Will the P365XL frame accept the P365 slide? In this video I try it out and see...
Update: I've reached out to Sig Sauer, and their customer service representative told me that swapping the slides around is a supported configuration, and if I have any issues running with the slides swapped, it would be supported by Sig Sauer.
In short, the answer is that both configurations can be created:
* P365XL frame with P365 (shorter) slide
* P365 frame with P365XL (longer with optic cut) slide
I demonstrate that both function properly with 5 rounds at the range.
In this video, we quickly drop the slides off of the P365 and the P365XL, swap them onto opposite frames, and try them at the range.
Benefits of running the P365 slide on the P365XL frame may include:
* Shorter slide length for better concealability than the P365XL as it is
* Larger (P365XL) capacity
* Utilizes the P365XL straight trigger
However, this gives up the P365XL optic cut, and may result in a configuration that is unsupported by the manufacturer. - Sport
Longer slide on the shorter grip is perfect to reduce printing from the butt of the gun while giving you the option of running a red dot and taking advantage of a little more barrel length. Barrel length generally doesn't contribute to printing until you are well over 4 inches.
Especially when you run a mag extension. I honestly like the reverse look. I'd like to put the shorter 365 slide on the XL grip. Looks like Sig thought the same as they just released the 365X.
My S&W 9c is set up more like this. It has a 3.5” barrel with two finger grip with 12+1 capacity and you could get extended mags aftermarket if you wanted. The only bad thing is the trigger sucks.
He's right. I'm under 4 inches and Hardly print at all unless excited
@@whatfreedom7nice that what I’m going for the xmacro on regular p365 grip module still get the compensator and the short gun grip for conceal
Great vid. I want the longer slide but keep my short grip module to be able to use 10, 12, or 15 round mag depending on how concealed I need to be
Cory Hobbs I’m the opposite. Interesting......
@@rathernotsay8185nah the xmacro slide on the regular p365 grip module is a combo
You are the GOAT for actually testing the swap! Thank you, now I know what to tell my wife to get me for X- Mas😂
Thank you I've been looking for someone to try this
Thanks for the information, straight forward and to the point!
Was looking for exactly this. Really good and right to the point video! Thanks!
I’ve wanted to get the XL grip and this video just made me feel comfortable enough to do. I usually run the 12 round mag anyway which makes it the same size as a xl so I’d rather have something g sturdy. I am very comfortable shooting this Sig. I outshot my g34 with it. Though I’m thinking my truglo sight might have been off on the glock
I like using my 12 rnd 365xl factory mag in my standard p365 and sas...hangs out about 3/4 of an inch and makes for a really secure grip...try it
Which was more pleasing for you to shoot? I have always thought about putting a regular 365 frame on my XL slide for better concealment. Wondered why sig made the 365X I'd assume people would want longer slide for accuracy and shorter frame for concealment? I just didn't see the point in the X model since in my opinion it's pointless to shorten the barrel since it's not the part that prints nor is a 3.6 barrel long enough to bother most people
thank u for answering my question
Perfect video and thank you
Thanks. Was wondering if this would work.
Thank you
Thank you for sharing and trying this out. Can you also do a video swapping just the barrels and nothing else please? Thank you
The barrels between the 365 and 365XL are different lengths
With my p365x, all i needed was the XL slide and barrel. They use the same FCU.
Is it better shooting with the longer slide? I have an x as well, was wondering about turning the x into a xl (basically what you did)
@@tatedoh im not a sensitive shooter so it all feels the same to me. with the longer slide i can use the macro grip, thats all i cared about lol. i got the slide for cheap so thats that too.
edit. the p365x/xl is mostly a polymer gun. you'll feel the recoil much more than say a full metal gun.
Did this exact thing with my 365. Now,, for me, I have the perfect Sig
Great review of swapping slides. Here is a more pertinent question assuming someone has one pistol and wants to swap out grips of the other pistol. If someone has the P365XL and wanted to use the P365 grip, can the P365XL “firearm trigger module” be inserted into a P365 grip shell? There would be the issue of the magazines working too if there is a difference between chassis magazine catches.
This would be the more likely scenario. If someone had both pistols then they can play swappsies. But most would want one over the other and then the small vs big hands becomes a issue.
I personally think I want the XL in a standard P365 grip since I don’t like the flared mag insert. Trigger isn’t an issue either but I’ve never used a straight trigger.
Great question. If you want the flat trigger, here's another option.
