- For those that don't understand why I regularly drive a six hour round trip on an evening to see 90 minutes of football this may help. The atmosphere was incredible tonight. What an amazing match. Challenging for the quarter final place of the Champions League, Ryan Giggs making his 1,000th appearance for the club and Cristiano Ronaldo returning to his former home. What a reception for them both. What an amazing atmosphere. What an amazing game. Sadly spoilt by a crap referee, but it was a joy to be there till the teams walked off the park.
It's not on the video, but the roar Ronaldo got for the second time as he patted his heart and applauded the fans in the Stretford End as he went to the tunnel at the end of the game was immense! It would be great to see him back.

If i were cr7 ...i would be crying in that moment...what a beautiful welcoming! For all that he did at manutd...we all the red devils always show our grattitude tu him!

this was so special. i would be bawling my eyes out if i were ronaldo. you could tell he was very emotional from how tight his mouth looked when he got that reception.

I've been to both Camp Nou and Old Trafford actually. All players get cheered by their own set of fans, but this video shows the biggest cheer of the night reserved for an opponent player. I've never seen anything like it.

RatRace675 I completely agree with you on referee performance: Ramos' own goal was preceded by Van Persie offside.That goal mustn't have got on the scoreboard.The red card shown to Nani was excessive (yellow card would have been good enough).The ref didn't call for a penalty by Rafael either.

Not a utd supporter but it's a great atmosphere, and why cos there's thousands of supporters are standing, give the premiership safe standing Rail seats or allocate a lower tier standing for supporters to stand.
We don't forget our greats. Our club appreciate our players and especially players like Ronaldo who made an huge impact while he was at the club and how he has expressed his love and respect for the whole club ever since he left doesn't make his status any lesser. ManUtd's got soul!
