Matty Healy Breaks Down His Albums, From The 1975 to Notes on a Conditional Form | On the Records - Hudba
this man has changed so many of our lives I wonder if he understands
hi brittany love u!
Didn't know I'd find you here Brittany 😳 hi ❤️
Brittany bruh i love you
hi brittany me too
BRITTANY HI OMG
brb going to tell others that matty cried
it was just the smoke in his eye
jess marie when did he cry
Imma tell EVERYONE
I’m telling everyone I know
Hey jess, thanks for telling me Matty cried earlier, i'm here now and you weren't kidding.
i will never get tired to hear matty talk about his own music, he talks with so much passion and he values it so much
you can really tell how much it means to him and how much we mean to him when he started crying when talking about touring
He takes himself SO seriously though
@@mattiemclean9882 he takes his music seriously but himself? completely the opposite lol
@@evelynoliveira9447 He is very affected and calculated and not only that, he nicks loads of his "jokes" off Russell Brand. One of mums many showbiz mates. Fact. I'm not saying I don't like him, just that he is a bit fake.
when matty started tearing up :((( it shows how much he values his concerts just as much as we do
jess marie I just wanted to give him a hug when he cried he’s a big cutie x
I mean he was literally saying he didn't value his concerts but
Imagine being the woman in the train next to Matty and realizing he named his album after peeping what book she was reading
what a nosey boy 😂😂
‘That’s why I’ve been filming a documentary for 12 years’ when twitter hears this it’s going to erupt
we've known for ages
he’s been mentioning it for years but who knows when they’ll make it
@@serenaramirez9563 I'd Love It If He Made It
heyheyodelay nice one 👌
They better title it "music for cars"
he wasn’t crying, it was the smoke in his eye x
10/10
Johnny Darko hahahahaha
did he feel so alive?
😂😂😂
@@miguelkarlo2412 yes that's why he sat down with us-maybe
they should’ve just called it “Matty Healy Breaks Down” tbh
@@tobistones2631 I think they meant because he cried haha (as in a "breakdown")
This is genius 😂😂
why is this not pinned. WHY IS THIS NOT PINNED.
lmfaooo
Big brain thinking right there.
Matty talking about the apocalyptic feelings of being a teen.
Me a teen in the middle of the f***ing pandemic: Yeah. I feel that.
omg somebody finally gets it
Holy sh** that’s a lot of likes! (For me it is.) Thanks for the support!
Edit: I said that 2 months ago when it was at like 110 or something maybe even less. Now it is at almost 500. Sorry if this is cringe or whatever but my gosh, thank you!
hits very hard
Matty, talking about the title of their second album: It sounded like a fall out boy song ....
I DIED LMAO
"looking at your phone till you die" legend
Ya wowowowo
💯
Same IT hit harder than expected 💔
I literally heard him say this and looked away. I don’t want to go on my phone now I wanna live life wtf
I got a little scared when he described NOACF as “end of an era”
i’m worried like did he really meant that
i’m worried like did he really meant that
@@lobogabssss What he meant by that is NOACF is the end of era for 'Music for Cars'.
its the end of music for cars (abiior + noacf)
They signed a 3 album deal last year so don’t worry, there’s more on the way
omg take a shot every time matty says "ju know wot i main?"
instructions unclear, currently in the ER
oops, accidentally summoned my Persona.
😂😂
Everytime I hear Matty talking about his music I feel we shouldn't take ourselves so serious
ok i am not the only one haahah
i love how even though in the way he speaks and writes there is this cynicism and distance, you can still feel such strong emotions. i love how through his alienated way of writing- presenting ideas more than writing pure feelings, he still manages to provoke feelings that are so strong and sincere (to me at least)
it's the palpable struggle that's present in almost all of their recent stuff. the struggle of renouncing that cynicism and distance and being subsumed under the weight and the consequences of being sincere. everything he says and writes is relatable cause he says and writes as he goes and he doesn't just reflect on things that have happened/happened to him that he's made his peace with, so i totally agree with you on this.
