So here's the Blackstar review, folks, back intact. But needless to say, this will be the last review video that uses clips. The last thing I want is to get shut down for being too thorough in my reviews. :P But rest assured, I WILL continue doing DVD reviews, and I will continue to cover each title with as much depth as I have in the past. Just without clips. Maybe some stills (pretty sure they're okay), but that's it. Anyhoo, enjoy the review!
In many ways, Blackstar was the pre-cursor to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. An under appreciated little gem from Filmation, I've always actually preferred Blackstar over He-Man.
The complete series was recently released on DVD by BCI Eclipse, and for such an obscure series that few people know about, they really gave it the royal treatment! Let's take a closer look, shall we?
Alas, since Geocities shut down, the Blackstar website I talk about in the video is no longer available. Which sucks. It was hilarious to read as a companion to/parody of the show. ,physical media

These was exactly the kind of review that i love to watch, very informative and everything covered.
02:20 Zerany, you're right about the sound and look of the female 'Warlock'. However.
the pink He-Man 'Warlock' was good. In the Episode 64"The Remedy", He-Man rescued it from a giant spider's web- saving her life. Then, right at the moment when He-Man was falling to his doom, she swooped up to catch him. She then aided him for much of the rest of the episode- helping him to reach places he couldn't alone. With her help, he was able to get the antidote for Man-at-Arm's mentor and friend.
My most fav as a child... BLACKSTAR!!!

The one cartoon I never watch in the 80's , but remember having the toys.

@Venefica82 ..there were a few of us guys who watched it then, too....if at least because, in the mid 1980s, we knew that G.I.J.O.E. came on right after it. :)
First of all this show reminds me of Farscape, or rather I guess Farscape reminds me of this show as it did come decades before Farscape was made.
Secondly I think that the original My Little Pony cartoon also should be mentioned among the most popular in the 80's. There was hardly any little girl at the time that did not at least like it a little bit.
I'm pretty sure in one of the He-man eps they had an easter egg of a statue of Blackstar in some kind of treasure chamber..
Man you weren't kidding about the similarities..a hero with 1/2 of a power sword..fighting a blue skinned baddie..a sorceress ally..worth checking out for historical reasons if you're a he-man fan.CURSE YOUR SPECTACLED HIDE. Yet another dvd set i'll need to pick up.
You know, Z-man, the opening song sounds a lot like a version of the superman theme song.

I never saw this cartoon when it was relevant. It's on my list of cartoons to buy but it's out of print. I am very displeased over this. I have the full series downloaded in dvd quality but it's just not the same.

Hi i lost my episode guide booklet for black star and dungeons and dragons if anyone has it could they scan it into pdf and send it to me Ive been scouring the internet trying to look for them so i can print them out again any help would be much appreciated
i wonder did you know that the cominty madesome dc cartoons like the atom green latern the flash justice luge of aminca and teen titans and ithink batman but am not shure i got thisdvd called dc super heros the flimation adventurs sorry for the missspellings

Sean war planets ithink is on DVD in complete form in the us and ithink it might be on Amazon prime or tubitv if you have that service
@@zacharyjochumsen9677 Because Canadian censors don't allow kid's shows with the word "War" in the title. Beast Wars was changed to "Beasties" as well.
@@zacharyjochumsen9677 The DVDs are long out of print, and went under the Shadow Raiders title with War Planets being a sub-title. I never got around to picking them up.
Blackstar = Buck Rogers anyone? :P
I liked this better than He-Man.