I put an aftermarket skeletonized flat trigger in my p365 from Armory Craft into my p365 and found it a vast improvement in a already good trigger.
It will cost more and their lead time is months, never have in stock. But this upgrade along with a Lightning Strike forged CNC firing pin and TruGlo Bright-Site TFX has improved an already awesome CCW, IMHO.
Only reason I am considering this change is for improved accuracy and reduced muzzle flip. It won't worsen imprinting or concealability since extra length below waistband against the body.
Only other thing I'm considering is going SAS and moving the trigger and striker over to get smooth surface.
Best of luck
The xl upper + fire control unit will swap over into a standard 365 grip. I have this setup and it works fine.
@@GaryCimsRN SAS sights are garbage. Avoid it.
I can’t find an answer for this on the web but this video helps. If I have a 365 can I swap the trigger group into a 365xl?
Yes
Thanks
I too am interested is seeing if the longer xl barrel will fit and function in the shorter 365 slide. Hope you will demonstrate.
Have you tried or found an answer to this? I want my XL to be flush on the end like the regular 365 is.
@@Ryan.S924 I purchased the True Precision threaded barrel for the 365XL. Founded it for a very good price and made it worth the gamble. It sticks out the front of my 365 about an inch and a half. Function is normal and the extra length has not been a problem with its use. Don't know how much more velocity I'm getting over the regular short barrel and have no way to test it at the moment.
@@chucksdesk so I’m trying to figure out how to use my full factory XL to fit flush like the 365. So when you put the 365 slide and barrel on the XL grip mod flush it is. I’d like to use as much of my XL as possible so I don’t have to buy as much. I wonder if all I need is a regular 365 slide with XL barrel and regular 365 recoil spring on my XL frame will do the trick. Therefore all I’ll need to buy is a 365 slide and recoil spring. But not sure how it would all act together.
@@Ryan.S924 I think I am understanding what you are asking now. Is this correct? You want to use your XL grip but have the shorter barrel like the regular 365. My gun is a regular 365 and I wanted the longer barrel with the regular 365 grip. When researching if I could do what I did, I found some videos on youtube where they did what I think you are asking and want to do. They had to use the regular 365 slide and barrel and spring. They put it on the 365XL grip and it looked and fired fine. You can get by with a 365XL barrel in a reg.365 slide but not a reg.365 barrel in a 365XL slide. I hope this helped. Do a search in youtube and you can probably still find those videos. czcams.com/video/78ZJolAuHc0/video.html P365 P365XL Slide Swap
@@chucksdesk I’ve watched them. I want my XL to fit flush like the reg 365 does. But I want to buy the least amount of parts. I’d like to use most of what I already own. So my question was can I use my XL barrel in a Reg 365 slide on my XL frame. I think I could. I’d just need a reg 365 recoil spring. And I’ll also need to purchase a reg 365 slide. Anyone have one for sale!!??
I wish they would configure that with the P365 slide vacation w/ manual safety so I could add the XL slide.
I wanna see the longer barrel IN the shorter slide shot.
Can you take the barrel and spring out of the 365xl and put it into the 365 slide
Tommy Miller the spring probably will not work because of difference in slide length. The barrel could work.
anyone else think dudes thumbs look like spoons? lol hehehe
🤣🤣🤣🤣had to go back and rewatch
They kinda look like big toes
@@trevorbraden5448 hahahah
Man those thumbs were driving me crazy!! 😂
@@biglaw24 I know. I dont think i even followed the video because if them spoons lol
I like shorter grip on XL slide for EDC. 😊
Can I use the 365xl internals.in the 365 slide? I really want a side ported slide, but can't find an xl.one that is side ported
I came here to see if the XL slide would work on the shorter grip. Brownels has the XL slide on sale for 99 bucks with a cut out for the red dot. Looks like I would also need the longer barrel? Spring? What else? to complete the longer slide? But it looks do-able.
Very helpful I have a 365 but I want a bigger grip module, seems I can do that now
Have you done it ? And did you have to get new mags ? Or did the p365 ones work with thr linger grip
@@victorortega2718 no but I'm pretty sure you need new mags for it too. I got new flat trigger though lol
My main question is will the Lima laser still fit on the p365 slide with the XL Module??
Do you notice any primer drag on the P365 XL? Some have said that they no longer have primer drag. I will pick one up if that is the case. Thanks.
Sorry but I didn't pick up or inspect any casings.
