The kid who sold it probably told his dad he only got $300 for it and spent the rest on a weed party for his buddies.😆
😉
That's wut I said 🤣
A weed party! I can't😂
$5 buys enough weed concetrate for a small group for hrs... you buy it at a local store now too...
Exactly
Ah yes, the infamous “it just needs a carb clean”.
Yeah I have had one of them bikes just needs a clean and it needed a load of parts
It just needs to warm up - despite the engine being warm when you arrived
Yeah I never trust that when I hear/read it
This video will pay for the bike ten times over
@@SpaceRanger187 he got less than 500k subs he isn't gonna make more than 150$ on this video
This kid lucked the hell out. Almost no one would buy this. Good job on doing this for the people.
I would have offered him $500 for it. But you can get a video out of it and we get to learn something
@@chumps7974 he makes so much money on videos, that he dont care what he pays for things!!
Lucked out means to have no luck
I just don't understand how people can be so dishonest. Whenever I sell a bike I make sure that I tell the buyer everything that I know about it, good or bad. I just don't want the buyer coming back and calling me names and saying I lied.
Because people are shit! It’s a shame that people would fuck someone over money and think that’s ok a new generation of people think this way all about me what can I get ?
You selling any bikes? 😆
@@michaelc9507 Not really a new generation man, it's a tale as old as time. Everyone justifies their actions in their own heads, just the way of the world since day 1
Yeah I do the same. Shady people almost make me want to not by used bikes
same, but i also often say anything i know about it in my ad + i need to say that am no garage, no mecanic. i listed all i know about it.
cause i had people buy something and then complain the next day about stuff i have no clue about but there mecanic buddy said so. me am no mecanic you tried the quad you rode it you looked at it and my ad list all i did to it and know about it. i cant do much more.
some are nice saying they found this and this wrong but dont complain mostly u never hear from them. but had 2 guys being cunts with a chinees quad bro its a shitty quad i sold for cheap (or atleast cheap for them i wouldnt pay 1000€ for one but they did) i tried my best to make it more presentable... but there only so much i can do i cant fix china bad quality.
so now i write in every ad the same. cause poeple piss me off.
I'd ask why did you buy it. But I know you do it for us. Thanks for another great video.
He does it for the clicks.
@@bananabrooks3836 that's part of making a living on CZcams.
@@bananabrooks3836Well, that's the cynical answer. You could just say that he did it to make an interesting video.
@@ramblerandy2397 Exactly, dude literally creates youtube content for a living. Of course he does it for the clicks.
if he did not buy it...then no content for us ,,,,and no work or thrils in repairing the defects,,lol
With that much compression.Maybe you can run some diesel in it.😂
😆😆
Look at the positive Joe, That swingarm is polished to a mirror finish 🤣
Don't forget the seat has been recovered😅
What about the green stuffed chain😂
He buys this stuff for us. I doubt this bike would end up in his personal collection. By him buying it and showing us what to look for, how sellers are not always completely truthful, not only does it make some good content but it helps others looking to buy used market place bikes.
Compression is high because they allready skimmed the head or barrel previously at least once. Squish clearance etc
I love and grateful for every little detail on teaching and helping beginner bikers and self mechanics that help us maintain our bikes for lots of safe happiness in life!
Y u a beginner brother, dnt u like bikes?👀👀😬😬🤔🤝
If anyone can raise this phoenix from the ashes, it’s our man, Joe.
2vintage and coffee at 8:37 yessir !! ❤thank you for all the hard work Joe!!
coffee and the smell of burning oil and gas in the morning - what a great day
F yeahhhhhhhhh🎉
Top bar isn't bent. Thats a grab bar. Mostly used on mud bikes. Makes it easier for grabbing when stuck in deep mud.
Your correct it isn't bent but it's not ment to be a grab bar, it's designed to allow the bars to flex, it never really worked very well.
Hey Joe! I had one of those bikes, I bought for my kids a few years ago. One thing, or maybe two, I think it would be good to have added about 5 minutes to your video, to show setting the float height on your carb, and also adjusting the reed valves. Some of the folks just learning bike mechanics would be interested in learning those critical steps. Trust me, I'm not being critical, I think your videos are some of the most informative, well edited, and best produced videos on CZcams (and trust me, I watch a LOT of mechanicing videos). Being a retired engineer, and having worked on bikes (and 4-wheelers, and boats, and cars) for 50 or more years, I always look forward to your videos.
