  • Dr. Shabir Ally addresses Quran 2:275, which states that those who consume usury will rise as if driven to insanity by Satan. Dr. Shabir explains that classical commentators often interpreted this verse as referring to demon possession. However, he argues that this interpretation is not necessary and suggests a more rational understanding: the verse implies that the usurer's mad desire for wealth leads them to oppress others by charging exorbitant interest, driving them to act irrationally. He emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between the divine words of the Quran and the human interpretations found in classical commentaries, suggesting that the verse reflects a metaphor for the destructive nature of greed rather than literal possession by jinn.

I am a psychiatrist by profession. In my practice I dealt with minor cases to extremely severe cases of mental illnesses. With my two decades long experience in this field I surmise, due to chemical imbalances in the brain a human being can be susceptible to influences from Jinn which can lead to extreme behavioral malfunction which sometimes is totally uncharacteristic of a person. So Quran’s take on this matter is absolutely right. 7:06

just out of interest, do you think Jinn possession is location specific or do you think it can happen anywhere? And if the answer is anywhere why would it appear that some countries do not say they have possession?

There appears to be some information that certain psychological illness are culturally informed. An example of this is Schizophrenia in India and Schizophrenia in Western Europe, do you think something like this could be involved in regards to accounted possession?

Our mind and mental status is the sum total of numerous chemicals’ interplay in the brain. If there is an imbalance due to a medical or psychological illness we can experience multitudes of symptoms. People describes Near death experiences as if they are hallucinations etc as in schizophrenia as well. However our prophet’s experience is completely different also he does not meet criteria of schizophrenia. A man with schizophrenia will not be able to function like him. So that is out of the question.

@@pebystroll Untreated Mental illness of any kind is a vulnerable state where people are extremely susceptible for outside influences and I believe they can attract influences from other realms like Jinn or sprits. I am not saying mental illness is the result of Jinn possession. I am saying someone who has a mental illness they can get even worse due to the other influences. Different cultures has different way of looking at these issues.

And for those who disbelieve will be the fire of Hell. [Death] is not decreed for them so they may die, nor will its torment be lightened for them. Thus do we recompense every ungrateful one. (36)
And they will cry out therein, "Our Lord, remove us; we will do righteousness - other than what we were doing!" But did We not grant you life enough for whoever would remember therein to remember, and the warner had come to you? So taste [the punishment], for there is not for the wrongdoers any helper. (37)
Indeed, Allah is Knower of the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and earth. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts. (38)
It is He who has made you successors upon the earth. And whoever disbelieves - upon him will be [the consequence of] his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them in the sight of their Lord except in hatred; and the disbelief of the disbelievers does not increase them except in loss. (39)

Recently, I have come across articles suggesting that the two verses 9:128-129 were added to the quran by humans and were not found in the original quran. I'm pretty sure these studies were made by Rashid Khalifa and his team after the mathematical code 19.

Hes a heretic who claimed himself the prophet of God lol he made that claim to support his other claim of the miricle of 19 which is also false because saying there are numerical miracles in Quran is just an innovation and allah never stated this as Quran is an oral recitation
