In the UK we dont have independent people who are travel agents it's only proper shops that you go in to and book with payment protection on all package holidays

      Yes you do.
The people may work for a company but they are independent. Meaning, they all work in the store (Thomas Cook), they will get their pay check from the store but that pay check is not the same as everyone else’s. They are paid per customer they help. The more they help the more they get paid.
      That’s how it works.
      Like a car dealership.
This business just had the one person, who just happens to be the owner. If the business took off they would hire someone to help out. The business takes a commission for supplying the paper for itineraries, tickets, computer. The rest goes to the agent who brought them in.

As a travel agent in Canada I cannot comprehend how this happens, In Quebec & Ontario agencies are required to be registered with consumer protection service agencies run by the governments so this cannot happen! Moral of the story, book with a Canadian agent LOL

@@LadyCatFelineTheSeventh actually it's consumer protection so you don't get scammed like this, and if you do you get your money back from them, but ok, you use it as a political statement if it suits your purpose i guess

If that is socialism, it is much better than lawlessness and scams. Some people have knee jerk reactions. Canada is not perfect but definitely better place to be

Be smart and only book direct with the cruise line. The only safe way in my view.

Don’t pay for the cruise until you have to. Keep your money in a savings account until the very last minute.

A Tangerine I have been on 36 cruises. I give them a deposit and hold the remaining until they say I have to pay the balance. I never pay it off ahead of schedule. So, yes, this is very good advice.

A Tangerine Yes! You just misunderstood! I have been cruising since 1996. I know how it works.

A Tangerine Read my first sentence. It’s pretty clear.
