Il y a des chansons qui sont comme des marqueurs temporels et je peux me souvenir exactement où j'étais et ce que je faisais alors que cette chanson passait en boucle à radio. Gros succès, super chanson.
Cette remarque est intéressante, car moi aussi je me souviens. La nuance est qu'à l'époque je détestais cette chanson, c'était une torture :))
Oui mais je trouve qu'il est mal conseillé, il choisit beaucoup de chansons nulles, je retiens que Mylène Farmer (et là ça 'e vaut en visuel et sonore), il m'a revisité des succès autres géniaux, mais voilà je me désabonne car je trouve qu'il teste des musiques "ringardes" !
Dommage il est charmant mais aucun intérêt, bientôt il va analyser du Claude François (mouaiiiiiii je pars avant merci et bonne chance)

Great ! For a funny explaination, Stephan Eicher is a german speaker mother tongue from german's part in Swisserland and didn't know a word in french before to sing this song, he had learned all this song by heart and by phonetic

Thanks for your awesome reaction. This track (my fav by Stephan) is terrific with it so powerful and catchy rhytm. Love the strings, drum set and the guitar: a bliss. Deep lyrics that are unfortunately still current about human stupidity ( war, hate, racism, selfishness, ....).

This song "Déjeuner En Paix" (Lunch In Peace) is taken from his album Engelberg, ranked no.2 for 5 weeks in TOP 50 and sold at 240'000 copies. In the end, it would have passed at 800'000 copies.
It's one of the greatest songs in his repertoire but also a radio song whose music video is often broadcast on TV. The success of the song owes a lot to the topicality of a moment: in the middle of the Gulf War!

He composed the song, mixed the track, played all the instruments including drum and guitars, sang lead and back up vocals. To me this song does not breathe peace at all. I thought he was so boring that she needed peace for lunch but that makes sense if the background at that moment was the gulf war she was just longing for peace. Anyway I love men with long hair even weird ones. I like the contrast between that so-called “peace” and the rhythm of the music when he sings “déjeuner en paix”.

She asks me suddenly, the music here poses a kind of suspense, a point of suspension as if to stop time with this totally unexpected and of course unsettling question for the character of the song so early in the morning: "Will you make me a baby for Christmas?" (it's the Christmas present she's finally waiting for) which is why she laughs, because obviously she teases him.

It's the kind of song about a "piece of life", the scenery is a morning breakfast with "his girlfriend", and how she rejects him asking him "if she can, have a breakfast peacefully". It's all in the "setup" (beside the music of course).
@dereckreacts @garryiglesias Pardon me my friend but the meaning of the song is not at all about a woman rejecting her boyfriend. It's all about how dark the world can be and how, despite all this darkness, this woman chooses not to read the news and all the sensiationalism to enjoy one moment of peace. Stephan speaks about it and how it was written during the Gulf war. He talks about that touch of nihilism that makes us say "the world is so ugly, let's have a nice breakfast since it won't change a thing but would bring us a slice of happiness".
