The context of this match is what makes it such an incredible story to have witnessed. Athletico Madrid under Simeone being one of the most defensive sides in the world. Really difficult to score against. Juventus bringing in Ronaldo specifically aiming big in the UCL. Yet Juve's goal difference not getting any better. Even in SerieA they were winning like 1-0, 2-1 kind of scores. So when Juve got behind for 2 goals to Athletico Madrid, it was really difficult to believe that Juve would comeback scoring three goals back. And that was why the ATM fans were also so confident about.
And the fact that that very moment Ronaldo had the self belief to challenge the opposition fans, was something unbelievable. And to do exactly what he said. That's GOAT material out there. Not just the three goals, the number of crosses he gave in that match.

What Ronaldo is lacking now is the ability to comprehend that his game has got to change if he still wants to play in Europe. He can’t just expect to sprint like he did in his 20’s and early 30’s, he can’t expect teammates to give him threw balls every time when he can’t reach them at this point in his career, he can’t expect everyone to play off of him when he isn’t that man anymore. Zlatan is 39 and he plays exactly the same position as Ronaldo but with more effectiveness! He guards the ball waiting for the team to go up, he plays with his back to the goal, which at his age he just needs strength and endurance to play that style effectively! Ronaldo what’s to sprint every single time and defenders nowadays laugh at that because he can’t just sprint threw them like he used to, he demands crosses from his teammates even though he can’t jump like he used to.

Damn... I'm a 3rd generation juventus fan from Italy, over the years we have seen incredible players - Del Piero, Trezeguet, Zlatan, Pirlo, Zidane, Tevez, Cannavaro, Buffon, Inzaghi, Nedved, Platini, Baggio, etc... - not gonna rank them in terms of how good they were, wouldn't be fair.
I have to say however, I had never seen a player that showed so much dominance in games like Ronaldo did. If he was in a good day he was capable to completely crush defenses on his own. I will sorely miss him, but that's life. Players come and go, teams stay forever. But thank you Cristiano, my only regret is that you didn't come earlier.
