    Newt was not the one who endangered a student. Leta also had an interest in magical beasts and it was her that put a life in danger. Newt (being the true Hufflepuff he is) took the blame

    To be honest, I don't think the phrase "Merlin's Beard" is a swear word in the Harry Potter universe, I think it's more like the equivalent of us Muggles saying "Jesus!" or "Oh my God!" After all, Merlin was said to have existed in the HP universe way before any of the character we know and love were born, so I don't think they'd use his name in place of swearing.

      Greta M. I doubt it. The way Slughorn says it in the sixth film doesn't sound like the way you'd say something as extreme as "Holy Shit." I think it's something lighter than that.

      I'm pretty certain Queenie said it in a questioning way as well, as if she'd never heard of it, so I don't think there is a 'rivalry' between the two schools..

    • @Contradae
      @Contradae Před 7 lety +12

      Queenie said "hogwash" to Hogwarts being superior to her school, because she thought that ridiculous. Just some school pride. I would say there isn't much of a "rivalry" per se because her school never took part in the Tri-Wizard Tournament. So the schools are probably in different "divisions" and don't really ever interact with European schools on the other side of the pond.

    • @lizziek7617

    No mention that Dumbledore's sister likely had the same affliction that Credence did? Deathly Hallows made it clear that she couldn't control her magic after some muggles bullied her. That's why Dumbledore's Mom died and likely the reason that Ariana died too. She was probably triggered by Albus, Aberforth, and Grindewald's fighting and couldn't suppress the Obscurial. Dumbledore may not have known what happened because obscurials were considered myth(as shown in Fantastic Beasts). It would also explain Grindewald's fascination with obscurials

    • @fantasyconnect

      mind=blown. That explains a lot!

    • @pedroxqui
      @pedroxqui Před 7 lety

      Actually not... the obscurus as explained in the movie happens when a child is heavily trying to hide his magic, suppress it at no cost. Arianna wasn't trying to conceal her magic for her family was magical, but instead, very sadly, was just deranged for the attack she suffered... In other words, she wasn't repressed, she was just "crazy"... if she was an obscurus she would have killed albus or geller or both

    • @MouthwashTyphoon
      @MouthwashTyphoon Před 7 lety +36

      She might not have consciously suppressed it, though. Maybe the trauma of what those muggle boys did to her caused her to associate her magic with the attack, therefore causing her to subconsciously squash her magic. This still could have resulted in an Obscurus.

    • @MsLioness82
      @MsLioness82 Před 7 lety +7

      I was also thinking that Harry could have also turned out to become an Obscurial if the Dursley's had physically abused him. As it was, magic was already a forbidden word and phenomena in their home, and they treated him very badly.

    There's a scene where Colin Farrel's character, Percival Graves, calls Credence a "Squib" (a wizard-born with no magical abilities like Argus Filch.). This happened before the "big reveal" of who Graves really was. I knew immediately, Percival Graves was non-American. Squib is a term used among wizards in the UK.

      Contradae The trouble with that idea is that he's a high ranking Macusa official, who seems to have the trust of the President.
      Given that he was drawn to America by visions of a powerful Obscurial, which he only managed to locate during the course of the film, he can't have been there all that long.
      I don't think there would be time for a made up persona to climb so high in the hierarchy.

    The song is called Hedwig's Theme. And the Deathly Hallows sign was used and widely known as Grindelwald's personal sign. It is so that Krum tried to fight Xenophilius at Fleur and Bill's wedding for wearing it. Gellert and Albus knew the symbols, but other wizards didn't. Other than that it's a fantastic video!
    As for Leta Lestrange, it is more likely she's the reason Newt got expelled in the first place. Rowling did mention he was kicked out of school for taking responsibility for a mistake that wasn't his. I strongly believe it might've been Leta. If that's the case, it would be one the Sorting Hat's biggest mistakes to place her in Hufflepuff, considering she'd be anything but loyal. Which makes me even more curious to know about her, can you imagine a Slytherin befriending a Hufflepuff?

      Hair can stay intact long enough to be usable years after the death of their owner, he doesn't really need Graves' hair ton impersonate him permanently once he got all what he wanted from his mind, because I guess as a great manipulator, he must be a really good Legilimens.
      Crouch could have had the intention of killing Moody after the Triwizard tournament anyway for xhat we know, he just kept him alive for information about himself or to get him released afterwards, making his intervention unknowable to baffle Dumbledore who did not suspect a thing during the entire year...
