    im 32 and have mild to moderate malar bags on upper cheeks. they're more on the moderate side if i dont sleep! i just did this exercise 60 times and immediately i see an improvement! it mustve helped the fluid move out! ill make sure to do it every other day. theyre barely noticeable now despite the fact that i barely slept last night!

      It takes a while for facial exercises to tone up the many facial muscles, but a good workout can almost immediately speed up lymph flow - can get rid of that fluid that builds up under the skin.

    Sweet Papaya, Your lips are kept contracted during the fifteen to twenty-five repetition. The contraction of the lips works all the other muscles that are surrounding the lips, the muscles of the cheeks and even the chin. It takes time to get into the right groove with this exercise. Do it three or four times a week and eventually you'll find the right way to do it. I always do this exercise in front of a mirror. If you do it in front of a mirror, be careful not to scare yourself.

      I see many good video these days of facial exercises. My advice is to select the half dozen best ones. It's hard, if not impossible, to do twenty or thirty exercises. All of mine are effective in toning up various areas of the face. But here is a question for you: Can you do the scalp exercise correctly? It's a great exercise for the upper face if you can gain control of those "impossible" occipitalis muscles. I'm glad that you did not scare yourself while looking in the mirror. I don't want any lawsuits.

    • @MsGnor
      @MsGnor Před 7 lety +1

      Great to hear from you :) and thanks for the extra info.
      I'm giving the scalp exercise a go. Better than expected. I start by raising my eyebrows. If I do that for a bit, the back of my scalp moves up and down. Feels strangely good.
      Yes, I'm home alone :) I'll definitely let you know how I get on.

    Your facial musculature speaks volumes as to the effectiveness of the exercise. Having said that, the problem is that you don't actually teach how to perform this exercise. It might seem easy to you after years of training, but it can look extremely complicated to someone who hasn't done any facial exercises before. Instead of presenting a stage-by-stage instruction, you're merely flexing - just like a bodybuilder flexing and flaunting on stage

      It's important to keep all your facial muscles toned-up, but it's also important to keep the proper body weight. The six exercises in my shape your face course will work all the muscles of the upper and lower face and front of the neck; keeping lean and mean-looking is up to you. You are in your early 30s though so keeping slender is not that difficult. You'll be happy with my program of exercises, and so will your face.

    • @davitalone5567
      @davitalone5567 Před 4 lety +14

      I did the exercise. You are suppose to feel your cheeks tensioning when repeting some times. It's like the same feel of working any other muscle from you body, but this is for your cheeks. First, just give a simple smile, you'll be tensioning the muscles. Then, stil on the smile position, try put your lips together, keep them close, you will fell a tension in your muscles under your eye, they will even show up (that's the cheek muscles, you tight them up every time you smile). Keep these muscles high, smiling with closed lips(like kissing). Then open and close your mouth the more you can (to do this movement, you can open your lips, repeate open and close them following your jaw). It will add lot more tensions to your cheek muscles; doing this repetition you'll be working them out the same way you do with any other muscle is your body, the more you use it, the bigger/stronger it gets. Check the video again, and follow these instructions, it's pretty easy to do

      I don't think that facial exercises change the essential shape of your face - the bone structure and the muscle form. What does radically change the face, though, is tooth loss. Tooth loss accelerates bone demineralization.

Es por esa razon que no recomiendo más de tres o cuatro grupos de veinte repeticiones de este ejercicio. Y tambien recomiendo que usa algún tipo de moisturizer (no sé la palabra en español) cuando hace el ejercicio.

    hi tom. ive tried to do this exercise in front of mirror but im still having a hard time understanding how to perform. when opening the mouth..does your mouth make an oval shape or round shape. it looks like a oval shape is for a long exaggerated laugh vs a o or wide u shape is a typical laugh since when you naturally laugh your smile extends back. when i seem to do the o or long u open mouth i see the my nasiolabial lines show more due to the contraction which worries me because im trying to build muscle so prevent them. And also do we put pressure on the upper lip muscle or not. please explain the exercise more detailed. thanks xoxo

    • @TomHagerty711
      @TomHagerty711  Před 8 lety +2

      When I do this exercise I do not make any exaggerated stretches of the facial muscles. I also try to keep a steady rhythm when I'm doing the exercise. It does not make a difference if your mouth looks like an oval or a wide u shape (whatever that is). As you continue with the exercise, you'll find the right movement for your face - the movement that will give your lower face a strong workout. I don't count reps or watch the clock. I think it's better to be a little flexible in exercising your face. Three times a week, though, is about the right amount.

