Riding the Crossrail Simulator

- TfL asked us down to a depot near Ilford where drivers are being trained up on the new Class 345 trains - some of which are already in operation. It meant that we got to see a simulated version of what the the new tunnels look like...
Camera: Matt Frost.
The waiting rotating circles at 0:50 cosplaying the roundels are officially the most beautiful designer decision ever.
thuspoirot And the new line logo is on the screen below it. It looks good in purple.
“It’s December 2017. It’s a year away. It’s coming.”
November 2019: where’s my train?
May 2020 STILL NO TRAIN?????
Inb4 no trains until 2023
October 2020, still no trains
Its almost november 2020. No trayns
@@soobinsbread590 december 2020
i dont think theres any trains
Geoff vs evil Geoff. Crossrail vs Elizabeth line.
CROSSRAIL
GEOFF, CROSSRAIL
I was lucky enough to meet Howard once, he was a very friendly man and took me for a ride in the cab one of the old class 315 trains from Liverpool Street to Forest Gate. I can't wait until Crossrail is completed!
F**k it, I’m calling it Geoff rail
Yeah, as a train driver I've spent quite a lot of time in a similar kind of simulator. The graphics aren't quite as good as a modern gaming pc might be able to offer, but it's reasonably convincing so as to give you an idea of what it's like to drive the real thing.
Sadly in Portugal they have to open a newly refurbished line weeks after training has been done, because simulators are a thing of the past (80's and 90's actually).
In fact, I found it more difficult in a simulator than driving the real thing, because you don't experience acceleration/deceleration yourself.
True, you do lack that sense of connection to the train in the simulator.
You do if they're on motion bases like many of them are.
You've have thought they'd call up rockstar games and ask them politely to develop some models
i will name it steve
I approve of this name.
#steveline
he's Geoff's CIA double
Finally Geoff are qualified to drive the Crossrail 😍
I dont even live in london but I still like this channel
Same
And I dont even live in the U.K.
loxxxton poxxxton I don't live in London. I live in NYC. I've been to London before and I prefer TFL more than MTA
I live in india still i love it
Geoff is an engaging presenter
Watching this in 2021. I had to laugh, when Geoff says it is a year from opening. Hopefully it will opening in 2022.
Elizabeth Line Noooooo but Crossrail yaaaaaaaahhhhh
CAN YOU SHUT UP!? CROSSRAIL WILL BE IN 2019! THIS NAME IS TEMPORARY. IF ELIZABETH LINE WILL BE WITH FULL LINE IN 2019, CROSSRAIL WILL NEVER RETURN TO MIND OF ALL TFL WORKERS, BUT TO MANY LONDONERS, YES IT WILL!
There is nothing wrong saying Elizabeth line.
The term you're looking for there is 'Simulation Sickness'. It's also experienced by users of VR (Oculus, HTC Vive etc.)
I've heard it called VR sickness. It can get very intense! Takes you by surprise.
I get it with FPS games - its a form of motion sickness - your brain not matching what the body is actually doing.
yet here we are in March 2020 and it's still months away from completion and ready for paying passengers
I was at the front of a Copenhagen metro today (dlr-style driverless) and stations with full platform-edge doors underground looked very much the same as this simulation. Excited for Crossrail!
VERY GOOD AND REALISTIC LOOKING SIMULATOR! 🎉😶👏
Train Simulator 2019 confirmed
just hearing my home area station makes me feel happy
Another great video from Geoff! Wow!
Yay, Ilford was on the video but I must have missed you when you came down. :(
4:49 This aged well 😆
One look at that simulator screen and I was instantly reminded of The Gent In Questions "Let's Play London Underground Simulator" video. Hilarious viewing and highly recommended...
When I first saw the intro at 2am:
JESUS WHAT HAPPENED TO VICK--oh it's just Geoff
Crossrail looks amazing
Great vid. Thumbs up
Crossrail 2 is planned to come close to where I live (Shepperton & Surbiton). Nice video!
Does it vibrate or give and force feedback?
You clearly didn't watch the whole video.
I think this is all pretty cool
"My job is to manage the competence of the people that introduce our trainee drivers to the simulator".
He trains train trainers to train train trainees.
I've driven on one of those simulators, and it is weird, as it does feel like it is moving!
What does an emergency stop feel like though?
Hope this gets added to one of the stations
Watching a few days before December 2019. Still hasn't opened
The closest anyone will ever get to riding crossrail
Crossrail will be an MTR line for London. MTR is an Asian subway company running commuter, metro and express services across Europe and Asia
Your soooo lucky. I would love to go in a sim like that! I hopefully will when im 21.
Crossrail. JUST Elizabeth Line = tube line. Maybe service = Crossrail, line = Elizabeth Line. That also leaves naming space for more Crossrail lines. The (whole) London Underground isn't called the Metropolitan Line now is it?
crossrail sounds good
I wish Train Simulator actually looked that good and that smooth.
They forgot to censor the "E word"
londonbusexplorer What,
its not geoff's channel
Elizabeth Line
noob, they dont need that
I like how you give both names that way smartasses like me can't say "oh do you mean the Elizabeth line"
TRAIN SIMULATOR?
They have a simplified version at the London Transport Museum!
Crossrail, plus I've been on the class 345 last Thursday at Stratford
This ride was really interesting, I thought the simulator would show us inside the new Liverpool street Crossrail station. I wonder where the new Liverpool street pedestrian and passenger subway breaks through into the existing station?
I once went on a ship simulator with ten other people and we had a force 9 gale simulated. Even though we weren't moving, several of us fell over because we were utterly convinced we were violently swaying
The name that they use whilst building the line is Crossrail but actually, it will be part of the LU and called the Elizabeth Line I think
The simulator looks a lot like TS2018, slightly changed/edited
Eric Hogg Looks more like TSW I think.
