    I’ll never forget Linsanity.
In my mind, Jeremy is up there with some of the most unforgettable events in, not just basketball, but in NY sports. If you lived through that very short span when Linsanity exploded, you’ll understand how electric New York was.

What the Knicks did to Lin is one of the nastiest things in sports I have ever seen. THE most excitement that has been brought around the organization, possibly more than their playoff runs with Patrick Ewing and they just let him go like he provided nothing. He was devastated after that, his morale was down and no other team gave him the respect and opportunity he deserved. It’s a shame what happened to his career.

Man, imagine if Lin stayed with the Knicks with DÁntoni. He could've gone down as one of the most popular Knick players ever. And he might have developed into an all-star if he was given free rein to develop. Too bad Mike Woodson, Stephen A Smith, and the CAA had to ruin that. Should've traded Carmelo for another all-star that fit the system and was a high character guy.

People are considering Jeremy Lin as a U.S. & GLOBALsports pioneer, idol & phenom, & I agree with that. But if you want a U.S.-born Asian sports pioneer that became the GOAT for decades now & will be remembered for the rest of written history, that would practically start with Bruce Lee, 6 decades ago. Yes, he showcased his skills primarily as an actor, but those skills of martial arts are rooted in sports.
And Bruce, just like Jeremy, had to go through basically the same prejudices & discrimination against Asians in the U.S. Even though 40-50 years separate their times in the limelight, those negative biases still remain in today's era; perhaps a bit better now, but it still shows itself & glowering as ever.
As I am a fan of Jeremy Lin, I am hopefully wishing he return to the NBA, maybe in the next couple of seasons, as he is nearing that sports retirement time in his career.

I understand the criticisms in the middle, but I think it needs to be put in a little better perspective. Asian Americans comprise a very small portion of the US population with the largest Asian communities being found on the west coast, Hawaii and near major east coast cities. For a lot of Americans, this was the first time they'd ever really followed an Asian public icon and sure a couple of boomer authors use racial slurs which is of course unfortunate, but I'd like to believe it was rooted more in ignorance rather than malice.
Idk I'm a white dude so my opinion on this topic is pretty irrelevant, but I'd like to believe that a lot more good came out of Linsanity than bad.
