3 Players Whose Cards Are Down Big In 2024 đŹ
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 21. 07. 2024
- Every year we have players who overperform expectations and their cards move way up. We also have a handful of superstar players who underperform expectations and their cards drop quickly. In this video I look at three players and discuss their 2024 performance and what has happened to their baseball card prices so far in 2024.
Can we get a video on Bryce Harper Rookie Cards. I still don't understand them. Plus he is very much a potential Hall of Famer and I feel like his cards are confusing and underpriced after seeing Julio cards were selling for 5 digits.
Hey Chris, sure! I can make one and release it over the next week or two!
@@scottiebcards2354 that's amazing! I always feel like I'm crazy but the more I try to figure it out the more confusing it gets! You're the man!
He did one a couple years ago thatâs helpful
I think one of the biggest confusions with Harper is which is the true RC 2012 Topps S2 or Update? It's the annoying SP vs flagship base debate
Tells me you should be buying them now. I think youâre right about HOF
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so informative! I love getting facts like this. Please keep doing what you do.
Great video Scott thanks
Anytime, thank you for watching!
In your opinion what would be a good card to go after of Julio with his market being down?
4:26 "Eight hundred bucks....that sucks" lol
đ I didn't think it was worth sugar coating it haha. Thank you for watching!
Great video.
Julio Rodriguez is the one of the biggest crashes I've ever seen. Topps hyped him so much in commercials you'd think he was the next Ken Griffey Jr. Hope he turns it around but at this current rate we're looking at the next flash-in-the-pan phenoms.
Good, I'm waiting for a chance to buy the Julio/Ichiro update SSP for a good price. As of now, it's going for $600 raw. There's no way in hell I"m paying anywhere near that for a raw one.
Julio is interesting. People have been stating he's a slow starter for months but as you point out, it's July already. So, something's gotta change. That said, I look at Bryce Harper's early career, notably his age 23 season, and am reminded progression of young players is not linear. Still a (cautiously optimistic) buyer.
Do you have a video for cards that have shot up thanks to 2024?
Hello! I am releasing a video on this next week or the following week! I do not want to focus on just the negative. Thanks for watching.
Of the three, Carroll is the one to be most concerned about because of that injury and because he signed A LOT of autographs for 2023 products. Acuna has the positive of lower print runs in the late 2010s, and Julio's insane start to his career wasn't fully sustainable. A strong September for Julio and postseason performances will make the hobby go bananas once again.
I agree that Carroll is the most concerning. Major shoulder injuries that zap power can be career killing. It is also unfortunate his defense isn't elite with the speed he has. I hope that it heals up and that he is able to be himself again!
Hope he turns it around. Heâs a super nice guy, always has time for the fans.class act
Absolutely need a video on trout cards.
how I see it -- Bad maybe if you're trying to unload JROD cards. It's good for me tho, cause I love him and believe in him and want to collect him cause I see him every day. so I don't really mind that his cards get getting more affordable atm lol
100% agree here đ been picking up some great cards. That and Cal who has always been cheaper because of his age. That last grand slam raised his prices a tiny bit, but introduced a lot of cool new cards to the market because of people trying to sell off their cards during a short hype period.
Definitely could be a great buying opportunity for a 23 year old 2 time top 10 mvp finisher. Let's hope this season is just a fluke.
@@scottiebcards2354 First off, just want to say, love the videos. Very insightful. I feel that JRod is going to warm up more after the ASG, and hopefully he can carry it into the fall. Honestly I would rather have him hot in the second half as it increases the chance of the Mariners going into the postseason.
Quality video
Overkill on stats for Julio Rodriguez. Baseball needs to just get back to basic stats. Players today are more over toned with muscle, hence injuries. Not like the old days when the great hitters hardly ever got hurt or pitchers.
some guy wrote a story that Skubal was the sleeper cy young in spring training - i bought over 100 of his auto rookie cards at $1 each - that was my gamble that paid off this year. lol - have lots that didn't but glad I have one this year that worked out.
Card from thumbnail was gorgeous
I think carroll has a similar injury to the one bellinger had a few years back. It took him 2 full seasons before he started coming back around. Same for carroll hopefully. Possible buy window.
