      Came here to say the same! Really bugs me when the Pistons get labelled as 'tanking' over recent years, when we've simply just not been very good/not had young players develop as we'd hoped. I don't think any team ever genuinely goes out intending to lose, although some do make roster decisions that increase their chances of better draft picks, which I think is a fair enough strategy (how else do bad teams get better?) - but can safely say that's not been the case in Detroit, and that this past season especially with Cade back and some decent vet additions there were high hopes of being in play-in contention at the very least.

    So I’m a Raptors fan, and I’m here to provide some context on how our season imploded.
    Namely, to end the season, four of our five starters had either been injured (Scottie and Jakob both missed the last 20+ games of the year), or had faced personal tragedy off the court (RJ and Immanuel both lost close family). We were a G League team cosplaying as an NBA team toward the end.

      Why are you all still thinking about nabbing overall #1 as the end-all-be-all? Outside of Lebron, Kyrie, and Davis. None of the top players of the NBA still playing since 2010 are from the #1 pick. Of all 8 teams still fighting in the playoffs, only the Mavs have the no.1 overall pick playing like one, that is Kyrie. Wemby still has a long road ahead of him, before there is a consensus he is the top dog.

    I think the NBA Draft Lottery is pretty bad because of how many teams stay bad for years whereas in the NFL teams can go from the bottom to the top pretty quickly. Look at one draft recently did for a team like the Texans or the Packers ! from the depth of despair trading away their franchise QB to a playoff-caliber team.

  • @JaeSproo
    @JaeSproo Před měsícem +4

    7:58 time stamp. They had the no. 1 overall. Cade Cunningham is just "OKAY ". So rhey didnt blow it. But they have kinda blown it with Jaden Ivey and Ausuar Thompson. All 3 players "need the ball" and there is only one ball. Matas Buzelis is a 6'10" shooting guard from G League Unite. If he falls to them at 5 they caught a blessing. Either him or the big 7'2" kid from UConn and the Pistons can get serious about competing.

    • @will-sully
      @will-sully Před 23 dny

      Give Cade time - yes he's been a bit underwhelming so far but that's largely been due to injuries and poor roster construction around him. Ausar is an elite defender, if (and potentially a big 'if') he can develop a shot then he could be a hell of a player. Ivey probably needs another year or two to see if he can become something - he's shown it in flashes so far. Priority in this draft HAS to be shooting, anything else and we're just making things worse.
