I’m sure some of the reasoning surrounds sleep paralysis too.. but if you’re like me and just have insanely vivid dreams every single time you sleep, being scared to fall asleep and be as vulnerable as you are when sleeping would definitely qualify for having this type of phobia. Though obviously there will be other ideas/examples from other people.
I’m currently sick and I fell asleep earlier today with my dog next to me, and I had an insanely vivid dream about these dogs/wolves that were killing my family, me, chasing us, etc. it was definitely traumatic.
Another common dream I have surrounds my dad’s death. He passed in 2019 and I have dreams where he’s alive, and I wake up every time thinking it’s real, that he is still alive, and then I have to literally convince myself to understand that he is truly gone. I’m constantly reliving his death and it does make me scared to sleep because it hurts so bad. Like yes I’m so happy to see him alive again, but when I wake up and I have to realize it was only a dream.. it tears me apart.

One of the more impressive things to be about Mark's vast experience with horror games is his ability to immediately identify something as a threat or just an ambient scare. If it can hurt him, he runs the fuck away. If it can't, he face-checks it almost without fail.

I think i used to have that problem when i was little, sleeping used to be terrifying for me because i had frequent nightmares. Because of that i never wanted to sleep because i was afraid of getting another bad dream. Pretty much my anxiety was bothering me i believe

That first jumpscare in the first game genuinely startled me, i also really love the scribbled and kind of crayon/cardboard looking artstyle

I think they're simply an amazing duo, Lixian knows what kind of animations and editing Mark likes and add his spice to it, most of it is probably improvised by now, maybe they planned things at first but not anymore! That's my hypothesis

THERE WAS A WEEN REFERENCE AT THE END OF THE LIGHTKEEPER LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the weird distorted song playing at the end of the Lightkeeper game was from the end of "She Wanted To Leave", on Ween's album "The Mollusk", an album with heavy nautical themes that directly inspired the creation of Spongebob Squarepants. "She Wanted To Leave" is about a sailor whose ship is boarded by pirates, who then kidnap his lover and possibly commandeer the ship itself. The sailor is disheartened to learn that his lover never truly loved him, and the whole time "she wanted to leave", and gladly goes with the pirates. The sailor gathers a crew, tells them to "gather the guns"(procure some cannons), and tracks down the pirates. As he is about to fire his cannons at the ship, his ex-lover begs him not to shoot, because she is now with her true love(either one of the pirates, the ship, or the freedom of being a pirate on the open sea). The sailor sinks the ship anyway, and in the last verse of the song, laments that "I'm not the man I used to be...Now, I'm one of THEM." He has become just like the pirates he despised for taking away his love. After a long silence, the distorted tune from the end of The Lightkeeper plays. It's actually the same tune from the first song on The Mollusk: "I'm Dancing in the Show Tonight", which is a very lighthearted, carefree, and childish song. But at the end of the Mollusk you hear it once more, sad, slow, and distorted to symbolize that loss of childhood innocence, or perhaps to symbolize a faint remembrance to when things were happier, or perhaps to symbolize that the album is like a circle, doomed to repeat. The Mollusk is really good everyone should go listen to it its got fucking OCEAN MAN on it.

I know this video is from a year ago, but I've been binge watching Mark's 3 scary games videos and they are the only videos that are giving me the smallest happiness right now. I'm going through a depressive episode so I just want to say I really appreciate Mark.

I have sleep anxiety or somniphobia I have ever since I was young. I also have dissociative identity disorder so this dream state of accessing memories and thoughts while it being a nightmare type deal is very familiar to me this game is very appealing to me I wouldn't have found it otherwise thank you for playing it! The orb scene speaks a lot to my dissociative identity

Exactly I hate that so much, at the start when Mark kept us waiting for the jumpscare my anxiety was through the roof.
I think I saw a scene similar to this in the anime Baki, where there are two people fighting on sand and one of the characters puts sand in his opponents eyes and he's blinded for some time, he kicks him right after that and says he would count too 10 out loud and then kick him again, he says something along the lines "that you will know something's about to hit you within the next 10 seconds, but you can't see it, you can't defend yourself from it, you can't run from it, you just know that it's coming and you just have to sit there and wait for it to hit you and be in pain." and this is an anime we are talking about, where even a kick hits like a fucking train so the other guy was screaming in agony throughout that scene.
That was really fucking scary for me and that's what happens in this video and I fucking hate it, I didn't liked it in the anime and I don't like it now.
I learned that the only time something scares me is when I'm 100% concentrated on the possibility of something appearing AND when I'm completely aware that it's going to happen a moment before it happens. It's because I get alerted and then basically punched in the fase. That is literally the only situation in which a jumpscare works on me. It scared me in this video when I realised the long winding path was gonna result in Lixian's jumpscare, it scared me in Year Walk, it scared me when Mum walked into the kitchen after turning off the lights in the middle of the night without saying anything.

You use hydrogen peroxide to get blood out of things. Very effective and fast but needs to be used while the blood is relatively fresh.
The first one is by far the scariest fnaf game. Because there's no uncomfortably long / annoying phone call. The one time we actually miss phone guy
