Since the cable for earphones act as an antenna, if you switch to different/custom ones will there be a big difference in signal?

I bought this a few days ago and tried it out at rehearsal yesterday. It worked, but there was a LOT of static at first, and I absolutely cannot figure out how to adjust the settings, sync the thing, etc. It's way too complicated, and the user manual is a joke.
I'm not saying this isn't a great IEM system; I'm sure it is, but the user interface is not intuitive and the learning curve - especially if you're going to get full functionality out of it - is VERY steep. (And look, I'm not an engineering genius, I'll admit that, but geez... I REALLY WISH someone would do a proper "How To Set Up And Adjust" video for this thing.)

I run a production company in Miami and just bought four units with plans for another four. In the price range - and even beyond - this is an incredible product. The narrator in the video did a great job of consolidating a ton of important information that end users like me would want to know in a short time. Maybe you’re just not the target audience.