Acuna bat down was around $1200 in Jan. Bc I acquired it cash plus trade thinking it was a good get (had been even higher) đ
Baseball is a game of constant adjustments. Hitters find success, pitchers change their patterns. Back and forth it goes. Also hitting is difficult (30% success rate is elite).
I love these types of videos. Thanks for the info! I think JRod is the most likely to recover value this year of the 3. Especially if he can go off in the playoffs.
Need a video in Michael Harris Jr. As a Braves fan, I know heâs hurt, but waiting for him to step his game up big time. With Acuna out, this is his time
As a Mariners fan I'm hoping Julio figures stuff out. I think he will. It would be shocking to see someone with his potential become just a JAG.
Only way he reaches his full potential is eventually finding a way out of Seattle and heading to a legit team. Havenât been many special enough to shine in Seattle throughout the teamâs history for it to be worth Seattle locking them up for a while, and those rare special players who have bailed for legit teams as soon as they could. I think Julio is the type of hitter who would benefit greatly from having some lineup protection being in a legit lineup.
I'm still holding out hope for Julio. He got so hot down the stretch last year. He's so young too. But he's never going to have those monster seasons if he keeps starting like this. Carroll is a shocker but the injury makes sense. He did tail off last year. But if the shoulder is a recurring thing that's a big problem. He's a small guy too so the power might not come easy. I enjoy speculating on young players. Much more interesting than autographs and chase cards/variations. But yes, when you think about it how many of these guys are going to the HOF? Just look at the recent players we were going crazy for like Vladi, Tatis Jr., Bichette, and now Acuna. It's still early for them. I'm sure a lot of us were off the Aaron Judge bandwagon. But still.
& on 7-6-24 Julio Rodriguez was taken out the lineup before his 1st AB of the game wit a Quad injury đ€Šsucks i was one who purchased a few of his rookie cards to flip that im probably gonna just sit on & hope he turns it around eventually
Julio Rodriguez is like that one co worker who is always late does nothing for 5 hours takes extra time for lunch then busts his ass for the last 2 hours and somehow manages to get the job done!
đ€Ł
Once these kids see the multi million dollar contracts, they lose their hunger. They don't care if they perform or not. Plus, I think Julio has p***y on the brain with his new gf. But then again, what 23 year old doesn't??
That's actually me. And is considered(in my professional opinion) quite the compliment and appreciated the fact that our efforts and jobs are recognized. So ThaNks for noticing the job itself that's our goal and it gets â
đđ
HEY, how did you manage to get my work ethic in here?? đ€Ł Actually it's because I've been at the same position for 20 years, and everything is streamlined as streamlining can be. I literally have enough stuff to do for one day, and can goof off the rest of the week if I wanted. đ€ŁBut I choose to take my time, so It takes me all week. Dangit, Dagwood!
Need one on Bo Bichette
His card prices are because he plays in Canada.
I'm surprised that you didn't mention Wander Franco.
Itâs good to buy low. Get them while you can and hopefully they perform better
Did you end up getting that shohei card scott?
Nope, never have.... Good thing he isn't the MVP front runner and best player in the NL, right? đ
@scottiebcards2354 I've been watching your videos for a while now. It's fun to watch your inner debate of whether or not to pick one up đ
Great buying opportunities on Acuna and J-Rod, in my opinion. Those guys are top tier. Corbin? Not so much.
What has Julio done to show he's top tier except have one good year
To be fair, the first two years of his career were top 10 MVP finishes. That seems lost this year unfortunately.
Acuna has had 2 torn ACL injuries. A risky buy imo.
Seattle always has that issue with their prospects.
I've been loading up on Julio cards as they've been a relative bargain.
If you are a long term believer than now may be the time!
lol. he better get a good swing
Ronald Acuna Jr đŻđ„đđ
I miss the rookie card videos for stars đą
I am going to start something like that again here soon!
@@scottiebcards2354I miss those too. Itâs how I discovered your channel. Watched them so many times too, theyâre so fun. Also a great reference for new collectors
Julio Rodriguez, Jordan Walker, Nolan Gorman, Nolan Jones, Corbin Carroll. All got contracts, all struggling. 2 of them got bounced to the minors. Not to speak of the mess that is pitchers.
Julio Rodriguez cards were super baked in.
