“I’ll tell you once more, before I get off the floor- don’t bring me down”. ❤️
Man....... you're always talkin about your crazy nights
I’m surprised I had to scroll this far down to find this.
@@thewiseoldherper7047 lol, it's the first comment I saw....
@@KayeWhye same here lol
@@KayeWhye interesting. They both directly asked the question about those lyrics and so of course I’m like “I’ll reply” but then I saw there were 600 replies. So I knew out of those 600 replies somebody had to of already answered that question. I scrolled past at least 10 responses before I saw it.
1979. Lyrics about a girl who thinks she's too good for the guy she's with. Wondering why Jeff Lynne repeatedly sings the word "groose" after the song's title line? Apparently it was a made-up place-keeper word to fill a gap in the vocals when he was improvising the lyrics. When the German engineer Reinhold Mack, who also worked with QUEEN, heard the ELO front man's demo he asked Lynne how he knew "Gruss" means "greetings" in his country's language. Upon learning the German meaning, Lynne decided to leave it in. Many fans misinterpreted "groose" as "Bruce." In fact, so many people misheard the lyric that Lynne actually began to sing the word as "Bruce" for fun at live shows.
Thanks for that. I've been wondering who Bruce was for years!
Yep! I always wondered who Bruce was.😆
I always tell people "Bruce was the DJ."
@@genodalbec1163 🤣
Me too for 50+ years I thought it was Bruce. Funny
Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. Wrote and produced everything the band did. He's still touring.
A rock god.
Traveling Wilburys … You need to hear them and will recognize the members of the band !!!
@spells1389 Wrong! All Jeff Lynne.
@spells1389 Nah.
A solid “next ELO song” would be “Telephone Line”. -One of the all-time greatest post breakup songs ever. Love you both, love your channel!
Agreed , so much better than Mr Blue Sky
Yes!
The "Jeff Lynn's ELO live at Wembley stadium" version is the one that made me realise Telephone Line is better than Mr Blue Sky. (The lead singer and main songwriter of ELO is Jeff Lynn.)
Telephone Line might be my favorite ELO song.
That's my favorite ELO song
LOVE THIS ONE! Electric Light Orchestra are legendary, as is their lead singer, Jeff Lynne. Your next ELO song HAS to be "Mr. Blue Sky" (which, if you've seen the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie, you WILL recognize). Other fantastic songs of theirs are "Evil Woman", "Turn to Stone", and "Strange Magic". The 70s wouldn't have been the 70s without ELO! (Four decades later, I still don't know who Bruce is...) FYI - the line you're asking about is "I'll tell you once more, before I get off the floor, don't bring me down."
Don't forget Sweet Talking Woman, Telephone Line and Livin' Thing! Strange Magic has always been my ELO favorite.
@@ajruther67 Oh, and also "Rock and Roll is King",
@@Shrykespeare There is always a song someone forgets. Thanks for adding it.
Listen to Concerto of a Rainy Day. What many people don't know is Mr. Blue Sky is the last movement of that piece.
Bruce was either a manager or producer that they directed this song towards.
MR BLUE SKY is my favourite, you won’t be disappointed .
Forgot about ‘Mr. Blue Sky.’ Another psychedelic pop explosion of greatness.
"Please turn me over."
“Hold on Tight to Your Dreams” is another goodie.
I always considered ELO one of my top groups of all time....They are so ignored from a legendary status but so deserve to be recognized....They did so much in such a long span and were so creative and talented.
Big hit in 1979 Love me some 70s Baby
Three little words: Mr. Blue Sky. That's the track you're looking for
It's a must, and we're at that time of year again, waiting for Mr Blue Sky to burst through in all his glory!
I highly recommend “Livin’ Thing”. It has the great orchestration that Amber loves, the catchy beat that ELO is known for and Jeff Lynne’s vocals are fantastic as always!
Jeff is also one of the stars in the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys and they have some awesome songs as well. 🙂
The video of the Live at Wembley performance, featuring Rosie Langley is just awesome!
Telephone Line is another one that they'd like also
Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty. The very definition of a supergroup. "End of the Line" and "Handle With Care" were their most notable hits, recorded shortly before Roy passed away in 1988.
@@kjmorley Yes, that’s the one to watch!
The violin intro would blow their minds!
Jeff Lynne is an unsung genius. Besides "being" ELO, he produced George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Dave Edmunds, Roy Orbison, &c, was a member of the Traveling Wilburys, and was instrumental to pulling off The Beatles Anthology.
Please never forget he was in the move , no move no elo .
he was a total music mixing savant. total recluse tho.