This is a testament that little kids shouldn't be allowed to play with tools and their dirt bike ... I guarantee you that motorcycle started getting more and more messed up the more he touched it
I knew kids like that growing up but i also knew kids that did proper maintainence and mechanic work. Although more rare haha. They do exist though. Usually depends on if their parents are mechanically inclined and involved or not then the kids learn by example. Some kids are on their own when they start their motorized life.
What are you talking about? you wanna stifle kids so dirtbikes are safe for only adults to work on? kids learn this way.
@@jakemallory4239 in situations like that they can learn but they should get their work checked by an adult for safety reasons dip shit ..
this comment is so stupid
Thats the only way to learn. I rebuilt my first bike at age 13
Thanks Joe for your knowledge. You've helped me do the same thing. I've been buying repairing and selling and I love it!
The kid only lied a little bit about basically everything.
I doubt the fool ever had it running at all
It didn't take much to get it running whatsoever.
Another great day to be awake to watch a 2vintage upload
not a good buy but good for your youTube content....
thats what he does it for!!!money!!
@@yeahright302 what all youtubers do it for. People act like you have to have million of subs to make money you dont. Friend of mine has 30k subs and make 8k a month off videos. Idk what more you could ask for
@@SpaceRanger187 so true, this guy in the last few years bought a house, truck and buy and sells all he wants to for free, just to make vids on you tube!!
Nice catch Joe. Love the diagnostics !
With that much compression you better be running race gas or boom. My guess is the head was shaved before for racing and then sold and new owners probably didn't run race gas and detonated itself to death! I would be looking for stock head!
Another FB marketplace gem! “Trust me it’s in great shape with fresh top end”
We pick up these ragged out bikes and quads for parts for way less than 1k down here
These are fun, interesting and informative. Glad you’re doing these types of videos!
Love the content you create digging into a cheap/clapped out bikes! To me, that's where all the fun is, as I was trying to explain at home after selling my nice bikes and bringing back a $250 crusty 1970 moped.
joe i just wanna tell you that i love watching your vids and you have taught me sooo much, keep up the great work
You definitely have at least 100 bike now damn love the videos tho its been a big help. I have helped a few of my friends get there bikes back up and run because of your videos. Thanks man!!!!
Recently picked up a wr426 (had one 20 years ago and was feeling nostalgic). The common theme for used bikes that don’t run is always it ran when it was parked and all it needs is a carb clean.
I don't think the power valves are in right with spring, maybe didn't put spring back in?? Just closed shop for the day, we're watching this vid! We're betting one another what issues are there. So far, so good!! Great vid Joe!!!
Hey Joe . Absolutely love your videos . Always view them after work .
Really enjoying your videos and i learn a lot from watching them 👍
I wouldn't have paid 100 for it!💚💛❤️
I really liked your video, so I have to leave a comment. It is very interesting to watch such projects, during which motorcycles completely damaged by an incompetent person are repaired. I wish you continued success in maintaining motorcycles and showing videos about it, maybe people will see your video and think twice before digging their nails in.
Apparently no one watched the video before commenting. Because the bike isn’t even that bad. Like $200 and a little bit of labor and this bike will be running great
It will cost twice that just to fix the cylinder, this guy never addresses the suspension on bikes and that involves a lot more than replacing a leaking seal.
I think its great content and buying
that KX or any other Clapped Bike or Quad is a win win. Keep up the good work Man its a pleasure watching you go thru them and it makes your content interesting, you know what your doing on this level keep on keeping on. 👍
Thank you so much for your vids. Leaned a lot about 2 stroke and 4 stroke dirtbikes
Brilliant video Joe watching from Edinburgh Scotland UK 🇬🇧 👍
8am just saw this. Think I would have walked away from that bike. Man that's bad
After watching you picked better than me. But I would probably have never heard the end from the wife had I brought it home lol
I love watching the repair vids not gonna lie..ive learnt so much from you
i remember watching your videos as a young lad when you had sub 1k subscribers, amazing to see how far you have come
Have you ever thought about doing a full restoration video because this would be a really cool bike to do a throw back build with. Great video thanks for the content as always 😊
This kid is not just a brilliant mechanic but he is also a superstar camera man!
I enjoyed this one! thanks!
Great video, Joe. You gotta get the correct side shrouds too!
Iwould not give him a dime for that one .No matter what you do to that bike it was abused badly . To spend a bunch of money i cannot see a good profit on resale . When any machine was abused to a level that bike was is it worth any thing . Kawasakis were good bikes and still are . I love Kawasakis and Hondas .
