    A whole new sound design landscape opened up for me with this video. It is the first video I discovered from your channel. Thank you for this. Subbed. Keep it up man. Thank you and much love from belgium. Cheers

    Great tutorial! The comb filter was an unexpected and awesome addition to this synth. The flexibility of osc 2 with additional filters or just mixing two oscillators is, by far, the biggest selling point of this synth to me as far as sound design goes. I also love using audio in to process other equipment - you can run any external synth through a comb filter after wavefolding and noise addition, plus the great fx on the end of the chain... The analog filters sound especially great in BP with a bit of resonance too. Would love to see more content from you on the mini!

    Ive just recently started my synth-journey with buying the Behringer Pro-800 and while i do love it in conjunction with my MPC One for effects, i have been looking at this synthesizer for my second one - it for sure looks like you can get completely lost for days making patches in this

    Damn, this is the best advert for these I've ever seen. I really want one now!

    You could use the cycling envelope in envelope mode to control the volume of osc1 so it is only a very short burst going into the comb filter. This will reduce the buzzing.

      @YukiTheSynthDragon  Před 4 měsíci

      That’s a good idea, I forgot that oscillators have a volume level over the micro freak.

      @@YukiTheSynthDragon I would also send velocity in a negative amount to damping, so it is brighter when you play harder.

    I love the arp on the minifreak so much thet honestly i use it for arps more than anything else haha

    Pretty cool vid and walkthrough. As you also own a hydrasynth, would you consider the minifreak a companion to it? Or do you feel there is a strong overlap between the two in terms of sound? Obviously, it’s a matter of personal taste, but I’m curious to get your take on it. Thanks!

    Excellent patch and video as always. Just curious have you tried using the karplus engine for this? It does a pretty good job at plucky string sounds

    • @YukiTheSynthDragon
      @YukiTheSynthDragon  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes it’s excellent. It’s one of the reason I got it. The comb filter gets more like koto and dulcimer while the karplus is like a guitar and cello / violin.

      @@YukiTheSynthDragon maybe I'm thinking of modal? Can't recall off the top of my head but I know I got great pluck sounds from one of the engines haha, it's been a min since used it. Either way, amazing patch, you killed it

    Thank you so much for this, Yuki. I am very new to synthesis (mostly have been tweaking presets from software instruments to this point) and the Minifreak is my first hardware synth. I have what is no doubt a very silly question: how did you make the arp keep playing even when you lifted your fingers off of the keys?
    I noticed the Hold/Rest light on, but couldn't seem to make that provide the desired result. I tried googling several iterations of this question as best I could, but couldn't find a good answer. I would very much appreciate your help. Thanks.

      All you need to do is turn on the arp mode, press the hold button to turn that on in arp mode, the play a chord and it will keep playing.

      @@YukiTheSynthDragon Thanks a lot for your prompt response, Yuki! The patch sounds fantastic by the way and I learned a lot from watching your video.

      The 'hold button': better if you go buy a cheap sustain pedal (works on the same principal as one of the pedals on a piano. With the hold button alone, everything you play will sustain, but an actual pedal will allow you to 'lift your foot' momentarily if you change chords/ key etc. This will cut off the sustaining notes, and allow the new chord to sound cleaner.
      * it's amazing how such a simple thing is very hard to describe!!

    Very informative, although I feel my attempt is lacking sonically. I used the plugin, maybe that is the difference. Although I heard there is none.

      It could be the analog filter vs the emulated one in the software. I haven’t tried this patch on the software version yet. It should sound very close of not the same though. But this patch does make reliance on both the comb filter and the low pass filter.
