I have this set, and it is AWESOME! Any other release could be edited or overdubbed when the voices for Peter and Janine were changed. But, one difference in the T/L set-mine isn't steelbook, it's regular plastic cases.
On the quality of episodes, and I've watched this entire set already - I hated that they changed Lorenzo Music with Dave Coulier, but you get used to it after a while. Volume 5 of the dvds is really the only set where the Ghostbusters episodes are almost unwatchable. The Slimer episodes are on that volume as well, so for people wanting to only get the "good" years, I'd recommend the first 4 volumes, but if you're already getting four-fifths of it, you might as well get the complete series.
Volume 8: Chicken, He Clucked and Who You're Calling Two-Dimensional?! Volume 9: Doctor, Doctor and Aint's NASA-Sarily So Volume 10: Don't Forget The Motor City and Station Identification These were what was on the British Real Ghostbusters video releases.
About the episodes thing. Each steelbook contains 31 episodes of the show. How do I know? I might get Volume 1 for my birthday and it has my favorite episode on it.
Volume 1: Play Those Ragtime Boos and Knock, Knock Volume 2: A Fright At The Opera and Vankmen's Ghost Repellers Volume 3: The Spirit of Aunt Lois and Cry Uncle Volume 4: Night Game and Beneath These Streets Volume 5: Ragnarok and Roll and Boo-dunit? Volume 6: Adventures in Slime and Space and Sea Fright Volume 7: The Old College Spirit and Ghost Busted
Now this is where getting the seperate volumes has it's plus side. If fans want to see the later J. Michael Straczynski episodes, without going through the 'middle' of the initial run they can do so. BTW 'worst tease ever'!
I Grew Up Watching The Real Ghostbusters & Recording Each One Off The Tv, But Now Today I Bought The Complete Series On DVD.

The SLIMER spin-off hurt the show a lot. But a lot of the people who complain about the quality of the show dropping just have huge JMS hard-ons.
You`ll be lucky if you get this for 20 bucks.