It's totally worth what he paid for it! And you can probably break even with it too once it's all said and done. And don't forget he's going to profit because he's a CZcamsr and this was great content.
Always love the videos would be cool to see a series on the complete process of buying fixing and selling maybe flipping dirt bikes till I can buy a new truck or something appreciate the content
Another bike will be fully rebuild and checked over (good bike to sell), making great video's, i love it. Big Up!
All you have to do is invest $2500 in repairs plus $1060 purchase price and now you have a $1500 bike! 😂😂😂
I have a few of those 😆.
I've had cars like that, $1500, within a year $2,000 in immediate repairs (to keep it running), and another $1,000 near future repairs
Why is he still making rookie mistakes tho he's always telling people what to look out for and how not to get scammed
Helps when you get a few thousand from CZcams for the content
Not the case but ok
Lovely bike Joe ,can't wait to c wot u can do with it!😬😬👀👀👍🤝
Youre a trooper mate. I wouldnt have touched this with a barge pole.
Gotta love the W buys when you get those 🤝🏽
Probably add $ for tires, plastics, graphics, and a little touch up paint. Always nice to see you get a win, nice work!
Great video joe.
Nice! At first I wondered why you'd pay a grand for it, but it's not so bad after all. Great work!
Just picked up a basket case kx250 for $1000. Supposedly needed a carb clean. Has 225 lbs of compression and blown crank bearings. You’re 125 made me feel a little better about my purchase 😂
You didn't do bad at all we've all been there! That's worth a thousand all day long!
depending on the year an eBay part out could give you a return on you're investment if all fails, youd just need to be patient.
$1060 lmao, those be hard haggling figures
Personally, I would've held tight at $1050. 🤣
1000 to pay back mom and dad and 60 for a half ounce of weed later
Half O for 60? Hmu with where your getting those prices 😆
@@fordfan6474 Canada man we have $100 ounces all day long hell even the dispo has ounces for 140 and those are Canadian dollars so take 30% off if your American😂
Dude, go somewhere else. Youre getting the dirt. I think total opposite 😂...stuff is insane now. (From what i hear).@@sevendyseven4090
Excellent video as always
Nice one Joe, better than it looked…so far👍👍👍
jeez dawg, 200lbs of compression on a 125?!? Wow.
I was just saying that?!?!
If the kid you bought it from did the work and he was learning, I think he actually didn't do that bad.. I mean there were a few things he needs to learn, and that broken key was definitely the straw that broke the camel's back for the seller I'm going to bet.. Nice work Joe that's really not so bad all in, even if you're another 200 on the rear shock assembly, whatever. It's not a bad starter bike for someone!!
The barrel or the head may have already been ground which could account for the high compression ,
Love ya work thanks for sharing
This poor girl 🏍, she ended up in the right hands for a little TLC 🙏 Joe got this 👍
Oh god that bird whistling I miss that so much I’m from MA now living in AZ and I hate it I legit watch your older blogs for the old feels of home I love your property man it’s so peaceful you bust your ass everyday to enjoy that beautiful landscape I envy you bro
Once you seen that head and that gap. No antifreeze and jb welled. 500 or Im walking. You already know what it is. Love your show
Thank you for this Video . Till the next time 😊.
That’s rough!!
Some1 obviously didn't give a shit about this bike,man it's a dogs breakfast!👎👎🤡🤡😬😬🤔🤔👀👀👀💀🤝
good dx on this one! you should do a special on your parts washer - solvents/before and after pics, ultrasonic cleaner etc you need to add tires to parts list, new filters, shock oil plus labor @50/hr to get a real price but probably well worth it for somebody out there for sure - will be a screamer - do a followup when you put it all back together - just hammer bars back into shape, get new grips, update plastic a bit, maybe paint frame back to kawa green - when you get sprockets think about gearing maybe add or subtract a tooth here or there
As soon as I saw the j b weld i would have walked away good teach able content none the less.....thnx for sharing brother...... 🔥🔥🔥❤️👍🏽💯
Oh Man!
I would say it’s 👏🏻
Let’s see how this goes, you got a good one here for content!
Hey, but at least the swing arm is polished. That JB weld came off way easy.
In the UK we call that a field bike and would pay a 150 for it, and it would need to be running lol
I did enjoy the take down, and was happy to see less wrong than i expected
That high compression is due to its overbore kit. When you will grind the had to be flat, it will even increase the compression more. You should use some thicker gasket to compensate for it.