@@WerkzHolsters I'm also interested to see if there is any/less primer drag on a combination of slides and frames with the 365s
broncos2763 legally armed America did a video on the XL and reported no excessive drag.
broncos2763 they fixed that issue.
I have a new p365, not the xl, and primer strikes were perfect on it where the two I had previously had some very noticeable primer drag. I do believe they fixed that issue across the board.
What Mag works? I have a p365 and I added the XL module and now my 10rd and 15 rd do not fit.
Will the mags for the p365 work on thr xl?
I've been thinking about getting an XL slide for my 365, do I need to also swap mags? It sounds like he said he was using 365xl mag for the one with the xl slide
All XL and P365 mags will fit the standard p365 grip module. Only 12 and 15 round mags with the XL floor plate will fit the xl grip module. I.e. a 12 round mag for the p365 grip will only fit the xl grip if you install the appropriate baseplate. But with the XL base plate it will fit either grip, though it won't be flush with the standard grip, it will function though and still offer somewhere to put your pinky. The slide has nothing to do with that. Just the grip module.
Pretty area, where you were shooting. What state is this?
Thanks! It's northern Idaho not terribly far from Moscow ID.
It basically says if you upgraded one of these and have an extra slide and barrel you can repurpose your parts instead of buy a new gun.
👍
I did the swap cause I wanted a 365x with manual safety. Sig says they make them but I've not seen one anywhere nor has my LGS. So I bought a 365xl with manual safety and stuck a 365 slide on it.
Makes sense to me!
The sig P365 and the XL will take out the Glock 43.
I was going to buy the *SIG P365XL.* But I watched some other videos by the regular buyers of the SIG P365 XL and
all said the slide has:
1. *binding issues.* This sticking or binding has from no effect to jamming of the slide out of battery.
2. *dry firing* is very difficult as the gun's slide takes a huge effort to just pull it back while the trigger is held in.
I bought the bigger but more reliable *SIG P320* Compact instead.
Just a heads up.
sweetcostarica yea p365 isn’t that hard to pull back. Besides it’s meant to fire actual bullets. So the issue of dry fire being hard is next to pointless concern.
@@1014p I am taking about the new SIG P365XL. Not the fixed SIG P365 which I never mentioned. Please read my posted comment.
I just bought the XL and I love it. Better sights in my opinion and it shoots with less recoil. Still super concealable.
@@sweetcostarica that does happen but after so many racks and shots that goes away..... but the gun functions fine ive had absolutely no issues out of mine and I'm around 1200 rounds
Why would you think they don’t fit?
What about only barrel swap
Why not just run a 12 round magazine in the 365? It literally makes the grip length the same and adds the extra weight of the added 2 rounds as well.
Not sure what youre trying to accomplish or what your goal is, but the xl frame has a flared magwell and flat face trigger too. And the xl slide has the rmr cut out and a longer sight radius. So there are upgrades whether you go with just the xl slide or just the xl frame over a 365 with the 12 rounder.
Buckeye Banshee nope..... a high percentage of us cant stand the wobbly extended mag. I’ll take a REAL full length grip any day over something that would wobble... even just a little.
@Buckeye Banshee I'm thinking about putting my P365 slide and internals in the P365 XL grip module for a few reasons. Mainly because I never use the 10 round flush mags anyway because of the size of my hands, and I do get that needed real estate when using the 12 and 15 round magazines. The issue I have with my P365 is that when I drop a magazine to reload I lose a third of my grip on the pistol and I have to adjust the grip of my shooting hand out of the way to insert a fresh mag or else it usually pinches my pinkie or my palm. With the XL grip module I personally would not have these issues anymore, and you also get a little bit of a flared mag well which is just a nice touch to have. I'm seeing the XL grip module online for about $40, so for not very much money I can fix the only complaint I have with my carry gun. These are the main reasons why I personally am probably going to make the switch from my current P365 grip module using 12 rounders with the extended grip to the XL grip module utilizing flush fit 12 rounders and continuing to carry a 15 rounder as a backup. If somebody with smaller hands doesn't have these issues then I don't see a reason to mix and match like I plan too.
Trigger swap?
yes you can
Lima pronounced lee-ma. 🤦🏻♂️
Not Lie-ma? Like Lima bean hehehheh
lol your hands are two sizes larger than mine, making those look absolutely minimal in your hands

Very bad gun handling. Do not release the slide stop and let the slide shoot forward. If it lands on the front of the guide rod, it will bend the slide and you will have to buy a new slide. . This has happened to numerous firearms of all brands, not just SIG.
