Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another recommendation made possible by all of you with "Avec le temps," from Léo Ferré. It's a deep heartfelt song about moving on from a breakup. But it carries this sadness all the way through with his voice, instrumentation, and over ambiance. One of my toughest reacts yet, see it now!

    With time
    Leo Ferré
    With time
    With time, goes, everything goes
We forget the face and we forget the voice
The heart, when its beating more, it's not worth going
Look further, you have to let it go and that's fine
    With time
    With time, goes, everything goes
The other we adored, that we were looking for in the rain
The other that we guessed at the bend of a glance
Between the words, between the lines and under the make-up
Of a made-up oath that is going to make its night
    With time everything fades away
    With time
    With time, goes, everything goes
Even the nicest memories, that, you have one of those faces
At the gallery, I rummage in the rays of death
Saturday night when tenderness goes by itself
    With time
    With time, goes, everything goes
The other who we believed for a cold, for nothing
The other to whom we gave wind and jewelry
For whom one would have sold his soul for a few pennies
Before what, we trained like dogs drag
With time, go, everything is fine
    With time
    With time, goes, everything goes
We forget the passions and we forget the voices
Who whispered to you the words of the poor people
Don't come home too late, above all don't catch a cold
    With time
    With time, goes, everything goes
And we feel whitewashed like a tired horse
And we feel frozen in a bed of chance
And we feel all alone maybe but easy
And you feel cheated by the wasted years, so really
Over time we no longer like

WOW WOW, you dit it? Thanks a million dear Dereck. Perhaps my favourite song ever. Love Leo''s ton of voice and the sad melody of this desesperate track. The orchestration is awesome (there's another huge song that I like crazily with the same orchestral and melodic atmosphère called " Ton style" ( = Your style). Léo was a prolific and inspirated artist, check out "C'est extra", "La solitude", "Jolie môme", "Tu ne dis jamais rien", "Le temps du tango", "La vie d'artiste", "La mémoire et la mer", "La the nana"' and hundred more....

Basically, this song is one of my favorite songs in the entire world. Really.

Léo est un ange de pureté . Révolté et poésie : le sens de la vie même ( la tristesse ou plutôt le tragique fait partie de la vie ). Que de l'amour pour toi que je rencontre , ici, par hasard .♥

*As time passes* (English translation - Adaptation, Equirhythmic, Rhyming)
As time passes, as time passes, all disappears.
The face begins to fade, and we forget the voice.
The heart, when it lets go, there is no need to look any further,
Just to let come, and that's fine thus.

    As time passes, as time passes, all disappears;
The other we adored, we looked for in the rain,
The one we guessed with a straightforward glance,
Under the words, between the lines,
Under the make-up of a disguised oath, going to end its night.
    As time passes, everything flies.

As time passes, as time passes, all disappears.
Even the best memories have such a holy face
To rummage at the Gallery, on the shelves of the death,
Saturday night, when on its own goes tenderness.

As time passes, as time passes, all disappears,
The other, whom we trust for a cold, for nothing.
The one to who we gave some wind and jewelry.
For whom we could have sold our soul for a few coins.
In front of whom we dragged like dogs circling around.
As time passes, it concludes fine.

As time passes, as time passes, all disappears.
We forget our passions. We forget the voices
Whispering to us the words of the poor people:
"And don't come home too late; mainly, don't catch a cold."

As time passes, as time passes, all disappears.
And we finish bleached like an old worn-out horse.
And we finish frozen in a bed of chance.
And we finish alone, got rid of the problems.
Ourselves, we feel cheated by all these long-lost years.
So actually, the time passing makes us loveless.
So much poetry in these words, isn't it? 😊

Wow quite impress that you have this song, not a particularly fun one. Very touching to see the impact it has on a non french speaker, the emotions goes over any
language I guess. A few years back I was not a real fan of Ferré. Then I bought a cd (2 discs) of his best songs and gradually I got found of him. All lot of his work
is poems brought to life with music. Don’t worry all his songs are not this depressing. Belgium had Brel, France had Ferré !🙂

We forget the face and we forget the voice

Between the words, between the lines and under the make-up

    With time everything fades away
    With time
    With time, goes, everything goes
Even the nicest memories, that, you have one of those faces
At the gallery, I rummage in the rays of death
Saturday night when tenderness goes by itself
    With time
    With time, goes, everything goes
The other who we believed for a cold, for nothing

And we feel whitewashed like a tired horse

After this reaction I had to re-watch Dalida and Céline Dion's cover. They both do an excellent job. The way they shot Céline's version is very similar to Dalida's live performance. The focus is on the face and it makes it very captivating. Céline's version is very emotional cause she was singing it to pay hommage to her husband's work in the music industry after he died.