Great video nice surprise for the good this time
As many bikes you work on I would invest in a bike lift. I can be a tax right off too.
lol your just so accustomed to getting screwed that this one snuck in and surprised you that awesome it will be fun to see how it turns out!
"I'll take your word for it" LOL C'mon Joe. Great video on the green grenade.
I had a 98 kx250, loved that bike. Sold it to fund college.
I love how every time your phone goes off its always when you either find something bad or find something good. It's like an achievement unlock.
Another great video!!!
Haven't gotten past the compression test yet, but my fresh rebuilt kx had 210. So variations between testers 220 doesn't seem to bad.
My thoughts on the high compression, and I’m by no means a mechanic. But all that water in the fuel if it got into the cylinder and water does not compress, maybe that is the cause?
Love the channel I'm sure I can say that we really appreciate the effort you put into the projects however I think some projects should be passed on this may have been one of them LOL
Watch the channel all the time and amazed at the deals he gets, but this is more the reality of the bikes available in my neck of the woods, I'm surprised You paid so much, but good one for the channel
Kdx 200 is my favorite and current woods bike just keep up with the maintenance and rebuild the top end every 2 years or 60-80 hours to keep the piston from cracking and locking up the crank or destroying the hole entire engine or casings
6:58 Joe I had a 3.0 litre v6 in my boat and it had a massive crack in the water jacket on the block about 4 inchs long. I sanded the heck out of it by hand then gave it a very thin layer of high temp silicone. Then 3 layers of regular jb weld and let it dry for 3 days (1 layer per 24hrs.) and It was brand new Boat. I ran it that way for over 10 years wot 90% of the time. Never leaked at all. When I got rid of it it was starting to drip maybe 1 drip every minute when running, which was nothing. Now that is one of the few times it has worked for me. And although i am a handy dandy kinda fella. If the kid did it Well i will have to watch the rest and see. Also my block was good ol iron not aluminum which i believe that is. Oh and that suspension when you were using your hand. On my phone it was the funniest thing ive seen yet. I was kicking and bucking laughing so hard. I know you bought it to make a vid. But wowzers I would have charged him to haul it away. The scrap value wont even pay for the fuel. Ok back to the show. Love ya bro.
I did bike-flipping back in the late 70's and 80's just like you are now doing....for the life of me I can't understand why you would pay good money for a roach like this??? On top of it....any time I went to deal on a bike I made sure I gave it a compression test and looked the ENTIRE BIKE to see cracks, JB Weld, cowboy engineering, etc. Seems, too, that you deal with a lot of liars in Montana. We didn't have as many in Wyoming. All in all, a good video and you did better than I thought on this bike.
I think he now buys for our entertainment. Not sustainable without our views.
He's making money making videos, not flipping bikes. He's also not in Montana...

@@pjm204 Thanks I had that all wrong.

Ok so I have to say we all had to start learning how to work on things somewhere buuuut somewhere there has to be a parent who should have told the kid you have to be honest with people as well. Great video I actually bust out laughing when I heard you say well lets see if it will start. Thanks for the videos.
Road hard and put away wet, with someone who field built it, and never had the money to fix it up right. Past owners, just never fixed anything, just did very basic bandaid fixes, until it needed a new rebuild!😊
Excellent. Thank you. Like a box of chocolates.
I get it now; junk bike brought back to life=great marketable content 👍
13:35 let’s get a compression tester in there… and we’ll Check it! 😂 so excited
Resurfacing the head and jug again ain’t gonna bring that compression down any 😂. You may have to port the dome/ combustion chamber a bit.
Clutch is banging
A wise man once said, "Know when to walk away and know when to run." Really, Grandma only rode it to church on Sundays and Ash Wednesdays. It wouldn't start this morning, it may be out of gas. Where is your sense of adventure? Replace the engine with a KX450sr engine
Good job brother , you lycked out with minimal damage !
When I saw that go to 225, I was laughing hysterically that was AWESOME!!!!
So why did you pay 1k for a bike that is in such poor condition. After watching the whole vid you’re the man.
I would love to see you do a 2001 KTM EXC 250 2 stroke like this so I could learn more about my bike
Whats the cost of resurfacing the head..? Keep up the great content 👏
Man, what are you going to do with all of these bikes and quads? You may want a museum for all that stuff 😉
I think you just really enjoy the task at hand and the challenge and reward of accomplishment
