Thanks Phillip , from Portland or.Really like to thank you for the gear videos , tips and tricks , it’s awesome to be able to go here and see and learn so much interesting stuff about gear , guitars etc,Merry Christmas and happy new year!
Thank you baby jesus for your channel reviewing this. EVERY other review of this consists of literally 5 seconds of them saying 'this is the joyo amp' then they play guitar for 30 minutes.
Hi Phil. Would be great to see an updated review on the Joyo Tweedy Bantamp XL or entire line. I'm very surprised and impressed with this amp. Currently using as a backup and practice amp.
I’ve heard the best way to tone up these amps is to run the drive up just until that 12ax gets warmed up. Then any additional gain should come from pedals. Usually dropping the tone knob back to 11 or 10 o’clock. When you drive the amp with just the solid state and tube you get that really squishy distortion sound.
Clean sounds is good, but on the other hand once the gain is high.. it sounds like a patch from a bad multi effects pedal. Not sure if it is the way it is recorded. That's just me. I love joyo's cheap stomps though. Many thanks for the review!
Nice review as always. However, you say “it’s the only one doing that” when mentioning the amps Bluetooth feature. The Blackstar BEAM also has that same feature, AND has inbuilt multieffects, can be used for both bass guitar, electric guitar and acoustic guitar, sounds great and also has superwide stereo.💁🏼
I have the BlueJay. Very impressive. Would love to see your take on it, particularly as a pedal platform and also with what type of cabinet sounds great. Also, any chance you could do a shootout with other amps like this? Vox MV Clean?
quick question, can you use this amp for direct to audio interface or mixer? ive been thinking of buying between the blue jay/atomic or amp in a box pedal to go direct.
You should do a review of the Joyo Bantcab one day. As the name would suggest, it is a speaker cabinet that is designed to go with the Bantamp series of amp heads.
I bought this amp. I love it. I just wish it had a foot switch for channel switching instead of a toggle. A pedal works great anyway , so it's really not a big deal. If it needs to be louder for a gig, put a mic in front of it. It's a hell of alot easier to carry than a half stack. And a hell of alot cheaper.
Looking forward to the Bluejay demo. Curious to hear the Jackman in person where any CZcams audio effect doesn't get in the way before I pass judgement too far. The boost sure made it sound thin and scratchy to my ears, but the sound prior to that wasn't so bad for a low watt low priced amp. Seems like I'm in the minority based on early comments.
When you connected the pedal I didn't see you turn the gain off on the amp. Some light hate me for saying this, but there is such a thing as too much gain. I believe that was the cause of the fizziness.
You don't need a cab at all. Headphones or a DAC will do. These are best used in the home studio anyway. Not that I would use the Jackman, it sucks. The Meteor and the Zombie however, unbeatable.
I don't think it sounded too bad. Sure, it's not as smooth/warm as a tube amp. But then, it's not as fragile as a tube amp either. Sometimes, I wonder if those that say it sounds thin 'n fizzy or whatever... are listening to it through a cell phone or pc speakers that are making it sound thin 'n fizzy? I'm listening through KRK Rokit 6 monitors and a KRK sub and it's not bad at all.
Hi Phillip, I am so lost as to WHICH Joyo Bantamp to buy. (not into the Blutooth - I play along to Ytube backing tracks on my PC/Hifi - great sound). I have looked at your review and so many others. I love a Clean Strat (neck and middle PUP) sound and a Big distorted Bridge PUP sound with my San Dimas. I currently use my old Yamaha G100 212ll (with the volume almost Off), that is way too Large, heavy and loud and rough looking for my sitting room/lounge. I was thinking of putting the Yam' G100 speakers into a nice cabinet and running them with a Joyo Bantamp? I also use a Golden plexi distortion pedal, a Joyo Dyna Compressor and a Zoom G3Xn Multi FX. I have a San Dimas that I bought after you reviewed it and have loved it ever since. I also have a Bullet Strat. Please can you offer any suggestions. Thank you, from the UK
This may or may not be a stupid question, but is this considered an amp "head"? And if so, how would you compare this to the Orange Micro Terror? They are about the same price. Thanks!
I got myself a Joyo Zombie, and Joyo Vivo. I am using them with a Harley Benton Vintage 1x12 cab, and the Zombie sounds great. The ViVo is very hissy amp... I am thinking about swapping the tube, because once I lower the gain to very low, it stop hissing. And the Zombie just does not hiss with gain at max... So I am guessing the tube is defective.
quick question, can you use this amp for direct to audio interface or mixer? ive been thinking between blue jay/atomic or amp in a box pedal to go direct.
@@kibon8387 I am no recording engineer, but I would say no. The back has 2 output: - 1 for the speaker cab - 1 for the headphones (mini-audio standard) for cab simulation. If you want to use this amp in a recording studio, I think you have to mic it up with a proper cab.

Hi Phillip, i want to know in your opinion, which is closest to the jcm 800 sound: the bantamp jackman or the pedal pal fx 800 emulator? I know you've tried both. Cheers.
The biggest, glaring, omission on all of the Bantamps is that you cannot footswitch from the clean channel to the dirty channel. That functionality would make them an ideal practice amp for bands.
great vid n' amp.. but just one doubt.. if I wanna play through the headphones is it necessary to plug the amp into a cab ?? or Can I play just through the headphones connected into the amp??..I'll appreciate someone replies me..t-you..=)
I think the "cleaner" sound was a bit better. The distorted tone sounded a little brighter than a Marshall tube amo to my ears. Maybe it sounds different in person since it's coming out of my computer speakers. It's an interesting idea. we'll see if other companies build similar units. One thing I always take into consideration is that -to me- you are going to trade tone and power for size and "novelty". I also don't really like when one amp tries to copy another amp. It's almost always a failure. You're better off designing around your own original sound. I don't think I'm going to go out and buy one of these right now, but we'll see what other products come out in the future. I also wonder how much of a difference other pre-amp tubes would make.
As a Chinese I never trust any chinese music brands, cheap made bad quality. But this one totally blown me away. I doubt those negative reviews ever own a tube amp. I never found an effects pedal or an amp below $500 that can give a nice Mesa Boogie rectifier sound until tried this.
listening with my studio headphones - this sounded just 'okay'... Honestly, so far, the Joyo Zombie is the best I have heard of this series. Obviously a metal-oriented amp head, check Ola Englund's demo here: czcams.com/video/7CQkIpotu0M/video.html The Zombie would probably be the only one of these mini-heads from Joyo I personally would buy, but I AM a metal player. Their pedals are excellent though.

(Real tone knob, better gain structure and cabinet simulated headphone out, while being cheaper) The Jackman and Atomic are the only unusable Joyo amps.