I saw Jeff Lynne and ELO two years ago live. They are unbelievable, still to this day. Jeff Lynne is unbeatable x😎.... Thank you ♥️
'Strange Magic" Telephone Line", "Turn to Stone". My favorites from E.L.O.
Have you heard the accustic version of Telephone Line? Not sure if it was an MTVUnplugged or not. Its even better than the original.
"Don't Bring Me Down" peaked at #4 in '79. ELO also had top 10 hits with "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" "Evil Woman" "Telephone Line" "Shine A Little Love" ELO with Olivia Newton-John "Xanadu" and "Hold On Tight." I especially recommend "Telephone Line" and "Shine A Little Love."
I'm guessing you're from the US. It made number 3 here in their home country 🇬🇧
@@paulmargett9360 Yes, I live in the U.S. so the info I gave is based off of U.S. Billboard charts.
@@jeffvanderpool4039 its first week on the Billboard charts was at #17. That's how high it came in.
@@chrisoakley5830 Not in the U.S. I Have a book of all the Billboard Top 10 charts from it's inception August 4, 1958 through July 9, 1988. It debuted at 41 on the charts the week ending August 4, 1979. The following week it climbed to 18. It's 3rd week it climbed from 18 to 14. 4th week from 14 to 6. 5th week from 6 to 5. 6th week from 5 to 4. 7th week it stayed at 4. 8th week it dropped to 10 and 9th week it stayed at 10.
@@jeffvanderpool4039 the second week at 18 is what I was thinking about. In those days there was another radio countdown show called The Weekly Top Thirty. It's host was Mark Elliott. Because they only did 30 songs it did show up at 17 it's first week.
"I'll tell you once more before I get off the floor don't bring me down."
ELO's got sooo many great songs... try 'Mr. Blue Sky'... it's probably the happiest song in the world, you'll see.
Have you seen the flash mob video of Mr. Blue Sky? Awesome
The guitarist and singer is Jeff Lynne. He also produced Tom Petty’s “Full Moon Fever” album, Roy Orbison’s “You Got It”, and the Traveling Wilburys albums.
Never made a bad record. Just a hugely entertaining band live with perfect renditions of their songs. So much fun
To this day their live concerts are a must see
Ding! I still have several ELO albums (you heard me right...ALBUMS)
Agree! I saw them live in Toronto, mid 70's and it was incredible! Also an amazing laser show.
2 years ago I took my 65 year old mother and 16 year old daughter to see Jeff Lynne's ELO, both loved it because ELO is an amazing band

Joyful experience. And everyone sings along with a huge smile on their face as as well
ELO Hit Songs: Telephone Line, Livin' Thing, Turn to Stone, Sweet Talkin' Woman, Evil Woman and my personal favorite Strange Magic
The best!!!!
A friend of mine uses their "Evil Woman" as the ringtone when his ex-wife calls. We are still laugh our heads off.
"Fire on High". No words. Just pure instrumental talent.
Sweet Talkin' Woman, Strange Magic, Telephone Line, Livin Thing, it's a deep rabbit hole this one.
One of ELO's hits is Mr. Blue Sky and it instantly puts me in a good mood.
Mr. Blue Sky" is a song by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), featured on the band's seventh studio album Out of the Blue (1977). Written and produced by frontman Jeff Lynne, the song forms the fourth and final track of the "Concerto for a Rainy Day" suite, on side three of the original double album. "Mr. Blue Sky" was the second single to be taken from Out of the Blue, peaking at number 6 in the UK Singles Chart[2] and number 35 in the US Billboard Charts.[3]
Maybe a hit in the UK but not in the States. I’m a big fan of ELO, I graduated HS in 77 and I don’t recall hearing this song over the radio.
@@ozziequinones584 I'm kind of shocked to see it wasn't as big of a hit in the US as it was in the UK. That being said, I almost feel like it was a 'post-release hit' of sorts as it's presently the #1 downloaded song by ELO on Spotify.
“ Telephone Line” is a must hear by ELO!
One of ELO’s BEST! My favorite, the animated video to Mr Blue Sky. Feeling down? Watch it an expect to be delighted ❤️😁
Discovery, the album this is from, was a huge hit in 1979. You need to hear “Mr. Blue Sky” (considered the happiest song ever). Also “Sweet Talkin’ Woman”,”Turn To Stone”, and “Strange Magic.” This group has a massive rabbit hole. More please!
I love ELO but I really like Strange Magic.
And don't forget Telephone Line !!
“Mister Blue Sky” and “Living Thing” are two of my favorites by ELO. When you do movie reactions, Xanadu with Olivia Newton John has a lot of songs by ELO.
