Husqvarna S2800 Splitting Axe - Long Term Review - Solo Logging - Firewood 2022
Husqvarna S2800 Splitting Axe
A more powerful Splitting Axe made for splitting larger logs. The axe head has a non-stick coating which gives less friction and easy entry into the wood and the head geometry is adapted to the splitting application of large logs. Handle protection and long life due to the stainless steel shaft protection. Balance point close to the axe head gives perfect balance and weight distribution. The combination of the optimized axe head and the light shaft concentrates the power into the cut which gives an easier split of the logs. Fiber-reinforced PA shaft makes the axe durable and robust. Hammer function for an easy and effective use of splitting wedges (no steel wedges).

I come here to find a review on an axe and I see this beautiful background. Never seen the channel but God bless you man. I wish I had that kind of land! Assuming you have a lot given this setup. Very good and informative video.
Cheers buddy, no I don't have a lot of land
Have had mine for 1 year now and love it more and more. My heart says stick with wooden handles which I prefer but just cant let this one go, it just work so well. Nice vid brother.
Lol, I agree
Forget the wooden handles. The composite handles can take all the abuse and never break. I love my fiskars X25/X27.
Excellent stuff
Mine came in a couple of days ago and I have only been able to briefly try it out. But Oh My! It splits and swings very nicely.
Great splitting axe!
Very nice! do you know what i mean when i talk about "swingability"? lol , it has great balance
Reasons why you got that chips, and how to never get them again:
First of all, that edge on the 2800, hasn't been properly prepared for the axe to be used (as all edges on new knives and axes should, before first use). If you had put a proper (slightly convexed and polished) edge, which would have also removed that "burnt" steel that all factories create when they grind the edges, then, that edge wouldn't have chiped, would last it's sharpness way longer. The polishing, would have also improved the rust resistance of the edge!
Most of the times, Wood, isn't responsible for the edge chiping. Usually it's a piece of dirt, tiny stones etc, that are allover the surface of a log. You can't do anything about that, it will always be there in random ocassions. What you CAN do though, is what I described above. To be perfectly safe, that you got into the steel that it's heat treat, isn't ruined from the fast factory belts, it might take 2 to 3 sharpening sessions.
Doing that, provides many advantages and a really big performance boost: Axe's edge becomes stronger and tougher, has more rust resistance, the axe cuts for at least 3, if not more, times longer before it needs sharpening again, it also cuts deeper/splits better! Hope this helps people, keep 'em sharp and stay safe!!!
Brilliant comment, cheers buddy
Just purchased one two weeks ago. Does a great job at splitting 14” elm here at the cabin.
Fantastic, I hear elm is hard to split?
I keep getting emails saying its delayed. 4 weeks waiting now . Hopefully be here this week
Fingers crossed
Sounds like a good axe, but I'm old skool, I prefer the feel of wood handles.
I'm with you there
Nice. Just ordered one ☝️
Nice
It would be nice if they made one with a longer shaft.
Agree completely
Thanks god bless
Cheers John
same is the fiskars,,best splitting axe!!!
cheers buddy, we found this is better than the fiskars
Oi little tip. Gardena sells the same axe for a lot cheaper. The husqvarna s1600 is 100 euros. And the gardena version of it A1400, is 60-70 euros.
So I hear, I haven't seen them for sale
@@WoolysWorld i bought it. The axehead is a little different. Little longer en little less wide and more "average". I chopped some big heavy shit with it. And the sheath is quite nice. It isn't very sharp, and the rustproof coating chips.
Thats interesting, so the husky is better built
@@WoolysWorld the axehead is a little better yes. The handle is the exact same. And i still really like how it chops. The metal itself is still really strong. I already hit the ground hard and no chips or bending on the edge.
Nice
How do you find it for splitting soft forestry timber. Is it inclined to get stuck. Thanks
You know , I don't think I've split timber like that with it, Sorry. I'll see if I can get some and test it for you
Hey mate big fan of the channel i love my s2800 had it for a while its a good axe but with your comparison between the S2800 an the X25 maybe try the husky A2400 against the X25 i think is just as good as the S2800 just a little lighter if you like your S2800 you will really like the A2400
That probably would have been a better comparison alright, at the time I didn't know about the lighter husky, keep an eye on the channel, I've another comparison coming out, starting on sunday
Looking forward to it mate an i only recently got the A2400 but so far im more impressed with it if only the S2800 was the same geometry
Are they much different? Besides the weight? The s2800 has great balance , swings great
The only difference i can see is the head shape other than that the swing really nice but what i don't get its why the head shapes are so different either way there both awesome axes but the A2400 seems better to me so far but i haven't used it as much as i haven't had as much chance to
Nice one, let me know how you get on when you've used it a bit
I sm glad for you but Fiskars x27 better
So I hear
Still playing with plastic handles!, oh well they work great! Just posted a short and a five minute video, please take a 👀!😂😂
I'll have a look later buddy, happy birthday by the way
@@WoolysWorld thank you
Too sharp if it’s chipping.