“we’re going through the same thing we’ve just got different hair and stuff” - Matthew Healy
he's a genius and an idiot and he knows that and i love him
A brief inquiry is a cultural reset
yeah❤️
Agree..one of the best
just scrolled by, read "reset" as "test"
lol, works just as well...
so true ronskie
Robbers is...like...literally the best song ever made so what are you talking about Matthew?
agreed. either that or love it if we made it
@@adaaleide Yes!!
i agree when he said they weren’t the best lyrics i was so shocked i will forever cry to that song
I agreed with him actually. That was my least favorite song on that album when I first heard it...
i think that’s his point tho. like it’s not super deep and it doesn’t have complex metaphors or vocabulary and the beat itself wasn’t complex but it’s simple and raw and insanely emotional for teenagers and that’s what your teenage years are about.
I didn't want the video to end, I could hear him talk for days.
a brief enquiry has to be my favourite album. But Robbers will always be the OG track.
Same, Chocolate is the OG track though
My exact taste!! Inquiry is my favourite album but robbers..
Robbers was indeed an OG Track. Chocolate was the OG hit.
Busker Busker oml I heard chocolate for the first time on the radio when I was 8 and i’ve never been the same since
That beginning........... he misses us too :(
Or he misses the feeling of 20,000 people screaming at him like he's a god every night?
girl this comment made me sad
jumpedtarsier or he misses seeing those 20,000 fans because it helps him acknowledge the people he could’ve helped or have affected
What's the song that's playing there?
A DOG medicine
"it's quite sad and it's also one for the homies"
“It seems like this dialogue is getting weird - I’ll take my top off” lmao
Honestly ILIWYS is their best album hands down, right above debut
Finally, someone who agrees that ILIWYS is the best, I've been scrolling the comments looking for more appreciation for the 2nd album :)
ILIWYS is my fave album too! I love every songs on it!
That 2nd album is just gold. This must be my dream is their greatest song.
daelin omg yes
czcams.com/video/uizWXZVo9Vs/video.html
I love that he explained the 1975 intros how he did, and I could never put it to words how it made me felt. He hit the head on the nail with it sounding like the start of a video game or checking in. It gives me the feeling or preparation to going into a new realm/world of the 1975 whenever I hear the first intro song.
I agree! I just wish there had been a version of the intro song on the newest album with the same lyrics as the rest of the other “The 1975”s
i love it when matty just stares at me blankly as his music plays in the background
Did Matty just say he's been filming this documentary for 12 years?!
a brief inquiry is one of the best mainstream pop records of the last 20 years
Yeah I’m sorry I don’t think it is, would like to hear why you think it is though 😀
Gabriel Apolloni I respect your opinion, but you are wrong 😂
Absolutely, it's so powerful in my opinion. The lyrics give me chills every time.
ILIWYS is better tho
Why do you think that though
when he said "this is the last the 1975 record for ages" my heart dropped but i'm excited for what's next stiill :(
i like it when u sleep is so underrated. she lays down it’s just beautiful
so so beautiful and nana too :,( the whole album is chefs kiss
I Like It When You Sleep pretty much saved my life. Still my favorite album.
How did it save your family? (just curious. That album also helped me.
Lucas Nascimento i was suicidal for two years. listening to the album helped ease my anxiety and depression.
saved me too. wouldn't be here without it
8:00 " we are going trough the same thing, we just have diffrent hair and stuff"
QUOTED
I wish more people spoke with such conviction about their art.
I felt how he said he didn’t appreciate what he had at the moment.. just the fact that I didn’t appreciate being able to go outside and have fun without a mask or without always being scared of getting a disease.. like being more care free in a way
“We’re going through the same thing, we just got different hair and stuff” racism has been canceled thank you matty very cool
don't nitpick :/
Don’t be daft
Thsismksksms
and sexism...if ya think about it.
Ahh yes because virtue signaling also solves issues. Good job.
