Lake in Dutch is "Meer", but in German it's "See"
Sea in Dutch is "Zee", while in German it's "Meer"
'Lacke' is German for puddle, which would've made the last reaction even better if Germany just did drop a little amount of water on the ground.
(Also google tries to tell me it's supposed to be written *'Lache'* but either I've never learned that word in written German and only in my local slang or google is lying to me ...)

I'm french Canadian and the only people that I've heard telling other people to speak their language are Québecois. The only english speakers I could think of doing that would be Albertans, but I lived there and they don't.
