Bally CLASSIC Eight Ball Deluxe 1984 version RESTORED by Dr. Dave's Pinball Restorations

- Sweet example of this relatively rare version that gives a tip of the hat to it's 1981 original version close brother EBD.
We spent over 70 hours going through everything on this game making it look and play like new. Buffed all metal to a mirror shine, new SS side rails and upgraded the flipper buttons to the 1981 standard red flipper version instead of the mid 80's style yellow video game game version. Looks and feels just like it's older brother. New playfield plastics and pop bumper caps grace the playfield artwork of this EBD. Flippers upgraded to late 70's Bally more reliable / more powerful fiber link style from the more sluggish linear flipper style ones that Bally mistakenly went with starting in 1980. New legs and leg hardware. Deluxe Titan silicone rubber installed all around for superior performance and no rubber shedding down the road. - Hry
Fun machine from the Urban Cowboy frenzy that hit in the early 80's. Seems like all the good country music bars had this game. Thanks for the upload.
Everytime I watch this I go back to the early 80's...and just now my heart rate went up to at least 150 bbm....thanks....for the play..I will never forget this machine and Xenon........

I will be restoring the 3rd in the trilogy of Eight Ball Deluxes. 1983 Limited edition with unique cabinet and paint scheme. Playfield and boards all the same so plays the same. Will turn out as nice as my other ones and will be for sale.
I have this machine and mine is #1243. I had a new playfield installed. I plan on installing modern electronic boards for safety. The backglass has slight lifting at the bottom edge ... but other than that, it's in pristine condition. A great classic machine ! I forgot to mention, Bally only made 1300 machines of this 3rd. and final run of this game.

My favorite machine of all time...I use to play this for hours..at the local pinball spot...it starts to get pissed off the more you beat it...and starts making this swirling sound, that raise's and lowers in sound to try to throw you off, ....Just now when you was playing this...my heart rate went thru the roof...I cant believe it, that after all these years it still does this to me.....................(next year will be 40 years).

i played the 81 version back in 81-83 and thats when it was still a quarter a game and 5 balls a game and 600.000 was a free game...the good ol days
I won so many free games on this machine. They shut it off on me, ,LOL So much fun! It's a beauty!

SUPERB! example of the '84 version. Looks like new - better, actually. I just got my 2nd '84 version - sold my first one in '13. The S&T board is giving me fits lol! Love the way you re-did the Flipper Buttons and new Side Rails too. Will have to do my flippers up like yours. Never noticed the backbox side art difference (we like the Married Guy) before, and didn't know about the cool ROM set, either. Kudos for giving one of the better classic pinball games a good going-over and filling us in. :)

When I was 13 this was the one game in the arcade that was actually a good deal. I regularly would have to leave the arcade with won credits left on the machine.
Same here! But I would sell them off for half price to the other kkids that were waiting to play with their quarters lined up on the palm bar.
I don't know if this is true or not, but a friend (many years ago) told me this machine was sucking more quarters in its heyday than any other pinball machine. Since it seemed to be in many bars as well as arcades and the like, it seemed believable. The soundscape of this machine is permanently etched in my mind, as is The Black Knight.
It's true! Some games like EBD were so popular, they would stop working due to the coin box overflowing with quarters and jamming the coin mech switches! The operators of these games had to step up their coin box emptying schedule!

The bootup sequence is very clever. If the game was set to 3 ball play, it will say "3 ball" right as it goes into attract mode. If the game was set for 5 ball play, it will say "5 ball" instead.
I think the one I played had the same ROMS. Could complete multiple sets of targets in a single ball. Replays at 3.6m and 5.4m if I remember correctly.
Had my most freakish game ever on it. Had multiple extra balls and the whole thing lit up like a Christmas tree for long periods. Scored over 38m with my final bonus with multiplier being just shy of 8m. Got 24 replays to boot.
Strange that, because nearly every other game I played on it was like the 2 you played.
The rom set I put in this one and all my Eight Ball Deluxe restorations isn't widely used. I've played a bunch of collectors Eight Ball Deluxes and no one else had this special rom set as it was only developed around 8 years ago. You can tell if you game has this rom set when upon bootup you see the #24 in the p;layer 1 display. The best thing about this special rom set is spelling DELUXE in order and getting the 500K reward! So hard to do but such a sweet accomplishment once achieved!

The version I played the A B (C)? I forget how many slots. You could flip the flipper and change which slot was lit or not.
Not to brag (well maybe a little) I was a literal wizard on this machine - walk in play for a few hours on a single quarter walk out was many free games left on it.
Bally never incorporated "lane change" until much later. That was a Williams thing. You either played a custom rom version or possibly missrembering/confused with a silimair Williams title from that time frame.
why does the player 1 scorer show 24? Plus the Black painted head tells you it is the 1984 version
24 is the modded software revision. This mod fixes a bug from the factory in even player and odd player scoring differences in bonus ball count and adds a skill shot in getting the DELUXE targets in order. If doing so it now awards you 500,000 points! And yes just like the title of the video says this is the 1984 version. Even a greater way to tell is the front of the cabinet is black.
How much does ones of these cost ..if I wanted to buy one...
In restored shape like this one you'd be looking at around $5k
I got mine for 1,500$ fully restored. hint of advice, keep searching the internet and follow small pinball accounts that sell cabinets, you never know when u will stuck gold like i have. Goodluck and happy pinballing!