Ultimate sadness: "[NOACF] is the last 1975 record for ages... This is definitely us stopping making music for a bit."
Also, did anyone hurt a little bit when their favorite song wasn't on Matty's top ten? (Shout out to "Ballad of Me and My Brain." There are dozens of us!)
when he said that?
In the Dork publication he said they are already working on a new 1975 record and they already have a title
One of my favorites songs of always is 'falling for you' so...
@@bradniemeyer1442 Bless you for this pick-me-up

Nobody:
Matty’s obnoxious fangirls: Matty’s palpable struggle is ubiquitously represented by his alienated cynism and deep struggle within. Play antichrist live.
me
yes and?
big mood ngl
u rang?
Nobody: who uses this meme is funny
He's a REAL artist. Everything on their albums are intentional, have a story, and that's what I like about the 1975. They make me feel alive.
“feels like this album should be in a paper bag” 😭 that took me out
a lot of people would be sad knowing the 1975 won't make music for a while but we have so many good albums to jam out to for the next billion years, I think I'll survive. I hope I can see them live again sometime soonish. :)
I love like when he just speaks through his lyrics they sound so simple that maybe anyone can replicate them. But he’s simply mastered the art of conversational lyrics and every time I write “she said” it feels like plagiarism.
A brief inquiry of Matty's evolution as an artist
hmmm matty said they would use the simple cover as the final one yet on Spotify we have the yellow black form one
i saw something that said for physical copies the simple cover was more eco-friendly to produce than the one that we have on digital versions
Matty crying shows how much he loves what he does!! I wanna cry with him :):
the first album will always be the best
matty healy's music and the 1975 in general connect with me in a way no other band does. the lyrical turmoil packaged into a song you just want to dance to; leaving it up to the listeners to decide whether they want to press pause in introspect or keep dancing. poignant, especially when trying to tap into those raw feelings of growing up.
„Robbers“ literally shaped my teenage years - so many memories
this man is so smart and charming and the way his passion shines every time he talks about his art and art in general, I'm-
whoever photoshopped out the background for the thumbnail really did his hair dirty
😂😂😂
lmao i didn’t even realize
I'm so grateful to live in the prime time of the 1975. To know that this band has and is changing people's lives every day is something I can't wrap my head around. I recently understood that it's not just about the music Matty literally took on that responsibility to connect with us on a much deeper level. And at the same time having to embrace the fear of being vulnerable, misjudged, and observed, while battling with internal baggage like introspection and self-awareness.
All the love to you Matty.
It's so comforting knowing Matty feels the exact same way with the debut album as me. Youthful. Teenage Romance
When he got emotional at seeing the crowd and apologised for it. My band did a headline gig and 80 people turned up and that blew me away. It’s not weird. Musicians will totally get why he reacted like he did.
THANK YOU MATTY for acknowledging that Intro/Set3 is one of the best 1975 songs because that is absolutely correct and I never hear anyone talk about it and it is upsetting!!!! xx
just passing by to say: you guys are the best thing that ever happened to me... 🖤
yo whoever did the motion graphics/editing for this video did a great job
Why is be my mistake controversial?? It’s such a tune
I WANNA SHOUT ABOUT MY LOVE TO THE 1975
I just listen to all of their albums 3 days in a row
It’s 4 am, I didn’t sleep at all and my brain feels so unbalanced and dead but I can’t help but crying over “you”
i really wonder to myself where would my brain be right now if i hadn't stumble across the 1975, i've never felt more personally adressed and at the same time heard
"THE OLD PHO-OHS"
The 1975 (2013) is my fav album. Its the album when I found the band!! 7 years later and I still love their music! Sensational!
Same for me,
I remember being about 10 or 11 and my mum buying the Album and me and my sister would fight over what song to play on our way to holiday . Good times
This is the most The 1975 album they've ever created and it's spectacular
The 1975 their best album
When he said we’re all just looking at our phones until we die I felt reincarnated
Matty saying "that is so my vibe" like a valley girl made me die with laughter i cant
so wait, did i hear him right saying they won’t be making music or putting things out for a bit...?
