I used to go to church with Phil here in West Monroe! I can tell you guys that he is as real off screen as he is on screen! He’s a man who goes hard after God! He’s very wise! I have a great respect for him and the Robertson family.

I used to say the prayer for our highschool football team before games, like phil was talking about. It was really important to us and it really brought us together I believe. Proud to have been part of one of the last schools to do that.

Christ was crucified because people found him offensive. Christians upheld the truth and were martyred for their faith. I used to say the prayer for our highschool football team before games, like phil was talking about. It was really important to us and it really brought us together I believe. Proud to have been part of one of the last schools to do that.

Yes, sin was prevalent (and still is), which is why Christ came to save us. You missed the point of Christianity in thinking the sole mission would have been to appeal to the masses and grow. The faith is built on Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. The validity of the truth is not dependent on how many people agree with it. Gaining followers with the use of attractive lies would be both “illogical” and pointless if only the truth can save.
Christ was crucified because people found him offensive. Christians upheld the truth and were martyred for their faith. Clearly, the way of Christ wasn’t exactly popular at the time and many people violently rejected it. Christ even said his followers would be persecuted. Self-denial and guaranteed persecution were not expected to have mass appeal, and there was no worldly benefit for being a Christian.
Furthermore, the earliest Christians would have known if the resurrection of Christ was true as they would have been witnesses and had firsthand knowledge. “Logic” tells us people aren’t willing to suffer and die for a lie they created.
As for your other statement, the Bible is clear in defining homosexual behavior as sinful. When the following passages were written, the people of the time understood exactly what was meant. These passages left no room for other interpretations or translations. The Word of God doesn’t change merely to appease popular opinion.

“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, they have committed an abomination.”
Romans 1:18-32
Romans details the punishment for idolators and those who “suppress the truth by their wickedness.” “Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies.....their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity.”

If your point was that the translations are in error, you probably should not have attempted to back up your claims with an article that, despite many inaccuracies, at least upheld the accuracy of the wording. The best it could do was take scripture out of context. Whether or not you believe in the validity of the Bible is another matter, but you’d be hard-pressed to back up the claim that it doesn’t say what it says.
The clarity with these particular passages is consistent among multiple translations of the Bible. However, my quotes were actually taken from the New American Bible Revised Edition. In addition, these Biblical beliefs regarding homosexuality were upheld long before the existence of the King James Version (which emerged in the 1600s) or any English translation of the Bible. Once again, history as well as oral tradition from both Jews and the Church confirm that what is stated in scripture is consistent with the actual beliefs.
I’d also like to remind you that Jews have the Tanakh, so you won’t find them using a KJV or any Christian Bible. However, Leviticus is a book acknowledged by both Jews and Christians. In synagogues, Jews still read scripture in its original Hebrew, and the meaning is further enriched with generations of history and understanding. They come to the same conclusion that homosexual behavior is and was a sin. Do you want to tell Jews that their original texts written in Hebrew have been read incorrectly for thousands of years, too?
Jewish law even permitted capital punishment for men caught in a sexual act. It was not necessarily common for capital punishments to be carried out, but the threat of execution made clear these behaviors were not accepted in Jewish culture. Some Jews and Christians have been deluding themselves with “loopholes” and novel interpretations of scripture to justify sin. Try as they may, they cannot rewrite history and the Word of God stands.

I was referring to his courage to go on public television (a place that is now occupied by mostly people who would denounce such love for the Creator) and say the things he does. Although it is a commanded trait by God to be bold, I still find his ability to say the things he does inspiring.

He was on a show called duck dynasty. I stopped watching when they cut him out of the show. People made a huge stink and the network asked him to come back and he said no. The show ended shortly after that if I remember correctly but like I said I stopped watching.