      "Super toned" - That's the way a face should be. It's more expressive that way, and it's more resistant to aging. Have you tried doing the scalp exercise? It's a tough one to master, but if you do it correctly, it works the whole upper face.

    Hey Tom. I've been following you for a few years now; idk if u still are active on here but:
    I have a very "long" nose and midface. I had been doing Mike Mew's tongue excersies for at least 4 years and it ended up causing my sphenoid to go crooked and giving me strabismus (which I am in the process of fixing). Anyways i feel like my main focus should be on exercising my frontalis, procerus, and zygomatic muscles. However i am not too certain if exercising my frontalis will cause my forehead to get bigger or shorter.
    I would prefer possibly a "bigger" forehead with my eyes in good proportion with the rest of my face. Is the goal for a shorter midface bringing the face upward with a shorter forehead or bringing the forehead downward to drop the eyes down? I feel like the procerus muscle is the main focus for my long nose but idk attractive people seem to have larger foreheads and exercising my forehead in theory would result in a shorter forehead? May I get your thoughts on this? Thanks and God Bless : )

    • @TomHagerty711
      @TomHagerty711  Před 3 lety +1

      Chance Watkins, we have different ideas about what facial exercise can do. In an adult I think that facial exercises will only tone up the facial muscles, keeping them younger-looking and more expressive. I don't think they will in any way change the shape of the forehead, nose, or mid-face. But I've read through Mike Mew's material. He thinks that certain placements of the tongue and other maneuvers done for long periods of time may actually have an influence on bone structure. I've seen no evidence of this. My program of facial exercises will tighten up loose muscles and the skin covering these muscles, but it will not change the shape of your nose or forehead.

      Watch Riley Eusden do the scalp exercise on my website - www.hairloss-reversible.com/the-scalp-exercise-video/ This exercise, which is hard to learn, will definitely soften up the horizontal lines between the eyebrows. What causes these lines to form is the almost continuous contraction of the procerus muscles - the frowning muscles. The scalp exercise if it is done correctly will ease or even get rid of this unwanted contraction. The scalp exercise will also tone-up and strengthen the occipitalis muscles at the back of the head. These muscles when they are developed will exert a gentle pressure downward on the scalp. This will smooth out any frown lines.
      As I said, though, gaining control of the occipitalis muscles is difficult. But this exercise will positively erase your frown lines.

      Do the scalp exercise but do it the right way. And by "the right way" I mean getting a firm, strong contraction of the occipitalis muscle at the back of your head. Many people contract just the frontalis muscle at the front of the head. What you want is a smooth alternating contraction of both scalp muscles. This alternating contraction keeps your forehead smooth, and it gives your face more expression.

    Will that make the cheeks bigger?

    • @TomHagerty711
      @TomHagerty711  Před 4 lety +1

      Facial exercise can firm-up the cheeks but I don't think they can make them larger. If you become heavier your cheeks will become larger, but why would you want this. Fat cheeks used to be a feature of beauty. I don't think they are anymore.

      That's exactly it. I demonstrate the exercises. Go to a mirror and do the exercise the way that I do it. These facial exercises are effective for toning up the 43 muscles of the upper and lower face and front of the neck.

    • @thomashagerty3637
      @thomashagerty3637 Před 3 lety

      This is an easy exercise to do. Just do the exercise the way that I show in my demonstration. I don't think people need a long explanation either. Take it easy with this exercise for a couple of weeks, though, till these facial muscles get used to it. It's an effective exercise.
