Water is a proven tried and true way of slowing down and extinguishing fires
@@dbdeluxe Water bombing aircraft an't for cities (6 tons water powerfully sent per metter, could provoke severe injuries and damages on soil!), that's ok when you have a huge forrest fire extending on kilometers to bomb water on trees, you'll use water aircraft to content the fire in space, but it's never used to save people or buildings on a localized fire, that would be just inapproriatae, especially on an old building already weakended by fire, it would rather provoke its whole collapse than saving what can be saved! Firemen managed to save the main (structure, etc) while it was on threat, some of these men entered into the weakened church at their own peril to save it, without all what they did, it could have been much worse, they did their jobs giving the best of them with the most adapted means possible, so the cathedral still looks itself (even if seriously 'injured')!

Trump's idea was brilliant! It just wasn't needed. Water may weaken or even destroy structures but artifacts left behind can in most cases be repaired. Most of the firefighting planes are apparently stationed in the south of France, where there are more hot dry summers and forests that can burn, than up in the north where Paris is.
And if you slammed millions of gallons of cold water on heated-up stones all at once, the stones might crack or explode.
That’s untrue and illogical.... the weight and speed of h20 would have extinguished the fire. The roof structure at Norte Dame is steeply pitched to divert water just like it has done for 800 years.. people were much smarter than the people of today and most certainly smarter than the brain drain people that would find late shows funny and use them as their news source like yourself.

Dumping huge amounts of water on fragile, burning buildings. He also advised us that we should rake the forest floor to prevent wildfires. That would dry out the soil and increase erosion from rainwater, compromise the insects and fungi that turn those leaves into soil, and ultimately damage the forest system by removing a natural part of it.

A lot of homeless people can’t really be helped. There’s a lot of mentally ill people (I’m talking schizophrenia type stuff) where they don’t want to be helped, so they really can’t be. It’s way more complicated than finding them all jobs and giving them all a house. Many of them can’t sustain a normal life.
Where were these donors when they needed money to repair it in the first place?
The thing is. the cathedral was undergoing an intense renovation when the fire(probably incidental, and probably due to the renovation itself) happened. So now the renovation is going to be even more intense I guess.

The 737-MAX is not a rebrand, it's an upgraded 737 with more efficient engines. The reason they tend to autoland is because the engines may autostall the plane and the software that should prevent it is/was not reliable.

I understand, and I partially agree, but as an African (most of these people going through the Mediterranean are African I believe) we should not expect anyone to raise money for us. It's their country and their money so it's their choice at the end of the day unfortunately.
I guess it is hard for some to grasp the symbolic & psychological value of Notre Dame to the French. And there will be a huge sum raised also by the "little people" digging hard in their pockets to give 10, 20, 50, 100 Euros towards the massive challenge of repair work, because of this..
But yes - it IS sad that those who can well afford it and who're making major individual contributions don't commit similar support to other crises (especially as many of them find loopholes to avoid paying support through full tax-paying ... even at the rates established under people like DT.)

I guess my point is that it is relatively easy for companies to look generous by donating money to a hugely emotionalized, symbolic story such as Notre Dame. @Tammy - I'm not sure that people are 'recognising a building as having more value", in fact - some of our fellow citizens' real needs are not just the financial & service support needs. I wouldn't underestimate the importance of the way people are drawn together round this building. Loneliness & isolation are major problems of 21st century society, and the sorrow & shock around the burning of the place which is where the bells first rang out to announce "Liberté" in 1944, the place from which all places in France measure their distance ... this brought down (briefly) the walls that keep strangers apart - across all groups in society ... And the value of that is incalculable

So that's what he knows about airlines, and what happened when he took his own advice.
The presidential medal of freedom thing? That's not news. The medal is a throwaway that presidents have always given out on whims. If you look up the list of recipients, they've handed them to their wives, friends, and such luminaries as TV personalities, dancers, artists, and, yes, athletes in various sports. So for that one, Trump isn't really standing out by giving one to a golfer. The PMoF really isn't worth anything, and has no real criteria or standards the recipient has to measure up to.