Jrod is like a blindfolded toddler swinging at a piñata. The jrod shit show
Simple.
Everyone is about the newest and greatest.
Everyone falls off after the rookie year (not latest and greatest) combined with anything less than an MVP year let alone a decline in production.
I agree... Buying young guys in any sport is a recipe to lose money, but people are in it for that 1-5% of the time where it pays off. Thanks for watching!
@@scottiebcards2354 ie gambling
He has a noodle arm...hahahahha
OkâŠ. Letâs be positive. Show me those Aaron Judge numbers. đ
Corbin Carroll has got to be playing through a significant injury
Or heâs like dozens of other players over the years who start out great then fade into oblivion
So Corbin Carroll has become Henry rowengardner đ€Ł heâs lost his super power. Great movie! Rookie of the Year.
Haha! Great reference. Thanks for watching.
@@scottiebcards2354 itâd be awesome someday to get on spitballing cards or have you on batter up.
People pump the brakes! Julio and Corbin are both only 23 and acuna tore his ACL. They'll be fine
The hitting coaches, instructors and coordinators in Seattle are awful. Why do so many Mariner hitters underperform. This has been going on for a decade now. (Think Adrian Beltre)
Betts is down too. Injured
I respect Scottie. He tends to do his homework, but " Player Performance Year to Year, does not make the Player necessarily Uncollectible." .. From experience: Player values become ' quite desired and quite collectible, "Long after they retire." ... They become Sports Newscasters, Television Personalities, they Purchase Teams, Some date and Marry popular Singers and Stars, and the list goes on. ' Hell, you can find Boxes of Mickey Mantle Rookie Cards at the bottom of that river, as Nobody wanted them, and were trashed back in the day for almost the same reasons, lol.. Hell, Billy Ripken Cards were Purposely cut and thrown in the Trash bin purposely, for the same reasons..
Anyway:
So: .. before You decide to simply call the Player's Cards a Wash, instead, just be patient, for ' Patience is a Virtue, 'ain't just a Saying for No Reason Friends.'
Peace

Dude...if you have other lights on in the room during long hours of screen time your eyes will thank you
Same ol same ol with modern card collectingâŠunreasonable hype when someone comes out of the gates hot, then feigned confusion when that person inevitably comes back down to earth
Even worse in footballâŠdonât even have to start your career well, card prices are dictated by where you were drafted.
6:12âŠ. And those 2 HRs have both been on the road (Rockies in April, Reds in May) đ§
Could be worth the Diamondbacks shutting Corbin down for the year and get things right for 2025.
Donât buy into hype!
Yo
This was annoying af! No one needs to look at those stats at all ever to know a guy is just having a down season. With pitching itâs relevant with velo, thatâs about it.
Good time to start hoarding those cheap Steven Kwans
Not so cheap anymore lol preseason was a goldmine
I agree, unfortunately, I do not think there are as many cheap deals on top cards anymore!
Great hitters don't take over 1/2 a season to 'get it going' year after year. Julio just might be this guy. He could probably use a psychologist more than another hitting coach at this point. Best analogy was from @g311music below.
I think Julio might figure it out.
I hope he does! Elite Julio is good for baseball!
feels like all the big stars are underperforming... lol... except 3 of them. ever since the pandemic.
TONS of veteran injuries and lots of young players underperforming. It has been strange!
Who is doing well since the pandemic besides Ohtani?
@JenniferMedina-bg1zb devers, yelich is kinda making a comeback, alveraz, harper, soto, and judge are a few I think of off top of head. That played during that year.
@@cardsncrypto5819 Yelich hit .202., .248, .252 in the years after Covid. Terrible. Soto had down years in SD. Judge was injured a bunch. Alvarez has been good, so has Harper. Devers maybe but not amazing
@@cardsncrypto5819 itâs been pretty lackluster for MLB in recent years
Sports card suck. Why wasting time people. Rather invest in the stock market or crypto đ
not as big of a waste of time than your comment
Never invest in sports cards
@JenniferMedina-bg1zb nobody invests in sports cards. they speculate and gamble but no way is it investing, lol.

Nows the time to jump on their cards before they bounce back
Every star has an off year he could be playing injured and not saying anything.
