But I need a bed. The penstar is now very reliable. The eco diesel is still having problems. I will be buying a Mojave
I had a 23 trd sport for a month after having a 4Runner thinking they would be similar in build quality…. The taco was like a Camry with a bed…. Transmission was very slow in response and kind of boring…. I purchased a new 23 high altitude gladiator now with 15k miles and could not be happier..
I was looking for a new truck that was a manual. It was essentially this or a Tacoma and the styling of the gladiator definitely killed it for me. Plus reliability of Toyota is pretty hard to beat. Awesome video, really well done!
@DevilDog53 those Nissans looks so similar to all the Toyota’s I’d understand why you’d want a change. I totally get why people like it. Looks like a pretty nice truck and awesome that it’s manual, Jeep’s have just never been my thing. I’m glad there’s still others trying to keep a manual in normal cars

The only thing keeping it from being a decent family vehicle is side curtain airbags for the rear passengers. I guess FCA doesn’t think your kid getting a TBI is an issue…

The short bed and insane price (if you want any decent options) kinda killed it for me.
You really have to watch it on the options, it's so insane to watch yourself add 12 grand of options so easily in the builder. A Sport S is the sweet spot for me! Most of the trucks in this class actually have less practical beds too. I just wish this offered a 6 foot bed option like the tacoma, even if it was just with an extended cab.
Love the color, but price is out of whack.
Well, lots of new truck pricing is pretty insane...and it's probably going nowhere but UP! So buy one now and pay big-money now, or wait (as some "experts" say) and pay BIGGER money later. :-(
Glad I got mine (2021 Gladiator Rubicon) when I did (mid-April 2021) -- I couldn't get it at that price NOW...

@@billredding2000 What I meant is that for that money Raptor or Trd pro are better value, even used.
@@dimitrijeteodorovic6204 ...but those trucks aren't as capable on the trail/rock-crawling as the Gladiator Rubicon is...so I wouldn't even WANT a Raptor or Toyota TRD (even Pro) -- new or used.
And on top of that, the Raptor (and other full-size trucks like Power Wagon, TRX, etc.) TOO BIG to fit in my garage, so only a MID-size truck would do (for my needs). So they're too long, too wide, too heavy, too much/wasted power/torque for the trail (AND hwy-driving) and have a big gas-guzzling engines -- no thanks! I wanted a simple V6, naturally-aspirated...no turbo engine be it a 4cyl or 6cyl. And didn't want a diesel engine, either.
The only 2 (MID-sized) trucks left on my List were the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon (or Mojave).
I'm okay with how much my Gladiator cost (I got a decent price on it though, and did not pay even close to MSRP))...and when it comes time for selling it -- IF I don't just keep it indefinitely -- I'll get most of that money back on it anyway. :-)

Can't believe you pay over $50,000 for a Mojove and not get the painted fenders and top for free. The black plastic looks cheap and unfinished.