Eric Hogg ooo, leaked DLC ?
Rob Skip the loading screen locked liked it! @ 0:50
My question here did Geoff and the MTR Crossrail Driver Instructor turn on AWS TPWS DSD CBTC overlaid on ETCS Driver Remainder Appliance to prevent SPAD
We have:
Crossrail Geoff - that doesn't say the EL word
EL Geoff - that "says" the EL word
Like that Star Trek episode with normal Kirk and evil Kirk.
EL Geoff needs to have a beard, so we know he is evil.
How is there two of you, is it the POWER OF EDITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Great video about the Crossrail.
It should be called 'Crossrail' personally! Great video Geoff anyway.
I'm so jealous to you!
Geoff squared.. cool vid
If only TS2018 (Train Simulator) was this smooth. Imagine the computers running this, dream
I think all the Jubilee Line and Crossrail stations should have platform-edge doors, including the overground stations.
I went on the s stock simulator a few years ago!
I was part of the team that built crossrail from mining to fit out. Also installation of the westinghouse platform screen doors (mech eng)
I DID NOT KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A SIBLING!
In Germany we have moving Simulator cabs
Is that a Simulator we can all plan
It’s weird how I’ve never seen someone prefer to call it the E word
they used ETCS system? judging from the appearance of the on board display
And here we are October 2019 still waiting lol
Dovetail Games, you have some competition
I have played the simulator at the London transport museum
those passengers on the platform look exactly like dovetail train simulator ones
Crossrail it is!
I drive trains too irl, mainly dlr ones.
The AWS display is digital.and...no more analog sunflower😓 (and Geoft has very little train driving experience haha) play more Train Sim 20xx or TSW Geoft! hehe
It's December 2018 and where is it???
I remember I watched a doucmabrey jn 2014 seemed like yesterday 3 part bbc cross rail
Crossrail definitely. Not everything has to be named after the queen.
what about the - gasp - Crossrail Line?
NerdCubed needs to try this so he could probably faf around in a proper train simulator.
Please do a tutorial on how to drive the Elizabeth line ❤❤❤
Does anyone know what software this is? I play train Sims on PC and this one looks alot more crisp and the lighting is much better. I'm guessing this software may not be available to the public though
It is for private use
Come to Singapore! We've got driverless trains where you can look out the front and read ends of the trains to see what the tunnels and stations are like.
Driverless subway*
I know this isn't the popular opinion but I'm gonna call it the Elizabeth line because that's what everyone else will be calling it! All the other Londoners who don't happen to be transport nerds! Yes it would be nice if we called it Crossrail, but remember, we're still getting a cross-London railway at the end of the day, they can call it whatever they like and I'd still be happy. Remember that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. It does lend to the problem, though, of what to call Crossrail 2! Another Royal-themed name, or something else entirely? In London's future I see a sort of blurring of all modes of transport, where it doesn't matter what 'mode' you're riding strictly: Underground, Overground, Crossrail, DLR, or Tram. As long as the service frequency and quality is there in the majority of stations, let them all go by 'line' names, if it means Londoners feel they have a more frictionless way to transfer between modes.
Part of the big point of Crossrail is to take travellers off the Central line. We know from Thameslink, that even though it is known about as an alternative to the Northern line, between say Elephant & Castle and Kentish Town, because it feels like National Rail, travellers probably stay away as they feel it's too much of a hassle to change between tube and National Rail and tube again. TfL want Crossrail to basically feel like the twelfth tube line between Ealing Bdy and Stratford/Abbey Wood, naming it a line makes it a mental shift toward getting more people to use it as an alternative to the already packed Central line and maybe even some east-west journeys on the Circle line. I think if it gets the foot traffic to be balanced, it's a good move no matter if we disagree.
We need it on Steam! haha
december 2019 coming up.. hold your breath, horses!
Is there any way of a member of the public paying to use this or another simular simulator? Does anyone who has an idea have a recommendation please?
You can go down and ask and if you're a enthusiast they'll see if theres a chance they can't you use it
It's Crossrail for me. But I suspect that a year or so down the line, most Londoners will call it the "Liz Line" its got that alliteration that will just make it work.
So that's why there's no doors on the front or the back of the train. The walkway is on the side so no reason to go out the front or back.
345 "Aventra" Is the best Aventra To exist
Didn't I hear somewhere that 'Crossrail' refers to the construction company that is building the new rail line, and 'Elizabeth Line' is the name of the new line itself?
Can u ask them if they can put the simulator onto Xbox one on trains sim world
Crossrail!
I think the 345s are running east out of Liverpool Street but not in the new tunnels yet
Ian moseley Yes, they have been running since June and nowadays I think around a 1/3 of TfL Rail services are now 345 operated
why didnt they call crossrail the windsor line or something like that?
So kind of like train simulator with an actual cab?
Looks very similar to Train Simulator 2020 (Railworks / Rail Simulator)
I will call it as Crossrail Elizabeth Line.
Two Geoff!
so when are you going to take a license for any of the rail-vehicles going inside London? It would make for a great youtube-video in its own, and would make some great footage doing "guest appearances" from the drivers seat from time to time :)
A training tip What dp you do when some graffiti guys paint your train
Also the front doesn't need to be yellow as LED lights are deemed bright enough.
Where can we download this game? 😁
just looks like train simulator
Just wondering what kind of motion sickness you'd get if you missed the AWS button in the simulator? That would feel very strange!
Are they charge you much more.?
the end bit... akward its october 2019, where is crossrail? :D