Definitely all ELO is great but Xanadu is especially nostalgic for me because I had such a huge crush on Olivia Newton John
I loved Xanadu. Bonus Andy Gibb. A baby Gibb brother.
I would love to see their reaction to Fire on High haha.
Yes, Mister Blue Sky, definitely.
Xanadu is a great movie! The storyline is timeless!
This song is huge with young girls and guys who dance the Shuffle. I applaud them for keeping it current.
Went to a concert of theirs and you wouldn’t believe the laser light show that’s coordinated to the music. Absolutely incredible!
Me too !!
funny thing....whenever this Band is mentioned...I think about "mr. Blue Sky".....
Love that song too!
Strange Magic
Telephone Line
Just about anything they do is Magic
Strange Magic definitely! That was the first song that introduced me to ELO and is still my favorite of theirs to this day. Also would like to suggest Showdown.
Forgot about ‘Strange Magic!’ Incredible.
“Strange Magic” is my absolute favorite ELO song!!!! ♥️
E.L.O. is F.U.N. -- you nailed it right from the top. This was an essential party song in the 1980s. This song always brings a smile to my face; I'm glad you guys enjoyed it as well.
FROM the late 70s baby. A 70s party song before the 80s started.
Loved this back in the day- could dance to their music all night.
By the way, very cool reaction of yours.
My fave ELO song! ♥ Check out their songs: Hold On Tight, Sweet Talkin' Woman & Evil Woman
One of the best concerts I got to see. Evil Woman and Livin Thing is a must listen!!!
I think the "Orchestra" in the band's name is more metaphorical - all of Lynne's arrangements are lush full wall-of-sound productions, whether via synthesizers or strings or both. That's the iconic ELO sound.
2 cellos and a violin prove otherwise!
All of their songs were on the radio. All the time!!..and it's I'll tell you once more, before I get off the floor, don't bring me down..
This song was an absolute necessity at the skating rink in my hometown when I was growing up, I learned how to skate to this song, needless to say I fell down an awful lot while I was learning but it was so much fun and it brings back so many wonderful memories from my childhood!!!!!!
John your showing your age. About the same as mine. haha
@@Herbert04 age is just a number brother, I hurt my pride and my skinny butt but man I had the absolute best skating teacher MY BIG BROTHERS GIRLFRIEND WHO HE MADE HIS WIFE 3 YEARS LATER!!!!!

LOL. I just left comment that this sing reminds me of rollerskating. HaHaHa. Good times...
Right before Back in Black
You HAVE to listen to "Mr Blue Sky". In a survey it was ranked the happiest song EVER. Also for some cool early 90's "She Drives Me Crazy" by The Fine Young Cannibals and "Buffalo Stance" by Neneh Cherry :)
Love " Buffalo Stance "
@@deniseriley6622 The whole Raw Like Sushi album is brilliant that Buffalo Stance came from.
Both of those songs are from 1989 ☺
@@stephenulmer3781 I know, but I didn't hear them until 1990. The place I was stationed overseas at the time was a little behind LOL
@@sunsungoaway No worries. 😀
In 1979 my daughter was 4 and I played this album so many times and so loud to this day when she hears this song she stops and sings... dont bring me down....BRUCE! and dont forget Mr. Blue SkY! all on the same album... Out of the blue! Out of this world...
Just found you guys today. You have an awesome range of music reactions and I love your facial expressions and comments. Keep it coming!!
Guys .... Two of my favorites ELO songs .. Evil Woman and Mr Blue Sky - got to try these next ! ❤🎵
Amber’s reaction to “can I pull off the handlebar?” Hilarious 😆
It made me laugh out loud.
Busted out laughing. Helpful hint for new parents, Don't change your hairstyle for a couple of years. I shaved my beard when my first born was 8 months or so, he couldn't deal with dad's voice coming out of a stranger for a few days.
I was lucky enough to see them live 1978 in Melbourne, Australia and it was absolutely fabulous LOL. An amazing band.
"Telephone Line" is one of my all time favorite songs! You should totally hear that one next!!!
Next song for ELO definitely has to be Mr. Blue Sky. You'll love it.
ELO "Turn To Stone" is a must listen to!
Love young people finding our old music. Glad you liked it so much! :) Great channel!
ELO does have an orchestral sound in many of their songs, with violins, cells, and bass. That was their calling card. But, they did some hard rock, some pop, some disco, and some techno - just to show they could do it.
My favorite of theirs is "Strange Magic" but they have a ton of great songs.