Lia Buenrostro who knows 😫 they’re currently still writing but like everything is so unknown for them they’ve gotta be exhausted but now they’re like this is my job and don’t know anything else if that makes sense?
tbh I think they deserve this break, they've been working non stop since 2013, it's good for them
he said in a different interview that they're currently working on an ambient 1975 record and two drive like I do records
he said george is working on an ambient version of noacf and he’s going through old dlid songs and demos and he’s thinking about doing something with them. him and george are also working on other people’s music and records too, so they’re quite busy. we may not got a record but i think we’ll get other things to compensate
I'm big sad bc I've never gotten to see them live, and I had the money for tickets this year but now miss Rona has to put a wrench in my plans.... I hope they do small shows if they aren't too pooped out. They deserve a break, I'm just kinda bummed that i probably wont get a chance to see them irl 😭
He is one of those artists I would love to just sit down and have a coffee with, and talk about all things music. Such a brilliant guy.
i've always said that the cover for a brief inquiry to online relationship reminded me of Mondrian's paintings!
Me too!
I could listen to him talking for years. it's like therapy
Intro set 3 and bagsy not in net and pressure are my fav 3
AW WHEN MATTY STARTED CRYING :((
‘We’re going through the same thing - we just got different hair and stuff’ - Matthew Healy
the feeling of not having their music for a while is so sad and so scary, yet so sentimental and nostalgic and exciting, the 1975 changed my life, i dont know where i would be or, ever better, who tf i would be without them.
matty cried. THIS IS THE END OF AN ERA.
Matty is such an intriguing and clever guy..
BEAUTIFUL INTERVIEW. THANKS PITCHY!
Pitchy hahaha, gotta love that
Guys I saw this video with matty explaining his albums and he cries in the end
This is my favourite interview with him
I discovered the 1975 when I was 16. I saw an ad for The 1975’s Beats 1 concert and I was sucked in. I later got into the debut album. I was shocked at the direction they took when the released “give yourself a try” but liked ABIIOR. Now NOACF released and Matty calls this “The end of an era.” I feel this twinge inside me. I am now 21 and it’s crazy to think that ILIWYS came out 5 years ago. I miss those times. Though I’m sad to see this era go, I can’t wait to see what they will come up with when they come back. The 1975. Forever
He’s so passionate. I love it
facedown is my fav 1975 song of all time im glad he still loves it
"We're going through the same thing we just have different hair and stuff" is now my favorite quote of all time
“Me” makes me cry every time 😪
I cannot believe this video doesn't have more views. Absolutely amazing.
Matty is the best song writer and also an amazing singer, he always put his emotion on his songs and i just love it.
Matty Healy is a modern day musical genius.
Ugh that first album is everything to me - they all are
As a necro death/doom metal musician, I freakin' love the pre-2015 era. Still cannot get enough of Undo, HNSCC, Medicine..
5:17 thank you for telling us who george is i had no idea
Lmao YES!
😂😂
the thing i love about the 1975 is the music but not because i enjoy their sounds but the message behind it. it’s got a way to make you feel so empowered and unstoppable in one lyric to questioning everything the next.
"We're going through the same thing, we just have different hair and stuff" - Matty Healy, 2020
I’m still upset that NOACF does not start with “the 1975” as the others did. Where are those lyrics in fourth album form?
I tried to boil down the 1975's themes and came up with "celebrating mindful mindlessness" which I'm pretty pleased with after watching this
Debut album still hits me the most. The record shows a lot of melodrama and everything just want you to cry everytime you hear em
Why would you dislike this informative and detailed video .....?
i'm so in love with him
i love that intro/set3 is one of his favourites because is also one of mine
I just love listening to him.
a true contemporary artist.
"We're going through the same thing we've just got different hair and stuff"
inside your mind still most underrated song...