Have a great day.
"Last Train To London " is another good song by ELO that I enjoy listening to time to time.
I have seen this song alot, making multiple generations bond.ther shuffle to this now.so cool
I'll tell you once more, before I get on the floor
I always loved ELO and this was one of my favorites.
I saw Jeff Lynne’s ELO a couple of years ago in London. He doesn’t look any different from how he did in the seventies.
"Strange Magic", "Livin' Thing", and "Evil Woman" are the other major hits from this era of ELO. Other good picks are "Hold On Tight" and "Rock and Roll is King".
Love Living Thing
Telephone Line is good as well
I've been with so many people over the years that have heard Strange Magic for the first time, and are like, "Who is this? Is this new? I like this."
They have so many great songs.
Best roller skating songs …
“I’ll tell you once more before I get off the floor” is the lyric you were missing. Jeff does NOT have a handlebar mustache. Google mustaches in your down time, if you even have any down time! There were complaints at the company when the orchestra sounds were drowned out by the guitars, but they worked it out. Most of the songs we got on the radio were very much strings and horns. Sweet Talkin’ Woman, Mr. Blue Sky, Evil Woman, Strange Magic, Turn to Stone, Telephone Line, you have a lot of classics to choose from.
The bass player with the handlebar moustache was the late Kelly Grouchett, who also provided mostly backing vocals but also on the odd track was the lead vocal.
"Twilight" is one of my all-time faves of ELO's.
Amber, your reaction to the handlebar mustache question made me laugh out loud.🤣
Oh yeah you guys definitely need to check out more ELO!!! I think you’ll really like Mr Blue Sky
There's some excellent live versions of Mr. Blue Sky
Omg you need to tap into more ELO...they are amazing. Strange Magic and Livin' Thing are my favorite. If you like the orchestra - then Livin Thing you will love!!!
"I'll tell you once more, before I get on the floor." I believe is the lyric. Mr. Blue Sky is another good Pop Rock song from them. "Rock & Roll is King" is also good.
"MR Blue Sky" is the most essential ELO track to listen to. They have many excellent tracks, but MR Blue Sky is their masterpiece, like reacting to Queen and never doing Bohemian Rhapsody.
I love MR Blue sky. So FUN! to listen to.
You should check out their more recent, live performances, “ELO LIVE at Wembley”. Telephone Line, Turn to Stone, Evil Woman, or Living Thing, which has an awesome violin performance by Rosie Langley.
Has to be "Mr Blue Sky" next! ELO always make you smile. Hyper happy music!
All over the world is a song you have to watch. It's 🔥🔥🔥. Lots of dancing. Unity
I love this song. Glad you are listening to it.
Another band I think you may like is Dr. Hook - Sharing the night together or Sylvia's mother.
This was a "perfect" album, not a single track you'd want to skip. - love it!
I saw E.L.O live back in the end of the 70's I was about 12 years old and went with my older sister. :)
The first song I heard of from E.L.O. was “Rockaria.” It gives the vibes of ‘Rock Opera’ with lots of orchestra thrown in.
You will love it!
This song was a very radio friendly song by them , it was huge at the roller rink back 1979-80 when it came out. It was great skating around the rink to this at top speed.
May 1979 ,,,, 7 months Before the 80s were in Diapers
Y'all gotta do a reaction to ELO's Mr Blue Sky (make sure it's the full version so you can hear the epic melodic chord progressions at the end!) Would be a perfect tune to have your girls with you too.
Jay and Amber,
There are already some great suggestions by your fans on more songs from ELO!! But for some really INCREDIBLE DEEP CUTS that did not get played on the radio back in the day that have more of the Orchestra feel that you love, I would strongly recommend "Steppin' Out", "Thunder and Lightning", "Sweet is the Night" and one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES OF ALL TIME....."BIG WHEELS". You will not regret it..and please reach out to me when you do!
So many wonderful songs by this band... Love them... One of my favorites.
My favorite song by ELO is it's turn to stone. Since it 1st came out in either the late seventies or early eighties I don't remember which. It's off their first album Out of the Blue.
This song was definitely played on the radio in the 70's♥️
A LOT IN 1979
Another great one of theirs is the Chuck Berry song “Roll Over Beethoven” in which they actually put in elements of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.
Have you seen the 1976 live version? It’s crazy, manic and wonderful!
Absolutely love ELO. Lots of great ones listed here, I just want to add "Do Ya" and "Strange Magic" to the list of must listen songs.
ELO has plenty more Orchestra to come.. keep rolling with their hits.. this band kicks ass
This was the JAM at our roll arena, where we'd roller skate, and you would tap your skates to the beat! Yep, 70's babies have all the best music from the past to our own generation!!
I'm there with you.
Who can forget skating to so many rock hits during the 70's? Who can forget the movie Roll Bounce? Great skating and great music.
This is from their 1979 album “ Discovery” or “Disco Very”, as all the album has a disco feel. You should listen to all of it.
ELO are at heart a rock band that just utilise classical instruments too, they were initially inspired by tracks on The Beatles ' Sgt.Pepper...' and 'Magical Mystery Tour' albums. The Electric Light Orchestra name is a play on words.' Light Orchestras' began in the 18th Century, and were like the pop music of their day, they played shorter and lighter pieces that had wider appeal to the general public than deeper and more 'serious' classical music did. Not something you had to really study to enjoy it. Serious classical music lovers and academics no doubt turned their noses up at this development. After World War 2 in the UK the BBC had a radio channel called 'The BBC Light Programme', which broadcast right up until the 1960's, the members of ELO would have grown up with their parents listening to this channel, it featured mainly popular styles of music (pre. rock'n'roll era ) , showband music, dramas, kids and comedy shows. When Jeff Lynne (the lead singer with the fro) , and other founder member Roy Wood, made the first ELO single, it made sense as the pop band had electric guitars to make it an 'electric' Light Orchestra, with the additional pun of 'electric light' in the middle.
If it's more orchestra, then definitely play ELO's; 1) "Last Train to London" the Official Video, 2) "All Over the World", 3) "Sweet Talkin' Woman", 4) "Turn to Stone". "Mr. Blue Sky". ELO was known for their strings! And the orchestral sound shined best in the first 3 of their hits!
All Over The World has a great video!
Great recommendations.
All Over the World is an awesome song! Very underrated.
With all the hits ELO had, nearly everything. Took forever to get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
I went to two ELO concerts at the Tucson Community Center. They are the only rock band that didn't play in the arena that would seat 30,000, they played in the Music Hall that seated under 1000, where the orchestra's would play. The acoustics are perfect and there isn't a bad seat in the house. AMAZING concerts.
Yay, ELO! Hope you get deep into them. You have to listen to their hits for sure. Mr. Blue Sky, Livin' Thing, Sweet Talkin' Woman and several others!
Love this band. Diary of Horace Wimp is a great one of theirs.
I think you guys would love Diary of Horace Wimp
Absolutely
I like ELO's Hold On Tight to Your Dreams. :)
I love ELO, reminds me of the times when my husband (at the time) and I & went on our holidays with our 3 children in the car, he used to wack the volume up and we were all bopping about in the car, this was in the late 70's. When I'm out driving my car to the beach now I still love to play ELO with the volume up & I'm 63 now Lol.!!!
These are the song I would hear on my granny's radio in her car
Awesome song! Love ELO❤ Mr. Blues Sky next time!
Jeff Lynne is a genius! They did a concert at Wembley Stadium in 2017 and you should react to something live from that concert. It is so good! I recommend Telephone Line, Turn to Stone, or Mr. Blue Sky. You will not be disappointed.
Always has been my fave ELO song. Jeff made up a placeholder word “groose” and kept it in, but everybody thought he was saying “Bruce”, like telling a guy named Bruce not to bring him down.
We still sing Bruce 😂
the call back was supposedly a reference to a business manager named Bruce who was stealing from the band.
I LOVE ELO. Lots and lots and lots of great songs (that other folks have already suggested)
ANOTHER GREAT REACTION! You can literally react to almost any ELO song...and you'll love it! Keep up the great videos!
Hold on tight is another rocking song
Jeez guys, I’ve only discovered you a few days ago, you’ve already blown my bloody mind. My first was with “ Monsters “ now we get my favourite songs with ELO. I’m in my element here, and I’ve checked out lots more stuff you’ve watched, omg there’s so much more, yay, love you guys x
All over the world is a wonderful ELO song
LOVE IT!!! My first concert in 1977! I was 12 years old!!!
Jeff Lynn was also in the Traveling Wilbury's with Tom Petty, George Harrison, and Roy Orbison. Check out some of their songs! What a great band they made!!
Love this- massive prt of my childhood with an older ELO obssesed sister playing Out of The Blue continuously!! There are so many great songs... Love, Evil Woman, Sweet Talking Woman, and Livin Thing!
"Mr. Blue Sky" is a must hear, "Evil Woman", "Strange Magic", "Livin Thing", and honestly anything and everything off the album "Time". That album is the first thing my family listens to on every road trip. It's tradition.
